That Mrs involvod is a keeper!
At least it will live on in parts for other cars, always a win to keep Volvos on the road.
I had a 1992 (last year) 740 turbo wagon for about 8 years as my daily driver in the 2000-2010s.... it had 170K miles when I got it, and 270K when I sold it. awesome car, very underrated.
Glad to see you are helping keep other Volvo’s rolling.
The self tapping screws was just the perfect finishing touch on your top notch floor repair 😂🤣😂👍🤗🤗
Amazed to see the floorplan like that when the rest of the car looks like it does!
Yes, that surprised me, as well.
Nice harvest, Sledge. The floor panels are a good bonus 😀💪🏻
That's a great way of putting it, a harvest!
One of the most valuable things I usually keep when I strip an interior is jar of all the fasteners. Inevitably when you're reassembling one drops into the abyss, which is when that spares jar comes into its own. I'm surprised that it didn't give you more of a fight coming apart given how rusty it was.
Haha yeah definitely!
Nice to have a strong lady at hand when mowing the car. Superwoman!
"You any good at lifting out gearboxes mate?"
"NOOOOOOO!!"
Like how you blurred the merc !! 🤣
That’s the right decision here
It was too far gone but you've saved as much as you could from it. It has saved you money and you got a few Euros back selling some of the parts.
the panel under the windshield were the wipers attach is a known rustspot! so if that is rustfree its worth saving :)
Erik in Sweden
Yes it's sad to see but keeps the others on the road
Well and truly cannibalised. Most impressed with Mrs Involvo'd taking charge of the reversing issue. Whit a wumin. 👍
Still a Miss, she's not a Mrs. yet! Soon...
Good decision and Job to rip it apart. It's sad that it was not worth to rescue it, but the parts will give other Volvos a chance to survive. I also love the idea to cut out the usual vulnerable steel parts of this model for re-use in other cars. So it will be almost a full recycling of the car. 👌🏼
I ripped off three 945 before, but not that accurate as you plan to do, due to time, experience and possibilities
And I also was very happy to find money, that decreased the money for the car 😂
Take care!
It is a pity to see a car parted out but there wasn't much you could do with this one. It does sadden me though when perfectly good cars get parted out by owners who won't sell them whole. Happens a lot here in Australia - the land that rust forgot. Also. I think you need a Toyota Tercel 4wd Wagon project.
Agreed, such a shame to see good examples getting parted out. Would love a Tercel, I had a few old Toyotas in the past, they're awesome. You must be familiar with Bearded Wrencher here on UA-cam?
Nice with the floor pans! 299 was a steal 😁
Cheers! 👍
Whatever you do Sledge please don't use the floor pans from this 740 to redo the floor pans in Elsa properly. If you do that then I'll be the only 740 owner in the world with glued-in floor pans because I'm about to replace my passenger-side front floor pan following your design (?) and method. And I don't want to be the only one! lol
Haha! Hope it goes well! Sikaflex do a really good panel bond 👍
Made me laugh the Merc Tow car pixelated out, great to see Mrs Involvo’d getting stuck in.
Glad you enjoyed it!
It would be great if you had a car lift, 🤠👍
I hope you were able to save the clutch and brake pedal assembly. The hydraulic clutches / lines / master+slave cylinders are rare and desirable.
That's good to know, thanks!
Yay, a Flexiny fan as well! And Whiteland Restorations??
Yeah man!! 😀
😃 Great vid dude, That lump is protected by powerful spirits 😉if it's the one i was using in 83/84 .
Definitely 😀
I definitely think you did the best thing in this situation. It is sad yes but the yield of stuff to keep others going is the best thing indeed. Interior trim is hard to get hold of too so worth it. I had a 2001 Mondeo Mk3 which had nearly 300k on the clock. No-one wanted it as a whole car so I stripped it on the drive and sold pretty much everything and made 3 times as much in parts as I was asking for the whole car lol. Great video as always fella
Thanks man, it's amazing how much a car is worth when you add up every little part!
take those fucked callipers and sent these instead of halfway safable when you buy new ones. Partsshops normally want the old ones and require you to pay a deposit.
Good point! Thanks 👍
You lucky man to have a donor car to strip for odds and sods for yourself and to help finance the upkeep of your own car's is excellent it's hard to see any classic car be striped out but if it saves another one and keep it on the road needs must great work well done ✅ also to have a place to work in is a bonus 👍
Thanks 🙂
I've done heater core to 940 and 960. It is a full day job and do not require to take dash out. I don't think 740 is that different.
It is like 240 where car is built a round of heater core or windscreen wiper linkage.
Gosh, I'm first! Well done Miss Involvo'd. You got most of your 300 back. It's sad but the end justifies the means.
👍👊
Lambdasond badge please?😀👍
The ends of the clip broke instantly on removal but the badge itself is still ok, want me to send you some pics?
Yes sure. If you want. Maby i can fix it👍👍
@@d.jbrickmocs1637 can you send me an email involvod@gmail.com and I'll send you a pic 👍
To bad the driver door is so damn rusted and it is the wrong fenders. I have a red 945 that would have needed that. If it was good I would of course have paid for it
It is a shame, I think the only panels worth saving are the tailgate and scuttle!
@@Involvod Really is. Red parts are hard to find. By the way, if you ever are up in Volvo land (Sweden) let me know and I'll show you the best scrap yard there is. In the middle of nowhere with lots of old Volvos and you pull the parts yourself for a cheap price. I bought nice leather seats for a Volvo there for like 80 euro.
@@richardandreasson6744 that would be awesome!! Thanks 🙂
Not sure if the trim clips will fit a 1988 240 but if so I'd be very interested cant find them anywhere and all of mine have snapped :( also if it has girling brake pads for vented discs that you arent holding onto give me a shout mate many thanks
I'm pretty sure they are all different clips, but which ones did you need?
@Involvod not entirely sure what clips but its for a 1988 240 Gl saloon model, for the exterior trim under the windows and back next to the rear lights
Do you still have the front end rear seats? What would you like for it?
Sadly not, they sold pretty quick! Even before this video
Organ donor ❤
Hello there! Do you have the rear lights for this beauty?
And the trim under the right front headlight, i would like to make an offer
Do you have the original stereo? Might be interested:)
Sadly not 😏
@@Involvod got it, slowly completing my 940 Turbo USDM... thanks.
