Hi silent, thanks for the video. I was wondering if name tags take villager spawned iron golems from the mob cap. I have an idea for iron golem based body guards, and player spawned golems do not attack players. Thanks!
One thing you left out, to increase golem spawn rates, is to remove the lava. Tame five cats that the villagers spawn, place them in a case beneath your farm, replace the lava, and then the villagers will ONLY spawn golems. Because if they spawn a cat, that removes a golem spawn as they can spawn one or the other. But having five tamed cats in the area prohibits the villagers from spawning a sixth cat as five is the cap for 20 villagers. So you’ll get much much much more iron.
Is that true on Bedrock? I'm in a seemingly unique situation where my entire base is overrun with Villagers. I tamed over 20 cats and have them stationed around to keep Phantoms away, but there's always new cats.
@@DFWHoppe Yeah, I play on bedrock. But it depends how many villagers you have and how far spread apart they are. I build a farm without tutorial, just reading the mechanic for my one chunk challenge, at the bottom of my chunk (bedrock) to be unbothered with my village of de-zombified villagers. It was working very well despite behind pretty simple, but suddenly stopped working. Thanks for going though those steps, it help me to figure out what was stunting my farm. Even if it was a simple fix: half got stuck in a wall and weren't reaching their stations (therefore weren't working). Once I remove the relief that was getting them stuck, golem return as normal.
Thank you so so much i made your iron golem farm and it wasn't working so i looked at this and I found out that villagers had to have there work station right in front of them so I fixed that and now it works amazing!
After many days of troubleshooting with 4 villager cells of 5 dudes each, I assigned different jobs to each cell and figured out that some of my villagers are connecting to jobs on a different side than they're on preventing them from working. No matter what I do I cannot get them all to grab the jobs by them. I'm hoping maybe there'll be an update that'll force them to grab what's closest, even if it's just from resetting them or something. I'm desperate for iron and need this working.
So I ended up altering the villager section into a single room over the center of the beds, similar to a different video I saw (don't remember whose atm). This made it so they could all get to their stations and they couldn't sleep either. I stationed some cats in there too to keep them from spawning cats and keep with only golems. This worked for about a week until lightning apparently broke through the leaves I had over them and turned them into witches (while I was afk). Now my farm is broken and I have to entirely restock the villagers from my broken breeder (breeders keep escaping their boat). The maintenance and rebuilding of these farms is a royal pain.
Leaving a comment to boost engagement- My farm wasnt working, turns out I had 21 villagers and only 20 beds 😅 Used your more recent iron farm and trading hall design, works great! Amazing stuff
Can you build iron farms in the nether/end to avoid issues with nearby villager farms or tech? I'd rather put it in another dimension and not worry, just afk there every now and then.
You can if you’re very careful. Lock the profession of each villager in the iron farm by trading with them. Don’t bring additional villagers to the area.
I happened to have half of my villagers turn into zombie villagers, and I really don't know how it happened as the villagers were locked in their glass cabin up in the air.
So here is the villager workstation fix I use. Make a 2x2x2 cube, cover the faces of each side with workstations and remove the inner cube. That's 24 workstations max, (20 if you leave the lid off). Fill the space with 20 villagers. Done.
Silent I need help! Built your starter iron farm in my solo world, works like a charm. Built it on my friends realm, exactly the same, but all I can get is cats. No other workstations, beds or bells in over 100 blocks, and I’ve broken and re linked all the beds and workstations in the farm multiple times. Any other suggestions?
Thank you so much! My issue was that I had more villagers than beds. I had 20+ villagers and 20 beds, so I added 4 beds then everything started working.
Make sure if you have the farm type where the villagers are trapped in a 1 block space and there are ten of them, make sure the water is in the cage, I had everything else perfectly set up but that threw me off
Thank you for this information on the mechanics of iron farms! It really helped me as I was getting VERY low volume spawning. The issue was the beds being too low from the spawning platform so I moved it up a little and that fixed the problem! 💕
What do you do about the villagers unlinking from their stations regardless of standing in water or not. I have also had them completely switch trades in my trading hall when they are fully maxed out. I have reported the bug, but it doesn't seem like mojang really cares to fix it with the update coming up. I had reported it like 6 months ago or better.
@@jacobjenkins805 of course! They won't link to the work stations without them. I got it fixed. I had to eliminate all the villagers and I moved the whole farm.
Bro you're a saviour! I placed and broke workstations and beds like 3 times and still won't spawn GOlems... This video made me check villager count... I had 21, and only 20 beds... Thank YYOOOUU!!!
I've had the continual problem of it not spawning iron golems. Thanks for the video and mentioned that you have to be within 80 blocks of the farm for the golems to spawn. Now I just need to AFK for a minute or so and then the Iron Golems begin to spawn again. Just wish it would work when I was further away.
This was really really really good info that no other channel gave extremely helpful didn’t know about the minimum villager requirement or the lack of scaring in bedrock thank you for your help
My farm wasn’t working for a while, but when watching the video all of a sudden it started working ironically, when you were talking about the only thing I haven’t done and that was lit an entire day pass without sleeping so that way they could work and then have worked for that previous day It is annoying how inconsistent they spawn though
I have built one of your farm. That farm where you have platform campfire on lava block and 10 villagers. I have more than 10 villager in that box and 10 have jobs . Water is there and beds too . I have replaced beds and they are not spawning . Need help Edit: just cat spawns and I'm under the farm . Should i be more away or not?
Did you give them food? If you have only one pod and have 20 beds (the minimum) they probably bred babies and grew up. Your farm probably broke because the babies that grew up ddont have any work benches.
Thank you! I built my iron farm but it didn't work at all, it was the work stations not being directly infront. Saved me a ton of troubleshooting by myself
So all the villagers have acess to their perspective work station and they are on the sides so each one can see the beds but i dont have any golems spawing just cats just in case i have 20 beds and 20 villagers and it still doesnt work
Can you do a video similar to this but for trading halls? The issue I have with my current one is villagers constantly unlink from their workstations or they wont refresh their inventories. It would help a ton. Thank you for all the amazing bedrock content as well!
Why does my farm start working for a Minecraft day then stop? I can get around 80 iron after resetting my farm and then all of the sudden no more golems will spawn.
May be a late response, but you should probably check and see if there are any stray cats or golems wandering around, also check if there’s any village components too close to your farm.
I knew that the villagers had to have jobs, but didnt realize they had to work in the past day. Thats probably why it kept breaking and fixing for seemingly no reason
The two biggest challenges I have with Bedrock are villagers un-linking from beds and workstations, and entities despawning across chunk borders. I really hope those will be fixable at some point in the future! Won’t stop villagers from being frustrating though. 😑
I used a bubble column with a stream at the top that would push them right in place. Put a button above the block in their chamber to keep the water from drowning them.
have been watching your video's ever since I started playing Minecraft last year very useful video that waiting for does trading with villagers affect the farm
What if you put a zombie in the middle where the iron golems drops so they go to the lava faster (or instead of zombies any mob that angers the iron golem)?
@@dianaschroder7161 I already fixed mine. Try to make sure that there's no nitwit villagers that'll connect to the bed, if they did; kill them, remove the bed, the put it back, get a villager with a job then let it connect to the bed. (If that's what you did but still producing cats, tame 5 cats and lt them stay on the farm.)

