Link's hookshot from the Legend of Zelda is one of the coolest items in all of gaming. Who WOULDN'T want to fire a grappling hook at any object and instantly get reeled back in. It's AWESOME and is definitely my favorite item from any video game ever. But is it really as awesome as we all think? Is the hookshot in Link's pack of items truly the deadliest thing in the whole Legend of Zelda franchise?

human bean The Ocarina of Time is actually used much more for traveling through time in Majora’s Mask than it is in Ocarina of Time, lol.
Actually, it's for 1 game, because it plays a major role in oot. But in Mm, it's only used for songs, and rewinding time.
It's interesting to think that botw is the only Zelda game in like 25+ years to not have the Hookshot or anything like it in the game. It's one of those items that seems like it would have fit into the climbing aesthetic really well too.
It wouldvd broken a lot of shrines tbh
I’m sure it’ll be in the sequel!
@@a_person4742 not necessarily: shrines are basically the only places where Link can't climb any walls, so it wouldn't be a leap to make the hookshot unable to latch onto anything in them as well
@@a_person4742 From watching speedruns of botw, hookshots are the least of our concern

All this, and we haven't even considered what happens when Link smashes into that wall at the end HEAD FIRST.
or dips onto some rough ground while being pulled at incredible speed. maybe thats why mentor link in twilight princess didn't have skin?
+notbobby125 thats the part where the theory falls apart: link is more duable than a human. dont forget he can jump from extreme high platforms and it doesnt kill him, he loses just life energie. i miss that point for this theory because its a critical poiunt to aknowledge.

I can only imagine how many pointless angry "IT'S JUST A GAME" and "IT'S FANTASY" comments you must be getting... Whenever I talk about video game weapons and their practicality (or lack thereof) in real life there is plenty of that.
But analyzing games like that is just hilarious. It has entertainment value, just like games and fantasy in general. Great video!
Skala!
Finally, something as ludicrous as Cloud's sword!
yeah i know, but some games are suppose to be based on our world's physics, like batman. Maybe its possible in there since we can actually calculate mass and height properly instead of converting pixels into them. Thats always one of my favorite parts of game theory but it leaves you with ridiculous proportions. Just look at wario lol xD

I was just thinking towards the end of the video how it reminded me of some of your own takes on fantasy weapon and tool designs, Skall. I just wanna say that I appreciate what both you and Game Theory bring to the table. Thank you both for all the work you put into your videos.
2 things I'd like to bring up for the validity of Link being able to use the Long Shot from Ocarina of Time
1) Link has super human strength, being able to push an over 9 ton block of stone. For instance, the stone blocks in the Fire Temple are approximately double the size of Link. with a cubic meter of generic stone weighing in at a whopping 2,515kg, we determine that the block would weigh around 8551kg, which is over 18,800lbs. Being able to exert that much force requires tremendous strain on muscles, ligaments, and tendons, yet Link is able to move them with a few grunts, without the use of the Silver or Gold Gauntlets
2) What if the material of the Long Shot was made by a different metal than a steel alloy? Scandium and Beryllium are similar to steal with hardness and tinsel strength, but are much less dense. If we assumed the Long Shot was made with Scandium, the tool would weigh about 64lbs. If it was made out of Beryllium, it would weigh approximately 40lbs. With these weights, it would be more in the realm of possibility for the Long Shot to be able to function without permanently damaging the user
I like to imagine the hookshot and it's variations are similar to a slinky but made out of a very resistant mythical metal, so instead of being ruined like a slinky that's bent out of shape it retracts back similar to a measuring tape, so after the hook piece gets stuck in a wall it pulls the user to it, since there isn't enough force to itself out of the wall and the metal can't bend to relieve the tension that's been created, though I have no idea how or what initially launched the hook out, maybe a magic gun powder? 😂😂😂
And the recoil may be different as it appears to be a coil in/around the barrel and that design style may be a choice to lessen the recoil from firing.
And the chain doesn't have to be made of 100 percent steel, it can be mixed with other lighter materials like plastic, am i right?
Well how about THIS MatPat? What kind of damage is inflicted in Smash Bros. when Link uses the Hookshot to reel people in?! Not ONLY are they being dragged towards Link with great force, but the hookshot is ALSO piercing their armor/skin.

And link still hits his Head on the wall......
and doesnt get brain-damage or a concussion lmao.
And keeps his hat on
And his hair still looks perfectly normal and on fleek.
that will not only shatter his skull totally from the top to the lower Neck followed by spinal regions
ie. Most of his upper body but also squish his brain into strawberry juice with a lot of ketchup
Come on guys, he's a cartoon character
Thing is "average human being" probably couldn't take a behemoth strike from some of the forces Link can .
Why not use his "hearts" to judge just how much trauma Link's body can take. For instance, he can be struck with a sword 40 times straight on before he perishes. That should say a lot about how much his body can actually take. The durability of his body and the amount of force it can take is probably one of the reasons he could use something like this.
the impact of a sword's blade striking isn't all that impressive to be honest. it will barely dent platemail on the thinner spots. now a hammer on the other hand (or any other top heavy weapon) would be much more impressive on the impact force. you can generate more impact with a top-thick wooden club (not some stick you try to pass as a club) than you can with a sword but then again link doesn't wear much in terms of armor so the slashing is what he should focus on more
Rafael Dracofuchs considering he also fights giants and mythical beings which I'm sure pack a wallop(such as something giant). Not to forget being hit by lazers and fire balls and mini explosions too. That's some trauma.
It would basically take around 40 explosions to his face to take out all his hearts. THAT is some durability.
yeah i know...i've played the game before but swords were just a bad example :P
We already have a measure of how Link's body reacts to large accelerations in the form of fall damage. We could use height of the fall to calculate velocity when hitting the ground, and use the amount of hearts to measure how much he's hurt from different levels of acceleration.
