    Hi Laura! I love all your fabrics! I love the giraffe so I don’t mind being three 😂 giraffes are my favourite animal 😊I love the nomi dress and I definitely think you should jump on the sirocco train xx

      Hi Mandy! Thank you! I forgot about your giraffe love 🦒! I will have to check out the fabric requirements for the sirocco. I will probably go for the Nomi but of course I’m now looking for more fabric to toile it as I don’t have many large pieces of jersey! Xx

    Thank you for showing your fabrics. About the giraffe fabric: i would make a t-shirt, like you said, using this for the front. Since the fabric seems to be narrow, i would add some side panels of grey/black and make the sleeves and the back from the same fabric. I'm 52, so i know the feeling of supposed to have a more mature taste :-) but who cares? I think a t-shirt like that would be totally fun for just lounging at home, sewing, doing housework etc. Hope to see what you make out of it.

      So glad you share my views about wearing what you like at any age! Thanks so much for commenting! I like the idea of using black as a contrast, thank you.

    I recently bought some of the Tokyo nightlife lawn - my plan for it is an Assembly Line oversized shirt, with short sleeves. The sleeves will have contrast bands in a cobalt blue lawn, and I'll make the collar and collar stand in the contrast too. So that's MY cunning plan to tame a wild fabric. A bit of structure and a bit of something to give a clean edge to it.
    As for the giraffe, I LOVE it and I don't think you should give up on it. I'd probably stabilize it with interfacing then cut it out and applique it onto the back of a denim jacket.

      Your shirt sounds awesome. I think I’ll probably be fine wearing something made up in the fabric, but it was definitely an impulse purchase!
      Glad you like the giraffe 🦒 too and thanks so much for the suggestion.

    Hi Laura I made the Tokyo fabric into Chalk & Notch Fringe dress and love it! So many fabrics we all have and the amounts we have spent 😮 surely we need to make more and buy less! I am trying hard not to look at many fabric shops and flick past as they come up on my feed as I am easily sucked in. Stash Hub helped me realise how many metres I have but need to sew something every week and still have some left next year 😳🤣 wouldn’t stop me travelling to a good show and fancy The Stitch Festival 😊 I look forward to seeing what you decide for all those fabrics xx

      I think I have an idea of what to do with some of them now. Going to try not to buy too much at the NEC next week but you never know! I definitely want to work through my stash though!

    If you interface the stretch giraffe fabric, it will essentially be a woven then - and perhaps more useful as a bag then. I've got a child sized tshirt panel here (baby orangutan) that I can't work out what to do with so I'll be watching keenly. Imagine a large handbag with that giraffe face! My stash has got too big for me. I have a small sewing space and I'd like to have much less fabric on hand to give me more breathing room in my tiny sewing area. A lot of it dates back to 2020 when I bought anything I could online because it was so hard to get fabric back then (here). While I was still a beginner I turned into a fabric hoarder because of those supply issues, and I need to start buying more mindfully AFTER clearing out all this fabric. I would like to buy more linen and more Lady McElroy for work shirts. I can't decide if I should also be on a pattern buying freeze and use existing patterns for using up my stash - I have a lot of PDF patterns that I haven't tried yet. Looking forward to the follow up videos to see how you use these fabrics, I really liked the floral one at the end, it was far more interesting and a better colour match (I think).

      Thanks so much for the giraffe 🦒 suggestion. My sewing journey sounds very like yours - my pattern stash is huge too. Quite when I’m going to make all these things I have no idea!

    I think a dress in the chocolate brown would be rather severe. The flare trousers might be more suitable, and a good neutral wardrobe option.

      I agree, Margaret. I think that’s probably what I’ll do.

    I always enjoy your vlogs, Laura. I do think a dress in the solid colour, brown jersey might be a bit much, a bit draining maybe. I've still not rescued my Pogonip. It's languishing in the corner where I threw it when I realised how awful it is! Bad, bad fabric choice... 🤔

    • @SewVeryLaura
      @SewVeryLaura  7 місяців тому

      Thank you, Liz. You might ge right about the brown dress, unless I wear it with a scarf but that’s a bit limiting.
      What fabric did you try the Pogonip in?

      @@SewVeryLaura I made the ill fated Pogonip in a lovely, prequilted fabric from Higgs and Higgs. It defeated my machines.
