I’ve been throwing a Fireball for around a year now, and I describe it as a faster flat top Firebird or Splice. The edge is a little sharper and makes it feel a tick faster than the others. Where the Felon, Firebird, and Raptor rely on blunt edge to take away some speed and make it fade, the Fireball is just tooled to make it fade. Personally, I think the Fireball is a great option for the overstable shot that you want to skip, but can see the downside if you just want more lateral air movement on your shots. Also, if you don’t have enough power to throw it hard and have it fly straight for a while, I can see where the Fireball seems unusable to some (much like the Splice).
I found this similiar across most of MVP/Axiom discs. Instead of hanging the bump on the rim like a lot of Innova and some other companies discs have like the TeeBird or Thunderbird, MVP just makes the disc overstable without slowing it down during it’s flight.
100% its form issues. Without looking at your form, I'd guess you're strong arming the disc. I had the same problem with soreness after a couple of rounds.
I started playing near the end of 2020. Felon was my first overstable 9 speed, and it's still in my bag. My first felon is really beat in, so it's just slightly overstable now, I threw a Ricky fuzion orbit felon in the bag which seems a lot more overstable than I remember my lucid felon ever being. I never tried any other overstable 9 speed because of how much I love my felon. My beat-in felon is the oldest disc in my bag and is my go-to disc for forehand or backhand when I really need a disc that I can trust.
Before watching this, I've found the best for me. For this type of battle, the most overstable doesn't win. The one the glides usually does. The Cap Rap and the Draco are the best for me with the super strong fade. I don't do content, but did my own tests. Cap Rap most overstable, Draco has best glide and overstable combo. I noticed your stamped firebird had great distance and glide, others have used it in their vids. They van stamp is moving around!
Can confirm that fireball is beef. Can also confirm it's not even close to splice beef. As someone who bags both the splice not a disc that flies while the fireball is a super reliable overstable fairway
I use raptors but I’ve had them long enough to beat them in and get nice controlled flights out of. I personally like the idea of getting a fireball simply because it’s so stable and beat it in over time and filter it in and replace one of my raptors.
Ohhh boy Anthony. Wait til you have some mean wind or play in lower elevation. Your gonna wish that Fireball was in the bag. Go down in weight if you want it to fly a little straighter before a consistent hard fade, like a 168g Fireball. And guess what.....they'll all be flat and feel the same. Unless your only playing tourneys in CO, I don't think you account for how elevation changes the flight. Something to think about. #ThrowGYRO
I threw every overstable 9 speed I could get my hands on, until I came across my Felon. No other 9 speed does for me what my Felon does. It could just be my throwing style but my Felon is money, always. But I throw my Felons almost exclusively on forehand. I have them in basically every combo and the Sockibomb Felons are so damn good. The only drawback, is that the Felon will skip off on you if you aren't careful. I try not to throw it around water. lol
Haven’t even watched yet but fireball is obviously the best. Reliably fades, slim profile perfect for FH. And is consistent every run. I’m also I have a felon and unless you get a lucid X one it just beats in to straight so quick
Didn't you have an FX-2 laying around? Did you get that to turn? It's in my slot for this shot. My speed is slower ofc so prob. why it suits me better. Got a Fortress as well for more distance but late stability, won't flex back as much. Did you ever get to throw a =K= Rask in the woods? ;)
...and now I have a fuzion Felon instead, also got a nice Star Thundie that needs to get beat which for my arm fills the same slot often just no anny angle ;)
Will you be deciding between different molds of whichever disc makes the bag? (Tour series, limited edition player runs, tournament edition like LVC, OTB, Ledgestone)
I don't quite get the one-mold ideology the way you described it. If you have two Firebirds that came out of the box wildly different, the profiles on those discs will be wildly different as well, because that's what determines the flight of a disc. I'd say having two different MVP models that share the core mold would be much closer in hand feel than some Innova misfire discs. Apart from a placebo effect, I don't think there should be any reason why you couldn't pick up a Proton Tesla as a straighter-flying complement to the Fireball. Or a Convict to go with your Felon. It's a different thing when you beat a disc in yourself and get used to the gradual changes in the disc.
Luckily there are other plastics of the fireball! ... All more overstable than the proton :_D I love it but a neutron wrath would be a better comparison to the other 9 speeds you are trying.
Why do people keep comparing the Raptor to a Firebird, It's not even close. If you want a discraft disc that is like the other molds, that would be a Predator.
My arm speed is so slow that an incredibly understable disc flies the way these are supposed to fly for me. I don't think I could throw an overstable driver more than 150ft
Used to be a firebird guy. I have tons of them. I got a big z raptor and esp cap rap and they kicked out all of my firebirds. Raptors have more push and seem to firebird better than a firebird and I love them backhand and forehand as well.
Millenium Draco is my favorite version of the Firebird so far as well as the Sexton. But these discs don't have more glide than you were expecting you were just putting them on flex lines pretty much the whole time which obviously make the overstable discs "glide" more. Throw these discs flat and they have the glide that the flight numbers mention.
I've heard the draco is great! But yes, these discs def did have more glide than what I'd expect of the numbers, they held the turn more than I'd expect bc of the glide. It's just bc they had dome where the fireball didn't. Flex lines don't make discs glide more, but it can make them fly farther, glide makes discs hold lines more. Similarly, thrown flat, they go farther than you'd expect because of the dome that creates glide, flatter versions would def be accurate to the numbers tho. Raptor I think is right tho
@@TheBeefBurglar S9 G5 T0 F2.5 so yeah. They already have the Felon, Sockibomb Felon, Fortress, Ahti, Northman, Culverin, Pioneer in different plastics at Triology, this is a somewhat new slot with the Grand-plastic. Seems to replace a lot of discs if you prefer the plastic ;)
Fireball is my go to. Was money in the wind today and parked a few holes with it today. It is what I wanted my Firebird to be.
The Proton Fireball is one of my favorites in the bag. For certain shots, it really gets the job done.