OP is very much correct. Either way the "theory" is wrong.
Either the "REAL" theory is "How strong IS Link as the Legendary Hero ?"
Or the question of "How then does the Hookshot work given the lack of all this?"
To say delving into thoery/history/legacy as to what enchantments would have gone into making it so as to why it has no apparent recoil to speak of (like a rocket RPG)
And is by all appearence gravity wish weightless despite carrying full momentum.
Looking back on old videos and seeing Ronnie's editing really hits you in the gut, doesn't it?
AHAH, BUT ONE THING YOU DIDNT FACTOR IN HERE...
You didnt factor in that being moved so fast in so short of a time, his body would still be accelerated at that speed so he wouldnt just stop he would slam insanely hard into the wall and probably break nearly all his bones
he would be injured EVEN WORSE than you said xD
He would decelerate so fast... From 45 mph to 0 in a fraction of a second. Link would die, hard. The bones would break, including shoulder and most likely ribcage, and the fragments would lodge in his organs. Like MatPat said, "No amount of Red Potion is going to fix that!"
He would be a sac of shattered bones and organs if he did not burst on impact.

I like both types of theiories
wow pokemon guy
Also, Link would rocket into the object with no possible way of stopping. His body will hit the surface so hard it will deliver the blow to finish Link.
Except, he doesn't keep his momentum upon reaching the target, he just stops. Which begs the question, what forces are exacted upon his body then? Not only is his body being accelerated from 0-45 mph in a fraction of a second, he is then immediately stopping from 45-0. I expect this would produce similar results as when he is pulled, further damaging his spine and internal organs.
Argetbrisingr101 In addition it would require some kind of full-body suit, as he in no way possible can absorb the amount of energy required to stop his momentum through his now broken, pulled and dislocated wrist and shoulder... And that would further increase his mass...
Exactly. I was thinking that the whole time, and thought it was weird that Mat never mentioned that at all.
I was thinking this too . He's flying 45mph , headfirst , into a wall, tree etc ... He dead lol
Oops. i just said the same exact thing
Bro, what if hylians have different muscles or bone mass than us humans? Something to do a video about
i was just about to rant about that
True, doesn't really help the internal damage from g-forces though
Revampedharpy09 what if he evolved to survive it or has different structures or has denser bones or body
Hope mat pat sees this
B u f f h y l i a n
Well in botw link cant carry rrl heavy things can he
You forgot the sudden deceleration. When Link reaches his destination, there is no visible inertia. That means that the rest of his body now slams forward less than a second after a backwards slam of equal force. I'm no genius, and I am armed only with basic physics knowledge and my logic (no maths), but this would probably do most of these things to him: Send his eyes flying out of their sockets, make him lose bowel , urinary and stomach control, making him pee, poo, and toss his cookies simultaneously, possibly send his organs flying through his rib cage, getting cut up into slices in the process, destroy every fragile little bone in both his ears, slam his brain into his skull for the second time, shatter every bone in his legs and maybe his hips too, and let's not even talk about the internal hemorrhaging.
+Scott Coulson Oh yes, and more of those G forces.
That's what I was thinking too, except maybe not in so much gross detail. If he's travelling at 20m/s then that's like 72km/hr so when he reaches his destination he's basically slamming into a brick wall practically head first at 72 km/hr. That's got to do as much if not more damage than everything else mentioned in his video.
Myfanwy Schenk How about this: He would basically melt. If you saw through his skin, he would make an MK X Fatality look weak.
+Scott Coulson It'd be like a car crash at 45 miles per hour.
+Scott Coulson jusus crust
Came for the theory, stayed for the physics class

Well, Link's arms are probably fine. He has the goron's bracelet by the time you get the water temple, so his arms can withstand a far greater force.
For the rest of it, it may be that the bracelet acts as a damper, reducing the overall force exerted on his body. Also, let's not forget that Link is chilling with a Fairy. A species which in the LoZ universe can resurrect someone from death, or as close as to make little difference. It may be a different variety, as Navi never actually saves you (something I've wondered about... maybe because she would have to sacrifice herself and thus could no longer act as Link's guide) but she's in all likelihood got access to some sort of magic, e.g. being able to detect enemies' weak spots. Even more so as by the time he acquires the hookshot, he has the Triforce of Courage. This is not a standard Hylian boy we're dealing with.
In fact, it isn't anyway. This is a boy who can run for days carrying a sackful of, as was established in the video, items that are far heavier then him, even climbing with this shit. Even as a child, in the range of what, 5-10? Not super important, but he was able to wield swords and shields able to best the minions of Ganondorf, or just evil in general, who were at least sufficiently powerful that the most powerful warriors of the various castes you meet (Goron, Kokiri, Zora) cant shift it. And the Gorons at least seem a capable bunch.
This doesn't invalidate anything said in the video, it's just that clearly Link IS able to wield the hookshot consistently, and accomplish other superhuman feats. Maybe being the hero of time has some unexpected benefits? For that matter, what happened to him while he was in the Temple of Time for 10 years (or so, I don't remember.) Before this, you accomplished extraordinary feats, like defeating the various dungeon bosses, but the items you get are fairly mundane, such as a slingshot and deku nuts. Then after, the real crazy shit starts to come out, lugging around over 20 bombs with no clear means of storage. Could this be a result of the power of the Temple of Time? It's clearly not just time travel or he'd still be Young Link. Is it the Triforce of Courage? Could it maybe be like Majora's Mask, all in Link's head? I have my own prefered solution, which is that Ganondorf remade the world in his image, using the power, at least of the Triforce of Power. While not up to it's full potential, he would conceivably have some influence over the nature of the world. Clearly, as a man constrained by physical laws, his power was limited, but the Triforce of Power allowed him to... bend that a little. This, as the triforce can remake the WORLD in the image of the user, not the user themselves, would mean that anyone with sufficient will could maybe accomplish similar feats.
