I say this time and again. Put a deck chair in the corner of that engine room and some "refreshments" and I could sit and watch Jay build 2JZ's all day. 😎👍
You'll get it amigo. But now that we're both here, you said you had just an 88mm, not an 88/108! What the hell bro?! 😂🤣 Overkill much? 😛 Definitely the 85/103 will be much better and with Jay and Geo proving it with 6.70s already, you know it's more than enough. 😎👍 Maybe even the 91mm front later on. 😈
New to geeking out/being a car enthusiast and Real st. channel is by far one of my favorites. Jay knows his engines and I enjoy listening and watch him be a Wizard 🔥🤘
Cooking the oil is an ingenious idea. The benefits of it are ideal. Evaporation of extra fuel mixed in the oil 💡 and then it being warm before starting up for the next round 🔔 AWESOME!!! If y’all don’t know already MIR gets 🥶 and a lot of extra stress is put on these engines from the temperatures there.
These "fly on a wall" unscripted videos are the best. Just to hang around and learn more and more from Jay. Thanks again! Not that I'd ever be chasing more than 800 in my build is very interesting to hear what happens when you double that power!
I wish there were more people like Jay over here in the UK. I want to do a streetable and reliable 1000bhp build and yet I'm confused by the many different options and routes to choose. Also in my area mechanics aren't very knowledgeable and I'm super fussy about who I let touch my cars. If I had the money I'd opt to ship to or buy from RealStreet for sure!
i have an e92 335i drag car thats a wet sleeved darton n54 block with 12:1 compression, wiseco pistons and boostline rods, ported n53 head, 288/284 +12mm cams, inconel /titanium vales, ferrea springs, running on maxxecu, port injection only with a 250 shot of direct port wet nitrous. its setup for 9000rpm but limited to the 8500rpm. the first engine i built with this setup, the oil wasnt getting warm enough to cycle after staging or if the car wasnt warmed up for 10-15 minute. Racing pushing 30psi of boost and spraying goofy gas above 6000rpm was too much for the oem oiling system. i learned about those oil pan heaters the hard way myself. took a while to figure out wich oil to run, how to setup the pistons for said oil, and fuel etc. I highly recommend the oil pan heaters and an accusump system, would have saved me 10 grand.
Yup, when tuning customers 60% of the guys lug their engines in daily driving below 1500rpm (obviously not happening here) and off the first datalog we see knocks all over the place. We try to educate our customers the Honda Jseries larger displacement engine (3.5 and especially 3.7) do not like lugging. We can pull enough timing to stop it but the car will be lethargic and many times it's on the customer to change their driving habits, which sometimes don't happen so we yank the timing. I'm just saying high loads at low RPM is not good, that's all I'm getting at
What a shame! I wonder if having an egt warning could have helped avoid this. I just want to say thank you Jay for helping out Pedro. Seeing Pedro going 6s in the WCF is going to be epic! LETS GO BALTIC SUPRA RACING!
The EGT sensor would go from normal to dead in a nanosecond. Nitrous is a band-aid solution because of improper turbo selection. Fix the root cause and you don’t end up with a torched head.
@@TML34 the turbo size needed to run a 6 sec time will always have lag on our small engines. Nitrous will continue to be part of the equation just hopefully less of it with the changes I have made.
Could listen to Jay all day! What a legend and guru! Where do I get one of those sump heaters by the way? I’m in the UK, gets cold here and it seems like a great idea.
McLeod makes a line launch kit for manual transmissions you can stage up a manual just like an auto with a trans brake I’m sure Tilton has something similar too
Yeah.... I kinda figured that it was way too much...Boost. 💥💥💥. You should get Jay on board with you tuning this baby for the track. No disrespect for your tuner but Jay knows what too and not too in the aspect of racing this platform with huge power as you have. Either way it's a huge learning curve. Now go back and get what's yours. 🌟🌟🌟💯🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁😉
@15:30 Are you guys talking Temperatures in Fahrenheit or Celsius ? Also is that for Race Engines only? What would you consider good for Street/Race Application CLT & Oil Temps ?
I don't think 150-160 starting oil temp in Celsius would work very well :D I personally get off track once water gets to 100C and oil is 110'ish max, although I know good oil can be pushed further (130s).
@@TML34 Whether you're mixing anti-freeze or running a higher pressure rad cap, you can increase the boiling point of your cooling system a fair bit, so 100C is fairly acceptable I would say.

