    Wow! This is a message that every educator, administrator, parent, and politician NEEDS to hear. Technology won't and can't fix education, but effective teachers who are treated with respect and trust CAN! Thanks for always being an advocate for edcators!

    I completely agree. Technology can not replace teacher interactions with students, but it can enhance it.

    The US-school system was severely deficient since decades before Covid-19. Once again, like in most accidents and major events in history, they happen because of the concurrence of several errors. Among those errors first and foremost I think we have the issue of school discipline in the US. As a former foreign teacher I can tell you that I was perplexed to see how bad the discipline issue is in the US. Everything is bad about it, including the attitude of most parents, and most students going to school. This in turn has created laws to protect the rights of students, and parents taking them to such abnormal levels, that it has been ridiculous for the last 30 years in the US and worse the more recent years. If the issue of discipline is not clearly understood and corrected by the totality of parents and students, you might as well just forget about fixing the US-educational system. The way the US educational system works is such that everything as far as blames, learning, discipline, etc. targets the overwhelmed teacher. In addition the US-government, the State, and school districts force not only curriculum per grade level, but it kills in the process all respect and authority from the teachers no matter how strong a union they belong to. Is not a matter of unions, more laws, and/or more coaching, or more how to teach, but less to all mentioned, and a lot more respect to the teachers in the US-educational system. In European cities, and many capitals in South America the teachers usually are a lot more respected, especially in schools that are not free. On the other hand, in the US-educational system there are many rightful concerns about the provision of breakfast, and meals, but little interest in highlighting the huge importance and sense of gratitude regarding being educated at school all together. This sense of gratitude is very much present among students and parents of poor areas in foreign nations, which contrast greatly with what happens in the US where teachers' greatest asset should be classroom management and discipline handling, not subject knowledge and teaching skills with utmost respect to the teacher and their own touch of teaching style. In the US there are too much worries in the things not so important or relevant to education, like wall covering of tests and students work exhibition, supposedly to provide them a sense of encouragement and a sense of pride to exhibit an "A". Little done for the development of their sense of gratitude for having a learning opportunity, and highly respecting the teacher.

    I’ve been a teacher for over twenty years, and I have a particular vision for how technology can be better used in education. I’m working on it currently... It’s not rocket Science. The technology has actually existed for twenty years now. But no one has thought it through properly, and implementation is poor. I hope to change that. Watch this space.

    Teachers need more professional development to learn to incorporate technology into the classroom. It is not technology alone that fixes education; it is the professional teacher who knows how to use technology in a given situation and to teach and accompany those unique individuals in front of him or her.

    • @twiedenfeld
      @twiedenfeld Рік тому

      I don't think the problem is professional development. The problem is the technology itself. When you try to use something that is primarily used for entertainment and try to use it for learning, your brain isn't going to retain what it's experiencing. When you sleep at night your brain prunes any neurons that it deems unnecessary. Anything you get from a computer is going to get pruned. That's the short explanation.

    Technology is a tool in education but can not replace the impact of teachers. While technology does allow students with varied needs to have equitable access to the curriculum, teachers build connections with their students and learn their needs and how to support them in ways that AI or general technology cannot.

    I totally agree with the idea! There are a number of new technologies helping students learn on their own, but if they do not know how to use them wisely, the technologies may do harm to their lives. That is, teachers play an important role in guiding students how to take advantage of the technologies in a proper way.

    The covid 19 pandemic proved that technology can't fix education. Technology is just another tool that can be used in the education process. Education is not as easy as it seems. All facilitators, educators, teachers and students can relate to these facts. The affective domain drives the cognitive domain in the teaching learning process. Teachers and lecturers know that if they do not cater to the affective domain in their lesson plans then no amount of technology can aid students in interpreting and understanding academics. Therefore, one needs to view technology as simply another medium and tool in education. Angel. M from Trinidad W.I

    This was filmed in 2017? Technology as just a tool is hardly a new concept. I've heard this message repeatedly, and I agree it is a tool- one we can't ignore though. Good teachers cannot be replaced by technology. None of this info is new or groundbreaking...

    That charter school most likely dumped all the random tech, but had no engaging curriculum. Technology can solve most of the problems in the education system and finally give low-income students a chance to stay away from a terrible environment and focus on their education. We have finally seen that teachers aren't getting paid enough and if they are, they complain with their union. We can live without teachers
