@tito diaz they would have to relearn teaching. it's not about the content anymore, but guiding through th evast amount of info. Kids should learn how to solve a problem. Not dates and useless info learning by heart.
Thank you David for this enlightening talk about the gap between Technology and Education. I have been an offline STEM-educator since 12 months now and I desparetely feel the need for Education to cope up with emerging technologies. GenZ children need to be allowed to work along with there smartphones around, it is a matter of ethics that learner’s don’t misuse technology during quality education. I really admire the vision of TechLabs and would love to connect with the team soon. Cheers from Ignotech (India).
I understand what you are saying. My Culex XR Studio is making virtual content for education and we have a crazy gap between people who are excited about this new technology and those who do not understand it and are afraid of it. Unfortunately, there are more of those who are afraid. But I see the movement for the better. Great speech!
Many thanks for this interesting lecture! It is fantastic that the non-profit organisation has achieved such a huge success after such a short time. The three pillars on which "Tech Lab" is built can really successfully transform education into the digital age, that's my personal impression as a trainer-instructor. Sadly they only are doing this to extract data that they will profit off of. If you haven't yet, check out Alison McDowell and her research out. It's very telling.
How come technology makes advancement when we all know that technology is a result of whatever one has acquired through/from education system. Please help me understand.
Can you please enlighten me more about " technology is moving away ahead of the education system" . Is it not the education system is responsible to these technological advancement?
so many speakers just talk about the need for students to learn code and 'futuristic' tech jobs, which I think is missing the whole point of future education because even those jobs will become redundant in another 50-100 years.
True, he doesn't explain why Techlabs is focused on tech skills specifically. On the other hand he does say that he doesn't know what skills will be relevant in 5 years.
This is so false, we will always need teachers. There is value in peer to peer learning. No machine learning algorithm can teach a student to be a good person or even high level liberal arts/stem
@@chrisa3961 parents working 12 or 14 hour shifts a day? Maybe where you are from parents have the luxury of devoting time to teaching, but it's up to the education system to deliver a well rounded experience
Been waiting for a person like you sir. Online learning just exposed the need for old education system to be changed.
@tito diaz unfortunately İTS true for my country , turkey. Also im a Technology teacher at a high school

Ignorance is bliss.
This talk is marked by such bliss. And by propaganda.
Read a book on actual education, David.
@Niels, can you elaborate what you mean?
"One day you will be able to team up..." "Really?"
TEDx Muenster, you have a content problem.
In the future, we won't be needing teachers anymore. At least not how it's contemplated now.