Did 1.18 break this farm? Only getting cats. Maybe something to do with the bed clearance? I already broke and replaced all of the beds and workstations, ensuring that they were all properly linked and still only cats
@@silentwisperer still couldn't get it to work even though I made sure that everyone had a linked bed and a linked workstation and that everything was built correctly so I just made a new iron farm in creative and rebuilt it in survival, not really sure why the iron farm that you built wasn't working cause I've built it before as well as many other farms that you have on the channel and they've all worked great, I'm stumped. Thank you for the help though, you're doing great work on the bedrock community, RIP Tater
Yes, if somehow near your iron farms and you don't kill them you will get lower rates or even none if those golems aren't spawning where they should be.
Guys, I'd like to add that if you have more Villagers than beds and you have them all cramped in the same spot so you don't know how many to kill, just add beds
Thanks, I don't know that villagers needs 20 beds to spawn iron golem in bedrock edition, I thinked that this will not work in bedrock buy it works!! Thanks you very much 😭😭😭
Built my first iron farm a while ago. Added an item filter to convert the poppies to bonemeal. After a while the farm just completely stopped. Tried a number of fixes, but all were unsuccessful. So i built a new one. I have 20 villagers, 20 beds and 20 work stations, which I've picked up and replaced one-on-one to ensure villagers were linking properly, and still no golems. Ive idled in my villager chamber just to see what's happening and they all take a bed with no issues and they work all day, so i should definitely have greater than 75 % villagers working in a previous day. Its been 3 in-game days. I have no idea how to fix this. I'm running out of iron with all the farms I've been building recently, lol.
You know what, after several tries i guess you are absolutly right, we dont need more than 20 villagers on our iron farm its just useless, i mean all my iron farms work perfectly with 20 villagers, every time i try to make one of 40 villagers i cant make it work nowadays, it doesnt even spawn a single golem.. so im guessing that youre right 20 villagers its the optimal number, and its not like we cant get tons of iron, because even with just 20 villagers the farms produce a big amount of iron, in any case we feel we need more iron we should just do another one of 20 and thats it
1 free advice from me that you should make your iron farm in the ocean I mean above the ocean so you should have iron farm, string farm, flower farm and fish farm as I don't know if it really works but it is working in my world so the choice is yours
I’m on PS4 and golems just refuse to spawn in water. They spawn everywhere other than water and I patched it all up with leaves. Now no golems spawn. I have never had one spawn in water I don’t know what is wrong.
Took all day but I finally have one working on Minecraft pe on my ipad, had a few set back a couple of swearing fits so I widened the villager holding pen and removed all work stations remotely close and now I’m glad I didn’t quit when I was swearing at escaped villagers
Things I found out while making this… sometimes you may get to a point where you put workstations down in front of them but didn’t link them so for my car I had three groups of five and they were in separate little “cells” so to find the right villager to be linked I removed all workstations (sometimes villagers will keep their job which can make it a pain) and then I would place down one workstation, find the villager who got the link go back remove the workstation and then replace it in front of them rinse and repeat until all are linked) if still not working if they are in a single block try placing water in there
The Farmers underneath my Iron Farm aren't sharing food with the other four villagers. I used each one for wheat and potatoes. Somehow five villagers on the front side of the farm had transitioned into zombies. Of course, it took a while to cure them with lack of arrows of weakness from two fletcher villagers. But, those zombie villagers hadn't been locked in trades, so after I cured them, they were all locked in a specific trade. So, I had to kill them. Afterward, the potatoe farmer began giving food again. The wheat farmer still isn't giving his villagers side any bread... So I added more villagers around the hall, now neither farmer is sharing any food. Every villager is locked within a trade.