My understanding is the 64/66 is the most recommended and praised "Goldilocks" turbo size on the 2JZ platform without requiring nitrous to spool. Jay, do you agree it "doesn't belong on a Supra"?
Jay thinks the 64/66 is a great everyday turbo. He has made as much as 1018whp with it on a Supra. I’m the one who likes the larger more powerful turbos.
recently I saw a cylinder head with something like a passage of flow between the two valves exhaust, admission, I think to avoid this phenomenon of deterioration
nothing like turning a cylinder into an oxy torch and melt it down . that cyl got more air or not enough fuel . do number 2 cyl usually go in 2j engines when you put a huge turbine on it and run certain boost levels . engines all have their quirks when you up the volumes of air . fluid dynamics do weird things when flows get pushed . or did you just have an injector not upto the task with the boost and nitrous were on full noise .
Your correct, Jay believes it’s a great everyday turbo for 800-900 hp range. I’m the one who is it not a fan. I rather start with a 76/75 to achieve that same goal and have room to grow. Also more speaking to the eye under the hood lol
I am very poor and all I want to do is build my blown up g35. Will you guys please help me. I don’t want money. If any way possible will you guys please help me with parts. My dream is to make my first pass on a drag strip. I have never been on one or even seen one in person. But I watch and wait for every one of your videos and Cleetus McFarlands videos 1320video,KSR,pfi speed etc. I just want and dream to go fast but will never be able to afford it.
UA-cam MUST pay well. This guy and his wife quit their full time job and went full time UA-cam, sold their house, purchased high $$ motor home, full size trailer, the CJ5, multiple motors in the Supra with an EASY $400k+ in that Supra ...

Hi fresh air anti lag could work? Love to se some other source of anti lag to spool big turbos. Cheers great videos!
My favorite phrase Jay said was “mechanical diarrhea” but it totally makes sense lol.

Love the videos! So informative
Not sure if they are running a dump valve to let the converter get up to rpm but if not it would help drastically.
Jay mentions it at 13:30
Do you think that anti-lag would be best for the 108mm turbo vs the nitrous?
Great content guys.

You have given us a wealth of knowledge through these videos Jay. Thank you.
Great vid. Too bad companies like Dart/ World Products dont offer heavy duty cast blocks and heads for popular imports like they do with domestics.
Other companies do, I think platinum racing
Surprised they’re honing/repairing just one cylinder instead of starting over completely. Great video and build.
Dump Valve on Converter to help loosen it when stalling up?
Did you have direct port nitrous?
Not a 2jz guy but like to watch the builds ...
Does a converter dump help ?

@jay what about putting a procharger on the car wouldn't it spool quicker?.
its parasitic
How much nitrous did it take to blow it up? I'm asking so I don't make the same mistake. Big turbo/auto small ci car here.
What do you think or have any experience on a Compound set up?

Why not sequential Turbos or Twin parallel smaller turbos? Maybe a supercharger to spool the Turbo...

I'm curious why you are not using compound turbo system like 4 cylinder guys?
because they're not at 1000hp per litre yet
Yooo! Block heaters! Never thought of them as race car ish before!
Baltic Supra Racing ❤
I would love to convert an inline 6 Cummins diesel engine, to a petrol engine, like a 2JZ. I think that would be so cool.

In my opinion if a person is running a turbo they don't need nos also because they're just asking for problems
Why should a 64/66 not be on a supra? I was under the impression it a outstanding street turbo for less then 900whp...

It’s an addiction!!!
Why didnt he go to, "jesse'? he could of tune it for 6s with a nitrous fogger with a standalone fuel management system.
