- Welcome back, this is a long awaited and promised video to document my journey with #motability & #SEAT to get my new car.

Thank you for making this video…seeing someone who is younger and navigating the obstacles disability presents is very encouraging. I think I’m going to qualify for the higher rate after appealing as I already had 10 points…the thought of beginning to understand how to get a car is daunting…to see the chap in the dealership welcome you and know what to expect has taken away some of my anxiety.
You are very very welcome! I'm so glad it has helped you in that way... I hate that people have to appeal something that they should just be getting but I hope and I'm pretty sure it will be awarded all appeals seem to... It's just an unnecessary stress and extra step.

Thank you Lee…definitely very stressful but I’m trying to look at it as another life experience that will hopefully help someone else one day. There’s a couple of people on UA-cam that I watch that have had to navigate the disability minefield and they really are inspiring. It helps to know a bit about the fire 🔥 before you have to walk through it.
On the whole we are a good bunch of creators! It's always good to put stuff out there that can help people in the way you wished you could have had. Getting a car is one of the best experience for me, the freedom is amazing!

You're very welcome. I'm glad you enjoyed and liked it. Yes Jason was very easy to talk to and natural. I personally like it when you can have some humour and have a laugh.. with all things including my disability. So many people are awkward and worried about what to do or say so much that you can't just have a flowing conversation. Being able to have joke can ease that.
@@JustRollinThruLife I'm looking at cars now myself. It's a mine field. How do you know hoist wise I'd you'll get a big chair in the boot?
I've recently seen some companies on Instagram, they fit a hoist/arm in the boot that comes out, connects to the chair and lifts it in and out. I'll get on the laptop later and link them in the comments 😁.

If I were you I would first go for Electric Seats and then sunroof, these 2 are make getting in and out much more easy and enjoying cabin .

Lee Jeffrey yes I have just ordered a car on mobility and have to wait a couple of months as it is being built just now. I really can’t wait. My dealer was so helpful and was aware of the whole system and only wanted to help. A pleasant experience..cheers
Hi buddy just abit advise from fellow hand control user. Try resting your arm on the door rest and thumb on the steering wheel and pull your hand control using your fingers it stops arm ache and much more easier

This is really good I’m due to change my car in September and looking for cars to shortlist thanks for sharing . I need one to hold a rollator or a wheelchair when I get one .

Thank you I currently have a Vauxhall mokka x but want a bigger boot and another suv as I like being higher up . I will look at my local seat dealer . Plus I want a boot that is easier to open like an electric one .

Just found your channel. My daughter who’s 17 has just been awarded the enhanced rate of PIP so we will be joining Motability soon. I have found since we have been looking the choices are limited this year? Why is that? General lack of stock? They also offer £250 when you join the scheme this year which she is very happy about 🙄 lol will subscribe
Choices have changed a lot... It is more limited now it seems or the deposit amounts have gone up high compared to recent years. I think they will blame Brexit, the pandemic and all the other things going on in the world. Also I think they are going to try and push people in to electric vehicles, wish atm I'm not the biggest fan of... but it will happen.

@@JustRollinThruLife yes , we decided to go for an SUV because my wife cant bend to get into lower cars ..in and out etc . we are just staying with Vauxhall and getting a grandland x
Hey thanks for this video, I’m in the process of getting my first car through the scheme. I’m nervous about getting used to the push pull accelerator and brake, I’ve driven for years regular manual cars and vans. Been in a chair for about 18months now and was wondering if you could give me any tips? I’m after the Audi Q2
Hey mate you are very welcome, I'm glad it was able to help you in some way. From looking quickly at the motability options at audi... the have a full range of the Q2 in auto form £960+ up to £1,960+ advanced deposit... depending on what spec you are after.

I ordered my new vehicle on 1/8/2022 still have not received it and vauxhall cañot tell me when I will receive it, and as for the upfront payment because I need an automatic estate why is it so much more expensive than a manual saloon.

They don't do them on the scheme no myself but I was always told you can have whatever you like but you wouldn't have to pay the difference motability doesn't cover, I'm not 100% if that's still the case 😂.. If I could I'd definitely have a cupra! Love them! Thank you mate! Happy you enjoyed the video.

Depending my friend, I had to wait longer because they had no cars in stock the colour I wanted, had I picked a blue I would have had it quicker. Its should be faster for you. You will still have to wait a little while for them to get the car from wherever and to have any adaptions (if needed). But as you've been awarded you can go and sort all that out right now. @@Biggie177 no worries man, I will always respond 😊... The payment is always made on the day you pick up your new car. They will never make you pay before then. Plus I lot of car have £0 advance payment depending on what you want.. Obviously the better spec the more advanced payment.. But do search before some manufacturers make you pay a big advance payment for the bagde and the car specs are still bad.. I've found Honda and BMW to be like that when I've been looking.

Yh I been looking alot yesterday online I got my eyes on some. I like the Volkswagen Passat,Hyundai Tucson, or the skoda ateca. Need something with big driver seat. And they all have high advance. Dont mind it. Can borrow aswel. But is good to know u can pay once the car is ready aswell gives u breathing time
@@Biggie177 I get you! Probably because of the size of them cars plus they might not have as much mass production of those models as say a hatchback, golf, leon, focus, so they don't try to push them as much with the deals. Ohh yes it's gooood to have time to save up 😂... I remember that feeling when I was new to this and not knowing anything 😂. Also just incase you weren't aware, you can't just go to any Dealership of the car you like the have to have a motability specialist, but they will show all your nearest ones online.

From what I remember no, if you are eligible for a car with motability then it is all sorted with the motability part of your pip or dla.

how much do you pay a month?
If you get the higher right mobility part of DLA or PIP... Then this is the part of your benefit that pays for your motability car.
@@JustRollinThruLife do you pay extra on top of that or is it just your pip/DLA
Can someone explain me one thing please, how you get 12 points on your mobility component, you're just wheel chaired person, and you can do everything on this wheelchair...
I have Ms and almost every aspect of my life is affected and I got only 11 points...
This is mind blowing...
I can tell you now that I most definitely cannot do everything from my wheelchair and do need a lot of help and assistance from family and friends.... spending a lot of time in pain. I feel for you and I know MS is a debilitating disability... sometimes they make mistakes and you have to appeal the decision... Many people do and get a different outcome. You should understand that what you see on the surface is not someone's full self or disability.... saying someone is just a wheelchair user is unfair.

I have filled up this form which dwp send me but honestly this form is not enough to describe how I fell everyday...
I wonder how long I have to wait now for this assessment...
And hopefully I will be awarded enchance mobility rate...

I truly hope you get to decision you want and deserve.
I'm not sure how they are doing the assessments right now... but a lot of things are opening up so maybe you'll be able to do it face to face .... sometimes it is better for people to see a person than just read a form and make a decision. A lot of people get overwhelmed by all the forms you have to fill out, some get confused by them, some like yourself say there's more to say about ones disability than can be put on paper... but I do know that it's very stressful which doesn't help anyone and they conditions. I also know from reports online that almost all appeals are overturn people get the help they need and deserve. But trust me I know the stress that all brings. When we are disabled people just want to be as independent and free as possible to live life the best we can.

The deposit for an automatic is terrible
It all depends on what car, manufacturer and specs you are going for. A lot are nil advanced payment. I drive an auto and the most I think I've paid was £350 for my first car. 13/14 years ago. Obviously there are some that you pay more for, given what I said above or a person's particular needs. But when you think about what you're getting, all the stuff motability covers and the hassle and worry free driving... I think it's awesome for disabled people's confidence and independence.
