Great tip! Another thing I do that smashes the urge almost immediately is to visualize EXACTLY WHERE I’m going to store that item. So if it’s shoes, I picture my shoe rack with all the shoes already on it and realize there’s not room for another pair. If it’s wall decor, I visualize which room and which wall. If it’s a kitchen gadget, I picture the exact cabinet and the space it will take up. If I don’t have the cabinet space then obviously I can’t buy the item. If it’s a cute storage tote, I must know exactly what items will be placed in the tote and where it will be stored. Every purchase must have an assigned home before it even leaves the store!
That’s amazing! I think this also goes hand-in-hand with the advice to put empty hangers away (not let them hanging in the closet so it would enforce buying) so when you visualize where to put a clothing item, you most likely don’t think „oh I still have hangers in the attic to put in my closet“ when thinking about buying that clothing item. I hope my point came across fine, English is not my first language :)
Great content 🎉 thank you for sharing this helpful idea I find it helpful ❤ "living below your means" adjust your lifestyle, be frugal, budget, save and invest. This helped me out as a 6 figure earner. I've grown over a million in retirement savings with this method
There's a lot of investing options real estate, stocks, crypto, ETFs, but my best advice get a professional lead you into profitable one and make good financial decisions
Investing is a good one, I advice everyone prioritize profitable investment now, you'll be thrilled at the decision you made today in a few months. Great recommendations on here 👍🏻
Thank you for this. I found it very helpful. I acquired loads of stuff when I was unhappy in my marriage. Now, over 10 years later, I’m still decluttering it all! And thinking about all the money I spent. But I guess it was a coping strategy for that time.
I recently looked at photos from 20 years ago of rooms in my previous apartment absolutely clutter free, so pleasing to the eye. I am now working towards that look again.
I love this idea. So often we buy something then later decide to get rid of it but can never recoup the money. Seeing how much can be saved by not buying items is really motivating.
This is a really good idea. I have a wish list but I don't put down the prices. If I see something that isn't on the list when browsing online I pause and think if I have something else like it. If I do have something I take that money and place it on debt instead of purchasing the item.
🎉lol, I saw on your list, a new hose for garden. I just bought a new hose yesterday. I will say that I had been looking at if for a while and I really did need it. Yesterday it was on sale for 10.00 off so I did buy it. I really like your idea. It is a way to visually see how much money we are capable of spending if we do not stay aware. Hope you are feeling okay.
This works so well. I have a list of things I’m “Thinking of Buying.” Time is a powerful tool. Once the initial impulse passes, most things are not as attractive and are easy to pass up. And the things I do still buy are more likely to be good purchases.
I wish making the list could work for me but it actually increases my want for it. It’s like knowing the cookies are hidden deep in the kitchen cabinet. Must be out of my house to be out of my mind. The list is like an energy cord of my most wanted things just taunting me lol. Plus, when I fail and buy said thing on the list, the shame is way worse. Just like with sugar, I stop looking period. I removed all social media from my phone including Pinterest which was a sneaky trigger for me to want things. I guess I’m a cold turkey person vs gradual lessening
What if you write things down on a list of paper and throw it out? Then allow time to go by, and write a new list. Maybe if the same item shows up on the new list even after throwing the old list out, you could think about buying it.
Thank you for the tip! I will defiantly try this method. I think taking a positive approach instead of beating myself up about spend may be the change that I need, Thanks again!
this is good idea. I did it for a while and it was fun and encouraging. so often I make lists of things I want to do, like buy or declutter. then ofcourse I get really obsessive about the list until I can get or declutter all those things, which can induce restlessness. I feels good to make lists that are just celebratory !
This is amazing advice, I've never thought of it this way. I'll be adding a spreadsheet to my phone ASAP! Also considering adding up how much I've saved by not buying things each month and putting that amount of money away in a true long term, don't look at it kinda saving account. Thank you ❤
After using your link to buy three more deodorants from a brand I already use haha I did start to implement this little system in a journal I carry around with me. I guess it would be more clever to keep it in a digital format but I really want my journal to be a source of positivity for me as often as possible
So, I think this could be helpful, BUT I am wondering.... Let's say I was really tempted to get a dress online. I decide against it and then write it down. Then I am tempted to make another clothing purchase but decide against it. I think if had I bought the dress, I might not even consider the second or or further purchases. So it really doesn't add up for ALL the things one is tempted to buy, right? Not trying to be argumentative, just curious if I am the only one who thinks like this. For example, for four days I have wanted to go buy an ice cream sundae. Does that mean I have saved $20? Or did I just save $5 once???? Help me here.
I know it's ironic to ask but I really like the black bag that appears later in the video. Do you mind sharing the info about it? I'll write it down and consider it before making a purchase. 😉
haha, no I get it! When you find the right bag you gotta go for it. I think you're talking about the Clare V bag -- I think it's the "Moyen Messenger" in black. Just to warn you -- it's pricey (definitely my most expensive piece), but I was able to get a promo code on sale or you might be able to find it secondhand on poshmark sometime! Hope that's helpful!
The only thing missing from your channel is the religion aspect of it, I don’t know if you’re religious or not but I love these type of channels when they incorporate Jesus and biblical life