I may be talking out of my ass, but remember where this comment is. And here, we give proper considerations to people's opinions, even if it is just a theory.

Assuming Link managed to Keep hold of the Hookshot (also assuming he's as squishy as MatPat would Imply) You have to wonder, Flying at a stone wall at 20 m/s, How much damage does Link sustain from Slamming into said stone wall?
Slightly less than being transformed into a wolf or painting and set on fire by a dragon.
Good points. My thing is Link has the Golden Gaunlets, which gives him super strength all over his body as you can see him picking up granite blocks several times his height. Strength in muscle mass means strength in durability, making Matt claims inaccurate at some points. He's super durable, I mean he can survive high falls and bombs in his face
Yeah, he can do that at 4 Hearts and before the boosts from the Golden and Silver Gauntlets, he can already pick up run with and even swing the Megaton Hammer as Adult Link without either Strength boosting item, and it's solid steel.
Pretty much anything applied to Adult Link on OoT can be applied to his child form in both OoT and Majora's Mask as they are exactly the same person, though the physical strength may take a few years to come fully online.
What's probably missing from this video in the intelligence part, is how in some games, Link is able to use some items during combat to completely destroy otherwise challenging enemies almost instantly.
Minish Cap is a big example, as that game's Link is able to use items to exploit enemy weaknesses, so much that Gibdo become Stalfos and 2D Stalfos are pathetic compared to 2D Gibdo. Link is an expert tactician able to exploit his enemies' weaknesses, this is most easily recognized when combat becomes a puzzle rather than simply waiting for obvious weak point to show and hammering away at it.
Threadnaught Link is always accompany by a partner: OoT: Navi, Wind Waker: King of Red Lions, Twilight: Midna, Skyward: Fi, etc. They are can contribute to his intelligent department like you mentioned. They are like Jarvis to Iron Man, or Oracle to Batman.
One thing to that I forgot to mentioned that you slightly covered. Child Link can't use the hookshot, maybe he lacks the strength?
DJ Moon Knight He can In Majora's Mask.
Well, it's a good thing Link is part of the magical race known as the Hylians, plus the extra power boost from being the bearer of the Triforce of Courage helps and most likely, the Hookshot and the Longshot would be made of one of the 3 Pure Metals (Crimsonine, Azurine and Aquanine) found in the Zelda universe, which when combined forge the Phantom Sword, a greatsword so light that even our Tiny Toon hero can wield it with 1 hand. The sword is literally the length of Link's body, with a very thick blade. So, with the combination of a magical body, Triforce powers and extra-light and uber-hard, yet not easily shattered metals, we should get a much better result.
The metals used are also not common, which might be the reason why not a single adept mage is using the Hookshot or Longshot.
Not only that, but the blade of the Phantom Sword is the same color as the hook shot hook and chain, which are heaviest parts according to the video. That would make sense I suppose, also adding that there are only two spring loaded weapons like this in the OoT
Robert Reynolds Plus, the Hookshot is without a doubt a magical weapon. There is no way a spring that can fit in that tube can launch a hook that far and pull you there. It's either some complicated technology or magic.
I agree that there is magic to it, but Dampe literally refers to it a spring loaded. So maybe some special enchanted spring? haha, the possibilities are endless
Robert Reynolds A normal spring wouldn't launch a hook and chain that far.
thats why I said enchanted :b
As a physics major I enjoy your mathy episodes. But you've neglected one thing, that being inertia. An object in motion will stay in motion unless a force is acted upon it. How exactly is the hero of time suppose to slow to a halt as he is soaring to his destination? In all likelyhood when the long shot completely retracts, Link's body would remain in motion causing him to overshoot his target and lose grip of the long shot. I doubt he would be able to slow himself down from 20 m/s with a broken arm/wrist. Link's target would have to be directly above him so gravity could bring him to rest after traveling a vertical hight of 20.4 meters(I did the math). Anything other than 90 degrees(directly above him), Link will fly by the target in the horizontal direction or crash into a wall. lol
you see I have been boming the comments with this because he forgot that factor of him stopping so quickly
This was something I thought of as well - having been moving at 20g's towards a solid object he would be obliterated by the impact. Dead. End of story. His internal organs would be crushed inside his body as it flattened against whatever object pulled him. XD
It would still be useful as a kamikaze tackle attack against an enemy that the hookshot impales.
Magic
Slight correction; I gave it some more thought when I went to bed last night. Gravity would only slow him down if the force of the longshot varies while retracting. After grabbing my 3ds and inserting ocarina, I noticed that the force is constant until the long shot completely retracts no matter the direction. This fact means he would continue moving 20m/s, no matter the direction, after the longshot recoils. It can be resulted that even if link attaches it to a platform directly above him, he would actually launch himself 20.4 additional meters in the verical! (assuming he loses grip) remember this is when gravity is completely working against his motion. Any other direction would be a lot more devestating
Imagine Gannondorf placing a longshot in a chest, see link open the chest and be like “yes. Grab it you filthy green man!”
Casual racism is the cherry on top of the sundae.
Also, considering Ganon is the actual green man here, your comment confused me for a second and I had to read it again.

Ok, but bear with me for a second (pun intended, it’ll make sense soon, I hope)
If one considers that Hyrule is a place that exists/existed/will existo n Earth, then one should also assume that each day/night cycle should last 24 hours, right?
However, according to Zelda’s Wiki, each day on Ocarina of Time (OoT) lasts ~2,5 Real Life minutes (I’ll call them RL, for short), and each night lasts ~1,3 RL minutes. So, we could say that each OoT Hour during the Day lasts something around 12 RL Seconds, and each OoT Hour during the Night lasts about 6 RL Seconds
In that case, after some magical rule of three math, one could conclude that ONE RL Second represents 300 OoT DAY Seconds and 600 OoT NIGHT Seconds.
