Record-Breaking $6,436,355 Grand Prize! Meet December's Thunder Bay 50/50 Winners!

- We had the pleasure of meeting Natalie and Clem here in Thunder Bay to present them with their record-breaking Grand Prize winnings of $6.43 million! This is the largest hospital 50/50 prize ever awarded in Canada; and maybe even the world! The couple made the trip up from Hanmer, Ontario, and even got stuck in traffic on the way (which they joked was "just their luck").
Natalie and Clem shared a lot about what the past few days have been like for them; lots of tears, emotions, and gratitude for all the kind words they've received from both our community and theirs through social media. They noted that they’re just ordinary people who had something extraordinary happen to them. Both feel incredibly humbled by their big windfall and are continuing to support the Thunder Bay 50/50 every month, just like they have for years.
Other than buying a new Cadillac Escalade and making sure their family is taken care of, there aren’t any big plans, Clem shared. “Nothing. We’re redoing our house, staying where we are,” he said. “We’re very plain people,” Natalie added. “We love to fish.” Clem nodded with a smile. “We’re going to be doing a lot of fishing and camping.” “It’s Friday every day,” Natalie chimed in, laughing.
Both Natalie, who has worked as a city bus operator for 18 years, and Clem plan to retire. However, Clem, who has been off work since before Christmas due to hand surgery, said he’s still willing to lend a hand if needed. “If he really, really, really, really needs me,” Clem joked about his boss.
The couple teared up as they recalled sharing the news with their three children. Their daughter was on the phone with Natalie during Craig’s call on January 3. One of their sons found out when he landed in Toronto, heading back to Calgary after visiting Hanmer. Their second son didn’t hear the news until hours later when he surfaced from his mining job.
“He had a problem with his drill, and as he came up to the surface, he passed a Wi-Fi station and said his phone was going ballistic,” Natalie said. “He saw my text: ‘You’re a millionaire, call me.’ He called me right away and asked, ‘What’s going on?’ I told him we won the Thunder Bay 50/50, and he just started crying.”
The Bigras plan to give each of their children at least $1 million from their winnings.

I am always dreaming of this for my family, kids to better there lives, we have a new granddaughter and want all the best for her and play to dream of one day being able to win and better all there lives, so good to see it going to such simular people that have good family and will better there lives like I would with my family.. Please be careful...getting a plate saying TB 50/50...that could bring some harmful consequences and never drive to Mexico if you do get that plate ( look at recent media). You seem like beautiful people.... people I wish I knew well before the lottery ( lifelong bestie in Vancouver and travelling too much for her relationship, and no family...hard to find kind solid ppl these days, really refreshing to see people so genuine. Very happy for you. Love the remarks you made about the male presenter. I applaud your viewpoints that differ from society putting persons in a box ie men cant feel or express emotion. I have transit experience and can really relate and can only imagine some of the stuff she went through on her job.... so happy you were able to leave a job so unsafe on many level. Big Congratulations to you both. Your dispositions have really touched me.
Advice: do something for your health - start slowly eating healthy and exercise. Get a home gym and meal plan. That will be the best thing you can spend on. As a health care professional you guys look high risk for diabetes and stroke. It takes WORK but do it
