Years ago when working at a greenhouse, I potted one up and grew it on into a HUGE pot....it managed to make it up to over 6 feet....and produced tons of exquisite fruit.
Was in Iowa so it needed to stay inside of course...too big to move outside, but it loved the heat inside that greenhouse over the summer.

Thanks Ben, looking in your playlist for a Black Jack tasting and can't locate. Have you done so?

Ben, looks like a lot of water stress for 80 in Seattle in organic material. what are you fertilizing with? how much? how often? I live in the Sonoran Desert.

Have you gotten some crazy growth on your figs this year? My green ischia went from maybe 3 feet to up over 7 feet already this year. it has both crops on it, main crop figs are already the size right before they ripen . My desert king has both, I think the main will ripen this year . A few of my other fig varieties are also going crazy with growth and setting figs. Even my drown turkey has hundreds of big fat figs . This year is awesome .

I am in USDA zone 7B in North Carolina...we can have some cold here. I got cuttings from someone who has some huge trees and he said they are not producing as much this year because they are still recovering from the previous two winters.

I've been keeping a regular feeding schedule and yes the plants seem to be growing like bamboo this time of year.

Ben B. I just looked at the one that I popped a shoot in the ground last fall and was happy it made it through the winter...it is now almost 3 feet tall!

Love your fig videos. I see that you are in Seattle, I just started with figs last year in Portland, Do you leave your
potted figs outside all winter or do you bring them indoors?