Now things start to get weird/interesting.
Let’s talk about Day Time only, for now. The Longshot travels roughly at 20m/RL Second, which we now know represents around 300 OoT Seconds. Being so, the Longshot is, in fact, traveling 20 Meters in 300 OoT Seconds, not in 1 Second - in one OoT second, it travels only 0,03 Meters and thus its acceleration equals 0,03 m/(s^2). Throwing all of this in F = m X a, we now have F = 86kg (already brilliantly calculated by The Game Theorists) X 0,03 m/(s^2): Longshot’s Force applied over Link while it’s being fired is only around 2,58 Newtons during the day (even less during the night: 1,29 N).
I’m pretty sure I’m ignoring a lot of important things here, but still, moving on.
With all that said, one could finally infer a few things:
1) Link could, theoretically, fire the Longshot (and be pulled by it) without having his bones and internal organs crushed
2) Link is, in fact, an EXTREMELY slow hero and the whole game had to be accelerated so that we wouldn’t die before being able to finish it
3) Link's so clumsy that he goes even slower at night so that he won't accidently trip on something while running.
4) I believe that if one would also calculate the actual force applied by Link when he swings his sword, one would also find out that, actually, every enemy in Hyrule is really really weak/breakable and/or that Link’s weapons are actually made of some crazy powerful stuff
5) All of this without even mentioning that there are some places in Hyrule where time stops, and that's creepy and I won't test my really weak math skills in that territory
dammm
Okay, this comment is amazing and should have many more likes than it does. Clap and a half to you. You have discovered Legend of Zelda's big secret. :P :) :D
Though at the same time... the actual regular citizens of Hyrule move even slower than Link does. How would that apply this this formula? haha.
Henrique Gus Well done, my dude.
I like this, but one point to consider: depending on your latitude and the season, day and night are not necessarily the same length. if link is at the right latitude and it is summer in his hemisphere, there would be no change in the time dilation of day vs night.
Henrique Gus
Um it's a game. Like of course he can do things most people can't do in reality. But still great paragraph though.
would he not... hit his face on the wall?
Its so satisfying and wholesome to see how much game theory has evolved and where it started. Also MatPat in his twenties had some interesting sense of humour
So hook shot is more of a suicide weapon than an actual weapon

I feel bad everytime i use the Clawshot in Twilight Princess now...
Darth Xander FINALLY someone else who knows what the magi series is
Ska Ofemergency and here's another one (me)
Man magi is so good
Clawshot isn't as powerful. The claw is less mass than the hook/spear, and thechain isn't as long. Not to mention you could reason that the extra mass in between the handle and the claw is absorbing the launch force and exerting magic over Link's body to minimize the acceleration forces.
hey i know its named after me
what about the impact and deceleration?
im pretty sure link is dead
Hell, even the act of firing it at something too far away, causing it to violently reach the end of its spool and snap back, would be devastating to Link.
and also firing it under water will surely make it WORSE
Lazy Bear
Underwater, the increased fluid drag of the water slows down the launch of the projectile as well as lowers its top speed, making Link more likely to survive the forces.
i was going to comment that. cuz, if hes at 20 metres per second, the impact force should be enough to kill himm, plus the fact that centrifugal force on a bend might cause him to actually impale himself on the metal HOOK! Also, where is all that chain comming from? all that helical cartridge isnt enough to hold all that!

Toats they aren't wrong dude.
bowser jr yes the science is all right..
but the basic fact that he ignores the fact that steel is heavier than iron despite mocking the iron boots is one thing. but loz is in a place that has magic and magic items. there is no amount of science that can explain the master sword. and link is an hylian not human.
Toats elf hylian bla bla bla hes just a human with pointy ears same thing
bowser jr a human that has been chosen to be the hero by the gods that has magic abilities gained by great fairies. because all humans have that privlage.
"How is this guy possibly keeping this massive thing in his pants?"
That sounded so wrong
*-oh yes 😏-*
*-Zelda Logic-*
That's nasty
There is no pants? We’re does he keep it?
It's obvious, don't you see it? Link drinks a lot of milk.
Lol
Obv.
brother?
It's funny because according to some sources, cows milk is actually bad for human bones, by drawing the calcium out of them, not replenishing.
Chateau Romani!!!
Saying F=ma in the fun way you do IS memorable as I used it to remember it for my exams. Nice jobert there MatPat
Can matpat just be my maths teacher already??
I've learnt more watching videos here then actually going to school.
Kitteny14 fr and the video "history of the entire world,I guess"
Kitteny14 me to
Kitteny14 fr
Are you sure your grammar is pretty bad
Kelbell KDS *Are you sure? Your grammar's pretty bad.
Maybe Nintendo didn’t add one in legend of Zelda breath of the wild because they saw this video
Or it could be a timeline thing. Or the Hookshot was just phased out at some point. After all, BotW Link did just wake up from a 100-year nap.
Justin Kim that's funny lol 😂
Dr. Rank boy you must be fun at parties
they substituted with the hang glider and the giant towers
No, they did not add noe because (1) they ran out of buttons to link permanant abilities to, and (2) that means it wouldn,t be permenant. i can see that going very badly.
You missed something... There's all that acceleration, great, but what about when Link gets to the other side of the pit? He still has to make a very sudden and abrupt STOP. I'm surprised you didn't discuss that.
McBehrer Agreed, I was waiting for that as well.. sadly, he didn't cover it :(
***** And probably get some brain damage as well :)
What about vertical acceleration accounting for gravity? That's like 9.80665 (action vs. reaction of countering gravity) + 200.
I think he thought that the video was getting too long and that people might lose intrest
Ooh! ANother thing, the metal might be encased in steel...but...mostly something lighter?