I'd rather put it in another dimension and not worry, just afk there every now and then.
maybe the end but they need water so not the nether
put it above an ocean, that way you can also get fish
@@cadence_gray funnily enough, that's what I did lol
@@adamlindemer haha, good choice
Can you place a stonecutter next to the farm after the iron farm is done and the villargers have job
You can if you’re very careful. Lock the profession of each villager in the iron farm by trading with them. Don’t bring additional villagers to the area.
@@jdmustard2557 ok thanks but i always lock them with water
@@ludovansambeeck510 That doesn’t lock profession. Trading with them does that.

Same here I normally notice that's its night I'm very confused anyone know why
i dont know why same happens to me!!
Its usually because its night or it wasn't loaded for long enough or some villagers didn't accually work
If they are the same type of villagers how do some work and others don't??
Thank you for providing the detailed mechanics. It's easy to find for Java, but not as commonly explained for Bedrock.

Done.
i dont understand
can u do a video on how to fix broken villager trading halls and breeders ?
Silent I need help!
Built your starter iron farm in my solo world, works like a charm. Built it on my friends realm, exactly the same, but all I can get is cats. No other workstations, beds or bells in over 100 blocks, and I’ve broken and re linked all the beds and workstations in the farm multiple times. Any other suggestions?

Thank you so much! My issue was that I had more villagers than beds. I had 20+ villagers and 20 beds, so I added 4 beds then everything started working.
Why didn't you eliminate the extra villagers?
Thank you! I love knowing the logic behind these things. With this, I can create my own and not have to rely on someone else’s tutorial.
Make sure if you have the farm type where the villagers are trapped in a 1 block space and there are ten of them, make sure the water is in the cage, I had everything else perfectly set up but that threw me off
I love learning about the mechanics of the game. An Silentwhisper is always the best one to watch to learn the mechanics of Bedrock. Thanks so much.
Thank you for this information on the mechanics of iron farms! It really helped me as I was getting VERY low volume spawning. The issue was the beds being too low from the spawning platform so I moved it up a little and that fixed the problem! 💕
Let's just call him 'The chosen one' because minecraft chose his bed to be the centre. Every one will be happy 🙂
i don't normally upvote a video,, but i need these types of videos so that i can learn these things. keep it up silent!
Just used this on the trading hall farm, thanks so much
What do you do about the villagers unlinking from their stations regardless of standing in water or not. I have also had them completely switch trades in my trading hall when they are fully maxed out. I have reported the bug, but it doesn't seem like mojang really cares to fix it with the update coming up. I had reported it like 6 months ago or better.
Do you have beds?
Just wish it would work when I was further away.

