This was exactly what I was looking for, thank you so much for explaining it clearly with actual examples.

You sound like Terrance McKenna with a bit of Bob Ross calming vibes :b Nice. Great review btw, this is exactly what I was looking for.

Thanks for this. Just used it to shoot color charts. Makes grading/color balance easier for the eventual shoot.

Really great video. Your explanation is perfect. I was just wondering about this, as I have the BMPCC4K. Time to go amd experiment.

I'll be doing more with editing raw photos in Davinci, so stay tuned. Thank you for the comment!

Hi! You don’t have to press hard. Actually the camera takes the shot when you release the button. So you don’t have to press hard or anything , use your finger normally and take the picture on release. Cheers!

Actually made a video on that very statement. This is not true with my BMPCC4K. It absolutely requires a hard press to take the photo.

Great Video! I have been wondering how well the BMPCC4K does with stills. I switched from Premiere Pro to Resolve for editing weddings a couple years ago. Premiere was always crashing and I didn't love the layout very much. Once I switched to Resolve I have not used anything else for my main editor/color. I still go back to Premiere for a couple little things that Resolve doesn't have or do as well yet but usually just for a clip or two then send back to Resolve and add it to my main edit. I have been kind of wanting to switch to the BMPCC4K or 6K for video but have not made the leap yet. They are doing some great work :)

Indeed they are. I used to use Final Cut Pro for all my editing, with some effects work done in AE. But now I use Resolve for 99.99% of my editing and effects. FCP just hasn't kept up with the game, and a lot of the OFX plugins for Resolve have me using AE even less.

Thanks for the info about how to change the quality of the still. Crazy but I did not think of going to q0 to make the image higher quality. 👍

Happy to help. Yeah, Q0 just gives you so much more room for grading.

I'm not sure if there has been an update on the camera, but even when the recording settings are set to ProRes HD 1920x1080, the camera will still take a DNG that is 3840x2160 in resolution.

When you taking photos can it be heard or reviewed after you take the shot

    • @mingeffect

Photos cannot be reviewed after taking them, which means you might want to plan on taking more that that "one" special shot. I have to imagine that at some point in the future, they will include that option in software.

very nice review - it is just ridiculous though that one can't view the image in the camera after taking it...

Thank you. I agree. I have a feeling that's something we might see in a future software update. Yes, it would certainly help us fine-tune our filming. Quite happy with Blackmagic in general, though. They really listen to their customers. I haven't checked their forums on this subject yet, but I imagine someone has suggested this feature add-on.