"F=ma isn't memorable"
I literally used his way of saying it to remember it for a year (I haven't watched this video in so long ik)
Same.. It's super memorable!!
I use it to remember solely out of spite
Same, and newton's third law. We did it in physics and I vlew up with excitement
Same coming here after a year or more
Oh dear, Game Theory, you didn't pay attention in physics class this time. A couple observations:
-The force exerted by the chain upon Link's arm would vary with what mass per unit length (excluding the "head" or "grip" or whatever) was, at the time, being extended. The force, therefore, is non-constant; and is applied to Link's arm over the course of the extension of the Hookshot, considering that the velocity at which the chain is shot is somewhat constant. (Let me tell you now, you need calculus to derive an equation for the force exerted over time. Although you're probably aware that it would be a differential parametric equation.)
-Even if you disregarded that, and approximated the overall force that Link would need to exert, it still wouldn't break his arm. Why? Well, because of a funny little thing called impulse. The force of 12000 Newtons required to break a human hand is a calculation based off of an arbitrary, but extremely small, distance (and time) over which the force is exerted. However, the TOTAL (estimatory) force of ~17000 N that Link must counteract to remain still would be over the course of, as you said, an entire second. When one thinks of breaking a hand, it's something like a fall, or getting hit by a baseball bat. And although there is undoubtedly a threshold of force which defines the ambiguous maximum force human bones can take, the deformation of a bone (which is, incidentally, a conversion of kinetic energy) would still depend, at least to an extent, on the impulse that would otherwise be the consequence of that force.
Obviously, these are just estimations, and I could very well still be wrong. I'm merely observing that something of a shoddy job was done this time around. Although good job calculating the volume of the hook; that must have been miserable.
Too lazy to read your entire comment so I'll just say that I agree with you
^
Thanks for taking the time to write this. It was insightful to say the least.
***** The point is that the impulse of firing should only be applied to the hook itself. While the chain is subject to a much longer application of force over the 1sec duration of it being extended.
This isn't a regular harpoon where all the impulse is fired at the beginning. If it were like this, the speed would decrease as the chain was pulled out. But with the Hookshot, everything is going at constant speed. Therefore, the chain must be continuously pushed out by the handle so as not to drag on the hook.
honestly, who says its even steel? there could be some unknown metal in zeldaverse for all anyone knows ..
I guess you could call this theory a
LONGSHOT
OMG, you are now my new best friend!
SAS gd aaayyyyy
Nah, that's every video of his.
if you going to insult me, at least have the decency to spell it right.
Might wanna leave Mat to the corny jokes but good one anyway.
Man matpat I learn more stuff from u then I do in school
Wait did he account for the stop of the grappling hook because I learned form his other video the stop of the momentum for 45 mph to zero would probably break his skull
@Nick Moore kill a person? even in his luckiest day kill him and squish most of his upper body leaving behind ruptured internals and shattered bones in a bag of skin,Thats the lucky day
link has super elf strength and durability, remember when he lifted the huge rectangular stone? so he should be ok using this thing.
Luis Fernando but he had the golden gauntlets when he did that.
true XD
Sanic the DANK meme yes, but his arms and legs did the lifting anyway or maybe is just fiction and nothing should make sense XD
Luis Fernando
true
He's also got the triforce of courage and whatever the crap that actually does to him. Not to mention the hookshot itself, being that it wasn't made specifically for link, likely has some sort of dampening system within it to assist in softening the recoil and yank caused by the hookshot itself.
25 reasons Link is not human:
1. He has the pocket capacity of a parking garage.
2. He is multi-incarnate (last I checked, I can't do that).
3. Link falls into pits or from incredible heights losing only up to one heart at best. In some games, he even falls down floors without taking any damage like A Link to the Past.
4. Link instantly knows how to play musical instruments or use weapons on picking them up without any prior experience.
5. Link is never affected by injuries, he could be at twenty hearts or one heart left but will still keep fighting normally.
6. He heaves a ball and chain in Twilight Princess. How does that not affect him anymore when he puts it away.
7. He can switch between his normal and iron boots on mind command because... magic!
8. Link can target five targets with his boomerang in Wind Waker and Twilight Princess. No physics explanation?
9. Link can lift granite with the Golden Gauntlets but he leans it towards him, but since he has it focused on lifting it up how is he preventing it from crushing him when the granite is towards his body directly?
10. He uses magic (the green bar). Definitely not a human trait.
11. Link can jump up to two to three times his height in Wind Waker and Twilight Princess jumping over enemies. Those are some leg muscles!
12. Link doesn't need sleep or isn't affected by it. He stays up for 72 straight hours in Majora's Mask.
13. Link can use Deku Sticks as his most powerful sword attack in Ocarina of Time as a kid like against Queen Gohma because... it brings out his inner child for more energy?
14. When Link pulls out bombs in Ocarina of Time what does he light them up with? He's got no fire items on him.
15. Pieces of heart and heart containers increase his health. Why rigorous training and regular combat experience doesn't do this is beyond me.
16. When Link shoots arrows, they fly in a straight line without gravity affecting it. That must be one strong bow for how much pressure Link is putting onto it! How strong is Link for him to do that?
17. Link has survived a crash into a castle in Wind Waker.
18. Link is yanked to the ceiling in Twilight Princess by magnetic boots. If it was able to pull him up, weight and everything from a distance on a platform, how much leg power is needed to put one foot in front of another with a magnetic force that strong?
19. I can understand Link pushing the big metallish blocks in Ocarina of Time, but he seems to dig his hands underneath them when he pulls it back? How in the world...
20. Link can use a shield so well in Ocarina of Time he can bounce back nuts from Deku Scrubs in the exact same trajectory and speed from where it was hit from.