how did you know I wanted this?
My farm wasn’t working for a while, but when watching the video all of a sudden it started working ironically, when you were talking about the only thing I haven’t done and that was lit an entire day pass without sleeping so that way they could work and then have worked for that previous day
It is annoying how inconsistent they spawn though
I wouldn’t say there is no reason to have more than 20. My iron farm is a trade hall as well and I use 40 villagers for trading.
there is no reason to have more than 20 villagers if an iron farm is the only purpose.
He meant rates wise it doesn't do anything so yeah you can have more than 20 but you'll still get the same drop rates as the 20 villager iron farm
Finally someone with theory and not just "do this and then this"
Thanks brotha
It's funny bc I literally was having this problem not even an hour before this video was posted
Your videos are good luck, my Iron farm was broken and after I watched it and did ABSOLUTELY nothing, it started working again.
I have built one of your farm. That farm where you have platform campfire on lava block and 10 villagers. I have more than 10 villager in that box and 10 have jobs . Water is there and beds too . I have replaced beds and they are not spawning . Need help
Edit: just cat spawns and I'm under the farm . Should i be more away or not?
This is happening to me too
It just keeps on spawning cats. Please help me out if your farm starts working.
Did you give them food? If you have only one pod and have 20 beds (the minimum) they probably bred babies and grew up. Your farm probably broke because the babies that grew up ddont have any work benches.
Same mine is exactly the like told
@@MrPurple-vy8tn does it not work if the extra villagers don’t have jobs??

Can you do a video similar to this but for trading halls? The issue I have with my current one is villagers constantly unlink from their workstations or they wont refresh their inventories. It would help a ton. Thank you for all the amazing bedrock content as well!
Put water on the block on which villagers are standing.
That might help..... :)
You got to get them into a cage where they have access to their workstations, and make sure that all of them are linked to a bed
The linking part fixed my iron farm. Thanks a lot! :)
@@akashh435 yeah that’s maddening too - if I understand correctly that’s because the game considers them entities when they’re moving

You're posting this and I'm still working on the quad iron farm cause the villager part is incredibly hard

I used a bubble column with a stream at the top that would push them right in place. Put a button above the block in their chamber to keep the water from drowning them.

does trading with villagers affect the farm
I guess nope. Better locate your trading center far away from farm, so golems wouldn't spawn in unwanted places

Is making iron golems can lower the rates of iron farm?
Yes, if somehow near your iron farms and you don't kill them you will get lower rates or even none if those golems aren't spawning where they should be.

You know what, after several tries i guess you are absolutly right, we dont need more than 20 villagers on our iron farm its just useless, i mean all my iron farms work perfectly with 20 villagers, every time i try to make one of 40 villagers i cant make it work nowadays, it doesnt even spawn a single golem.. so im guessing that youre right 20 villagers its the optimal number, and its not like we cant get tons of iron, because even with just 20 villagers the farms produce a big amount of iron, in any case we feel we need more iron we should just do another one of 20 and thats it
THANK YOU! I almost lost hope. Breaking the workstation, and the trick you showed worked perfectly.
Can someone please help my iron golems are not spawning they used to spawn but now are not. I have done everything as well
1 free advice from me that you should make your iron farm in the ocean I mean above the ocean so you should have iron farm, string farm, flower farm and fish farm as I don't know if it really works but it is working in my world so the choice is yours
I’m on PS4 and golems just refuse to spawn in water. They spawn everywhere other than water and I patched it all up with leaves. Now no golems spawn. I have never had one spawn in water I don’t know what is wrong.
you need to build the platforms out of solid blocks, not slabs:)
the water has nothing to do with it, its the blocks below the water!
Thanks for the reply. My platform however is made out of solid blocks. I’m going to try move it upwards one block maybe that will fix it.
Took all day but I finally have one working on Minecraft pe on my ipad, had a few set back a couple of swearing fits so I widened the villager holding pen and removed all work stations remotely close and now I’m glad I didn’t quit when I was swearing at escaped villagers
Things I found out while making this… sometimes you may get to a point where you put workstations down in front of them but didn’t link them so for my car I had three groups of five and they were in separate little “cells” so to find the right villager to be linked I removed all workstations (sometimes villagers will keep their job which can make it a pain) and then I would place down one workstation, find the villager who got the link go back remove the workstation and then replace it in front of them rinse and repeat until all are linked) if still not working if they are in a single block try placing water in there
Question: increasing the amount of villagers, increases the amount of golems?