Yes it's been helpful to my general income I make about an extra 2k from my general income
There's a lot of investing options real estate, stocks, crypto, ETFs, but my best advice get a professional lead you into profitable one and make good financial decisions
I definitely agree with you on this. You're right a financial consultant will be of so much help about investing
I recommend Rachel Blanc, she's a good one I've been working with her for a good time

What a great idea. I write down lists of what I want to buy but not the price. Thank you.
Hannah Louise Postan talks about this too - the 'Wishlist and Wait'. It definitely works for me ❤
I do appreciate this method is slightly different but sentiment remains the same. Hugely helpful.
This works so well. I have a list of things I’m “Thinking of Buying.” Time is a powerful tool. Once the initial impulse passes, most things are not as attractive and are easy to pass up. And the things I do still buy are more likely to be good purchases.
I compile "Wish Lists"- If items stay on the list after a good amount of time has passed, I will then go and purchase them

Thank you for all of your killer content! It helps keep me motivated. Also, you should know that you look absolutely stunning FYI.💕
loved this tip elin!! will be implementing this for sure!
Wonderful idea! Thank you so much. I really enjoy all of your videos and tips.
Great strategy especially for ppl who are visual, thanks.
good point!
I really thought you were going to say cash budgeting but I think it was just wishful thinking to be validated by one of my favorite UA-camrs ❤❤
Thank you for the great tip. I am going to try it.
You have accepted Your Calling in Life !🙂
I love Native products, deodorant is the best I have ever used!
Brilliant tip, definitely going to try this! Sadly Native stopped shipping to my country ages ago 😐

lol thanks for doing that/the support! And that's wonderful--just writing it down in your journal is a smart move! Thanks for sharing :)
Love Native products!

I love this idea. I have tried it before but honestly forgot about it. Thanks for the video. They are super helpful. Love your channel! Xo Lindsey

I think every time you have the impulse in a new situation you can count it, if you're pining for the same dress again and again it's 1 save
I have a wants wishlist. I clean it out monthly( I delete the wants).
What is that list maker you are typing on in the video that adds everything up?
I know it's ironic to ask but I really like the black bag that appears later in the video. Do you mind sharing the info about it? I'll write it down and consider it before making a purchase. 😉

What program did you make your ‘things I didn’t buy’ list in?
i think she said she uses a spread sheet/excel
but she also said keeping a running list on your phone would work too. i'm going to try that!
Early! 🤍

I would absolutely stop watching her if she talked about the Bible.
Omg, you are talking about minimalist life and recommending how to spend money on stupid things 😢😮
Gosh, I think you’ve missed the point of this video!! Though big ups to you if you never need deodorant 😅