21. Link CAN roll sideways in Twilight Princess and Wind Waker and uppercut with his sword in less than a second because... uhh...
22. He is incapable of getting sliced in half. This is evident from being sliced from Ganon's large, sharp weapons in Ocarina of Time and the axe from the Iron Knuckles in the Spirit Temple.
23. Pressure doesn't affect him underwater. Pressure can kill a human around 350 feet. Before you bring up the Zora Tunic, remember that Link can use Iron Boots with his Kokiri Tunic and still manage the feat.
24. Link has incredible manipulative powers through his eyes. He just stands in front of people and they tell him deep, confidential stuff. (This one is just a joke and subjective, but still... it is something).
25. And finally, the longshot.
Link is no human, he's an elf, that explains everything.
Collin Buckman It does make sense. Elves do wear green clothes all the time. :)
Slashstar314 And he is constantly refered to as an elf by MattPatt AND he has easy to notice elven pointy ears.
Oh, that number 1. Classic. Keeping spare clothes, shield, boots, sword (bigger than him even), bombs, bombchus, arrows, magic arrows, 4 bottles (bigger than his hand), longshot and instrument is pretty normal for people right?
Goobi Shloobi Actually, he's a Hylian, like Zelda and most of the other characters in most of the Zelda series. They explained it after you beat the Forest Temple in OoT.
Mat Pat you forgot that after Link uses the hook shot he just stops hitting the wall or log or some thing.
Sooo in other words YA DEAD SON!
Yikes imagine hitting the wall at that speed...
#speediskey
*FAIL*
_2fast4u_
Just gonna point this out, hylians tend to be more durable than would be considered possible for humans. Not only that but I imagine that the hookshot wouldn't be made of any KNOWN material. This is a land of magic and stuff. It's likely made of something super strong yet super light.
Eh?
Ah
Cynical Knight Samiel Like sayians
Cynical Knight Samiel Yeah... but still... we have to know what it is or it wouldn't be possible to actually do the math to figure it out... but it is a theory based on real life physics n stuff so... if we knew the in game material and how much it weighed/density and all that, then we... actually they, would use that to figure it out... (I refuse to be... actually if I was offered to be in these videos I might have taken it... but I wasn't, I'm too lazy to do that on my own, and yeah.)
Cynical Knight Samiel Carbon Fibre? xD
"The ocarina only appeared in one game"
Ocarina of time
Majora's mask.
I'm sure there's more but in too lazy to research them.
It was also in Link to the Past, but the game called it a "flute" for some reason.
i knew i wasnt the only one thinking that! (i am basically obsessed with LoZ though)
Literally about to say that!
Lol
It's in the legend of Zelda links awakening
Actually, he said that it was only IMPORTANT in one game. In MM you just kinda have it. It puts little emphasis on the Ocarina of Time in MM (and Link's Awakening)
While some people say we need school, I say all we need is UA-cam.
Me to
Same
+Moonpelt
Absolutely
But then game theory nor any other teacher UA-cam wouldn't exist.. you need schooling for these to exist.
Not exactly true. There is no reason for us to go to school when stuff like this can be taught via the internet. We are in a day and age where we shouldn't have to be in person with our instructors for subjects like math, English and and science
This is the first Game Theory video I ever watched, it felt really nostalgic going back
The problem with this whole theory is this is based on the assumption the material is made of steel. The longshot may either not be made of steel. It could an element or substance not on this Earth. Or it could have magic properties
That said, I love the efforts of how far you guys go with this in calculations and deep thinking.
Mithril exists in Hyrule right? Doesn't that solve everything? Woo Magic!
edit: Forgot about the 20g's part.
That is exactly what i was thinking!
No such thing as an element we can't theorize. Could be a material we haven't invented though. And magic is always an option.
Also, what if the hook shot is made out of titanium? Titanium is only 60% of the weight of steel and 45% the strength. It is very hard to rust, even in saltwater conditions.
Nathan Congdon Titanium shouldn't contain any iron in it, so technically it doesn't even rust. However, titanium does oxidize, but it the process would be so slow that Link would die of old age before the hookshot broke.
I'm never using the Hookshot again.
But you have to lol
but what about the gantlet
you know the one that let you lift a fucking boulder
link might be able to withstand it then
Lythero This should be an instant KO in smash now.
Wayne Ekeh problem is you don't get the Gantlets till late in the game plus you need the Longshot to even get to the Gantlets
You better not, they're addictive.
You'll get..... hooked......
So I know it's all fun and games using real world physics on a fantasy video game where they would not apply... it's still a fascinating analysis of how things like this would work for real. That said... I'd like to see this one done again. Something that keeps getting brought up is how these forces affect the human body. Except Link isn't human, he's Hylian. Keeping in mind the Hookshot's a 169 lb lump of steel, he's also carrying, potentially, two swords, two shields, a boomerang, a bow with 50 arrows, 40 bombs, 50 bombchus, the iron boots, filled potion bottles, and a bunch of other little bits and baubles. Putting aside where he KEEPS it all... what's the weight of all that? Cause he's running around with it. What kind of bone structure and muscle mass does that require, and if that can be found, use that to see what damage the Hookshot really would do. Cause I get the feeling if the elf's beast enough to haul all that around, the force of the Longshot's not going to do so much.
That's nothing compared to Twilight Princess Link. He carries up to _90_ bombs and 60 arrows at any one time, as well as not one, but _Two_ claw shots, two shields, two swords, an ancient stone and metal spinning top half the size of his body, a _massive_ steel ball and chain, his own set of iron boots, a set of armor that slows him down as much as the iron boots if he's not carrying around any rupees, the dominion rod...
Heck, in TP he can carry around up to 1000 rupees. Imagine how much _that_ would weigh (and then, of course, imagine how much a full, max sized wallet in Winder Waker would weigh).
