Cant beat a bit of nostalgia. Im 62 now but have fond memories of my childhood. Visited many places as a kid with mum n dad ,we usually went on holidays with another family .mum n dads friends with their son , which was company for me ,and sometimes 3 families. We used to go to Butlins and we absolutely loved it as kids , visited most of the camps too . Happy days 😁👍
Am 62 but still have a very vivid memory of the contrasting feel of mum's hand one side and dad's the other. Her tiny soft hand his big work worn hands. Thanks for sharing ❤
I love your child like sense of wonder at all these places. You can see how excited you both are. It makes these videos much more interesting when you can hear it in your voices I also love your photos , they add to your experience and expertise of the area. Thanks again for posting, it’s like research for me, hoping to travel there in 24
We've enjoyed following you on your travels throughout 2023, looking forward to next year.... All the best to you both in health and happiness for 2024, Steve & Ang 🎉🥳🍻👍
The tidal pool is still there, you got it on video. It sadly was left to nature and visitors over the years have thrown so many stones that it is almost gone now. I have photos from the early 90s when it was more like a pool.
Hi kids from Spain. I remember the Lynmouth tragedy back in 1952. I hope that they have now prevented a recurrence. Hope you have a Happy New Year. We have our grapes lined up ready to do the countdown at midnight.
Happy New Year Andy and Claire. Thanks for the laughs. You both have a great sense of humour. Wishing you well for 2024. Our paths will cross at some point 😁👍
Happy New Year to you and yours Sandy. Looking forward to whatever new torture you dream up next to endure. Be safe, stay happy and never let the B*******s grind you down 😁👍
Seems timely to wish you two a happy new year, which I'm pretty sure you will have. Yep I can remember sitting outside pubs on holiday with a shandy and a bag of crisps. Not in Lynmouth though. In fact it was a regular thing to be sat outside the pub on a Friday night after my dad had finished his collection round for Dupont's club. Every half hour mother would pop out and take our order. Do you remember Arrow root Biscuits from the pub? They were at least two to three times bigger than if you can find them in packets in the supermarket today. In the Beach Hotel on the front at Littlehampton we were actually allowed in to the residents bar with mum &dad after coming up from the beach in the days when Guiness was on the counter in a Barrel. It was sweeter then like a German Dunkel Bier even without any lemonade in it. 😋🙂 I was fortunate to be one of those lads who by the age of fourteen looked old enough not to be suspected of being underage so never had the inclination to get roaring drunk on reaching the age of eighteen. Still don't really care if I take a drink or not. 🐻 But I'm having a Rumm at 12 o'clock .
Happy New Year. Thats another one done and dusted. My first job was in the pub and restaurant trade so I served a lot of booze but never drank much at all. Looking forward to the New Year. Have a good one 👍
Happy New Year, Carol and Ken, thanks for all of your amazing videos in 2023, here's to adventures in 2024, you might manage a camping trip in the Little Red Camper before your new Consort campervan collection day ❤️🚐xx
That was a lovely tranquil place ! Seeing the train layout was most interesting because I am in USA and we don't get to see foreign model trains unless we really are into model railroads and then I am sure finding one like this one would be quite rare. Thanks for sharing and have a Happy New Year. Am so looking forward to the new van !
Watching on what is Monday morning but it's like ANOTHER Sunday 😂with my 1st cuppa tea 🍵 of the day &dunking biscuits 😋 enjoying your latest vlog 👍hope ya had a quiet New years eve as i did with my chocolate 🍫 😂😂😂😂😂😂HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU BOTH 🎉❤😊
Great short venture guys. Felicitations for 2024. I hosted a young couple from Bristol with dog in their campervan, last night (New Years Eve), who now live in Christchurch. Apparently driven out of UK by Brexit troubles!! They have not had a good earthquake yet!! Take care & stay safe. Today is cool and overcast, currently 10C. Kia Ora from New Zealand. 💜💜
Hi Xavier. I don’t think Brexit has much to do with our troubles to be honest. It’s leadership we are crying out for over here. Leadership, common sense and bravery that’s what we need. I bet those earthquakes can make you sit up. We remember our visit to Christchurch. Still a lot of damage several years after the quake. Still stormy here with heavy rain at times. Happy New Year ❤️
wow .... a rare water powered funicular railway and a model railway in the same video ... I love it ... cheers, Garry from DownUnder (BTW Happy New Year)
Hope you are well?? Happy new ear nose and throat 🤣😆 yes iv a weird sense of humour sorry in advance .Enjoyed your vlog , was Carol thinking of Weston-super-Mare they had a salt water pool years ago . Good luck both 👍👍👍🏴🇬🇧🇨🇦🦢
Watching this today, I'm wondering what it looks like this week after all the rain we've had recently. I love North Devon and I'm keen to share it with Mr GST sometime
Still one of my favourite places to visit in the UK. We don’t need to go abroad with the wonderful British weather 😂 I would like to see more of these types of videos from you. Brilliant and well done.
Ken, I will be quick to admit that I am completely gobsmacked! I truly believed that you were at least a decade or two younger than I but I only knew one person who claimed to be alive during the Napoleanic Wars, however, I question that after looking up the dates when you said many travelled to Lynmouth during the Napoleonic Wars and that you made yourself sick over cream teas. I jumped online to double check the dates and am amazed at how good you look for being over 200 years of age. I am also disappointed in myself for believing my great grandfather when he insisted that he was alive during that time. My radar was pretty good for detecting a leg pulling but at 5 or 6 years, my grasp of time and history was very limited so I will try not to feel too foolish. Except I misjudged your age by well over a century! How do you do it? And how have you managed this long without replacing that knee? I have developed a real appreciation for your skill in self preservation. Though retired, I was known for my abilities in successful event organization and if you were to dedicate to weeks each year for this endeavor, I could make you a very rich man if you were willing to present your findings for 4 days each year. This could be done mid vacation each year to break up your vacation and stay in a luxury resort during that time. Alternatively, I could arrange these workshops near your home so that you could stay home and simply wander across your town or village (or city) to present your findings and be back home before dinner (or after if you choose). Carol would have corroborating evidence that she could provide, lessening your workload during that time. Exciting stuff and I truly hope you consider this offer. As an aside, this was a very enjoyable video, even though I watched it with my mouth hanging open. You two are truly amazing!!!
Well, with the amount of time we spent around here, mostly in the eighties, and another isolated visit in 2006, my guess is that the model railway is fairly new. Otherwise I’d have had a hard time prising my husband away from it! Ann-with-Ludgate-Circus-in-her-Kitchen!