@@hiddenleaf414i can respect that they do that, i like the flat tops in the hand.
How is fd3 not in this comparison?
Really liking the Mint Alpha for this slot, had a Fireball but it was just too much for me.
How does your arm not fall off you play everyday, i could barely throw 3 times a week
The benefits of being, young, athletic and short 😏
@@mmdoof How young is Bodanza?
I’m 28, only 5’6 but my arm feels toasted after 2 rounds. Sometimes even 1 if I’m forearming more.

This is the disc comparison I've needed! I just bought a raptor and don't know yet if it's what I'm looking for!
The Halo Firebird has been great for me. Definitely consider it if you find yourself enjoying Halo Wraiths or Halo Destroyers.
Great content. I have all 4 and fireball is def my most os.
As some one who’s thrown all of these to varying success.. I’d also recommend the FD3. All are great tho
Felon is my fave but they are all in a fun slot to throw
There are some domey Firebirds out there right now. Definitely more glide and a little straighter
Should've put a Millenium Draco with that lineup!!
Streamline Flare by far!
Fireball is just a level above the others in stability. You should also try a Neutron Terra in that slot, more closer to the others in stability.

Omen aura, or i chuck undertaker on slight hyzer to stable out --1.
Really depends what u want for the slot though. My very overstable discs, I rather want to crash down, instead of carrying to the left

How about a blade V2 from Gateway?!
the raptor is the one for me in that slot. I like the feel and is so trusting

Try out the Wrath if you want a less stable Fireball. It's the best forehand disc ever made.
What about the prodigy FX-2?
Axiom/MVP is good at making every weight though. My 162g fireball gets some glide but don't turn like my 172g star firebird
Ohh really. Your going to throw a 162 in some wind? Man up and throw some real plastic.