Logic dictates the "magical" Fairy carries everything your not using.
JaMaAuWright He isn't holding an extra shield and sword minda is as shown though after collecting them both but still the chain and ball I think that it would rip his arm off for throwing it
Logan Dunleavy Oh well, those things are still comparatively light. They'd barely make up 10% of one of the chains.
well...yeah
"The most iconic item..."
You mean the green hat? :D
IT'S THE HOOKSHOT ALRIGHT!!!!!!!!!
Nah the tunic
THE HOOKSHOT IS WHAT HE'S TALKING ABOUT
PresidentBanana
Iconic*
No ezlo was only in one game
This took a dark...DARK turn.
lol
I know right with the broken bones and then the organ thing!
So...does that mean Toon Link's weaponry makes him look like a bat-shit insane murderer, who breaks into peoples houses, and can't even speak?
AH, DARKNESS!! Darkness, everyone!
Also, not as dark as Link is Dead... or 5N@F theory... or Companion Cubes are people. That one really gave me the creeps.
Well that’s game theory for ya
12,000 Newtons. That tells you how crappy Newton's strength is.
KoopaShell TV My name's Isaac
Its true
Godzilla King of Monsters nothing there are rocks that do thank
Godzilla King of Monsters
That's less than a kiloton
The most important part of this theory is: Don't grab a LoZ hookshoot unless you have a power bracelet or power glove. Otherwise you're going to get destroyed.
Thanks for the tip Matt
Pallete fire emblem Seliph prof pic?
could always use 2 arms.
km tabs That's Skasaher(Ulster), not Seliph. Gotta love some FE4
Thats what Ive been thinking.
ok ordon
0:10 Majora’s Mask: “Am I a joke to you?”
(the ocarina also plays a HUGE role in that game, for those who don’t get it, maybe even more so than Ocarina of Time.”
So... Just to confirm, it can't be made of iron because it's too heavy, but steel is okay, even though it's MORE dense...??
Density is not how much an object’s weight. Density is and I quote “the degree of compactness of a substance” and you get it by doing mass divided by volume, but what something weighs is just how much force gravity has on you.
@@alanzavlick8045 you have all the pieces here, but I don't think you're putting them together quite right. Like you said:
density = mass / volume
Solving for mass means:
mass = density * volume
The volume is constant, (the size and shape isn't changing) meaning if density increases, mass necessarily also increases.
Weight is mass times the force of gravity, which is also constant.
Meaning, objects with a higher density will always weigh more (with the same forever of gravity)
I think it has todo more about how long the chain is... 20 meters of any metal knew to men is going to be very heavy... Also the force the hook needs to travel that fast with all that chain
All it takes is one google search to learn that iron is far heavier than steel.
Shimadamada I Need Healing No it doesn’t? Steel is denser than pure iron. Iron has a density of 7,860 kilograms per cubic metre, steel has a density of 8,050 kilograms per cubic metre.
Mat pat, what about titanium? It's strong enough and doesn't rust or corrode in water and it's MUCH lighter than steel
AJ Nowell or carbon fiber. If you wanted to make the situation more realistic the Longshot would use a cable like aircraft cable. Much lighter and smaller
AJ Nowell Could titanium even be harvested and crafted like that during that era?
AJ Nowell What's necessary for that is for them to be present in the universe. Iron in Iron boots, and similar things like that.
And maybe there is some form of spring built in in the Hookshot, so the Fore is absorbed by the Hookshot itself and not by links arms
pws3rd 1 that is a very good question because it requires very high heat but hen again this is Zelda, where a chicken can make you glide, so that’s a good question
Yeah, this is applicable to humans, but Link isn't human. How do Hylians compare to the average humans?
Hylians are human....
+Joshua “JJ” Jin Yes, like al humans, they sport their massively pointy ears.
Before you respond however, bear in mind that I know much less about Zelda than you might think, and I make that comment while very tired, all I know is that Link has pointy ears.
+Leonard Liandro uhhhhhhh ok. I honestly barely know anything about The Legend of Zelda either, but whatever, I was just trying to help.
+Joshua “JJ” Jin Well in that case, Thank you.
They are humans, link is a human... Lol
This was the first game theory episode I watched. I had to rewatch it right after matpat announced his retirement.
same man. ill be 20 this year its so sad
*WHEN HE SAYS THE OCARINA WAS IN ONE GAME*
*TRIGGERED*
THE MOON IS FALLING
well, he says it's big for one game. In Majora's Mask the masks were the big thing.
Max Errico yeah, I mean it’s not like it was needed to get any of the masks, or needed to live
Max Errico well you need the ocarina to get masks and too rewind time so it’s pretty important
....Please, can you do a video on the 3D maneuver gear from Attack on Titan? Maybe on your Film Theory channel? ....please. This video just makes me want it more.
***** Yeah, but you get all the fun added bonuses of the force required to puncture various surfaces, the retraction of the device in a second or less, the physics of the (probably steel) cords retracting back into the holster... People have been severely injured and maimed by their dog leashes snapping off the collar and retracting (you know, those nylon retractable kinds?)--what horrific damage would those wires do comparatively? Than there's the way the belts are meant to evenly distribute the force used to pull the fighter along the cables so no one body part is taking all the weight (like Link's arm in this video), but that doesn't account for organ damage from acceleration and deceleration.
While we don't know the exact materials used in building either the towns or the walls, especially because we don't even know if SNK takes places on some version of Earth or not, the walls have been called 'as tough as bedrock' and have withstood over a century's worth of battering by the Titans outside Wall Maria. Bedrock can be made up of many different rock types, but is generally used to determine building foundations and bridge anchors, and has been known to withstand the passing of glaciers in some cases. However, the prongs of the 3DMG pierce through them with ease. We've also seen them hook into trees, wooden structures, Titans, and Samson's foot. ....Mm. That was a fun scene...
