When we trek through those hills and can not find the host of a food event such as a local wedding, we remind ourselves to "find the smoke!". Watching this from Europe makes me homesick. Kiangan is my hometown and that's my barangay region. It would be supercold and wet there from December to February. The weather and the terrain can be inhospitable, but you promoted the warmth and the comfort. Thanks for articulating the essence of our local food. I am proud of my heritage but only regarded our food as an acquired taste for adventurous non-locals. It was only when I was far from home trying simply prepared pasta in a farm in Modena, Italy that I began to reflect about our uncomplicated traditional cuisine. #culturalpride #traditionalcuisine

Resulta ng eamwork. galing ako sa isang bayan malapit sa Kiangan at ganyan ang kaugalian dito. Malakas ang community spirit at volunteerism dito sa cordillera. Yung nakita mo na ang mga kasama mo'y may ginagawa ay automatic na alam mo na ang gawin mo kaai nakakahiya na naging "pabigat" sa grupo.

That “lituko” made my mouth water from remembering its sourness, the sweetness of the marang makes me crave for it and all the meats and vegetables by the smoking fire makes me homesick.