Anyway, all this conjecture is fun! Even if I do get the gist of it already, it would be fun to watch a video on it, too. And I have a feeling MatPat could make a hilarious and fun topic out of it.
Pearl Carol there are quite a lot of anime theories that Film theory could do, I'm looking to see if Yu-Gi-Oh Arc-V's Solid Vision system is possible xD or if Star Trek's Holodeck would be possible.
as for the AOT gear, I'd like to see that too lol
omni-directional-manuevere gear doesnt just use grapples, it uses gas to push them along.
Sparkling Shuffle Yes, which makes the gear even more improbable because of the added force upon impact every time they stop and land on a building or tree or titan. It isn't just momentum, it's propelled. How fun would it be to look into those theoretical injuries? Like getting into a carwreck without the frame to absorb the impact... :3
The gear is designed to absorb it, plus it detaches when under stress
But he has special elf bones, right guys? RIGHT?! :"O
Nope. Sorry. All broke.
Caller :'(
Yes
No he dies
i cri evriteim
I am now ready to outsmart my classmates who are gamers. Thank you master.
(Hopefully, my classmates know and play Legend of Zelda)
If link can survive a fall from the top of Gerudo valley to the place where the cow is, and only take half a heart of damage, AND keep his legs fully intact, its safe to say he has Leon Kennedy syndrome: Femurs of Steel, which would also inquire an entire skeletal system of steel.
Considering he's from the branch of elven descent and hyrule is not earth, Gravity could have a whole different effect on him. What if the gravity of Hyrule was higher than earths? And also, there would be double the oxygen of earth, since there are giant insects (Gohma, tektits etc.) roaming about, so if the longshot has some aerodynamics to it, hed go further easier. But going on about the elven thing again, depending on who the writer is or what lore you read, they tend to be inhuman or hard to kill. They are magical, so any scientific theory or law is immediately destroyed when applied to them.
***** It's open to debate. look at the other comments. alot of other people are talking about it too.
If you think about it that way, than this whole video is taking a 16 year old video game too seriously. But what does it matter?
***** So you're just kissing MatPat's ass, though, he can say his opinion but others can't say theirs?
He ain't Jesus, bro.
***** He should stick to lore based theories though. They are quite interesting.
Leon? Oh Yeah he defies logic and takes No fall damage yet when ran over by a boulder his body is not squished
I have Golden Gauntlets. They are able to withstand 1000 Tons of Force/Pressure. So any force acted upon me from any direction from my wrist down is absorbed by the gauntlets. That is how I use the hookshot.
Link Except you were able to use the Hookshot before you discovered the Golden Gauntlets. The best explanation is that you are durable. That's all there is to it
Raheem Plummer I actually knew that. I wanted to see how long it took someone to find out. Your a smart cookie!
Link Um, sure.
Link And Link can't spell XD
Even so, you could still benefit from a feet first launch and landing, possibly using both arms to dissipate the force, and possibly a modified set of pauldron shoulder guards that could at the very least mitigate the launch and impact force by being able to brace them against a stronger part of your body, like the pelvis. And yes, there is ways to do this without hampering a full range of motion or flexibility, or your perceived weight of it by, as I mentioned before, bracing it against the strongest bones of your body.
I'm a bit unsure if the gear would ruin the character aesthetics, but then, you do wear what I believe is gold chainmail under your tunic, and in OoC, most likely a steel set as adult link, because there does appear to be some sort of mattalic layer beneath the tunic. Also, I don't believe link is 5 feet tall if the size comparison between him and Samus Aran in any setting they are shown together, ie super smash bros, is quite negligible, considering Samus is 6'3" without powersuit and roughly 6'5"-6'6" with powersuit.
Still, there may be a way to reduce these forces for a normal human at the very least.
Tbh, I'm not a huge fan of this one. This wasn't so much a theory as an explanation of how the longshot would harm a normal human. We're talking about link though, ya know, in a world where being struck with a weapon or magic only damages you slightly, where a normal human would die, and you can heal that damage by absorbing the blood and flesh of a magic heart or by drinking milk. This isn't really proving any theories, because the fact is, the longshot doesn't harm Link! I wouldn't call this a theory, but instead a hypothesis. A GAME Hypothesis! Thanks for reading.
well that is kinda the point of the Game "theory"(the term it could still be used since you can't prove it as a law) to apply real world physics to videogames & see what would happen in said scenario
Ok, you dont know what hypothesis means
Farazormal1 A Hypothesis is an educated guess. Everyone learns that in like, elementary school.
artistafrustrado1 Are you really that dense? A theory is basically a proven fact. The problem is plebeians like you use the term as slang for hypothesis.
Paul Lizotte Well, he doesnt just make a guess, he goes beyond that. A hypothesis would be if he said "i think the longshot would fuck link up" But instead he did research and calculations to back up a conclusion. Making it a theory. Its the scientific process dude
If MatPat didn't say "Just gonna let that one sit there for a second." I wouldn't have realized what he said at 9:42...
"How is this guy possibly keeping this massive thing in his pants?!" XD
That’s what she said
*step 1: access all youtubers with audible promotions*
*step 2: use one a month*
*step 3: profit for years of free "trials"*
nice plan
I like your thinking... genius
***** pre-paid credit cards, dude!! :D
Eh... you forgot to add up that Link at some point reaches his destination and... stops abruptly.
Might get some blood coming out of the pores of your skin that way. At least if slamming into a wall.
Deedless Deity an excellent point
That moment when you realise a video game elf boy is stronger, heavier AND higher than you
Sinker Dude Lol
He's pretty damn strong ;-;
R u reading the comments just because reasons
We all know why he's so strong in his right hand to long the longshot with one arm ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
M m m b m be m m. Did
I consider his shield a weapon in the right context so really the hook shot is the 3rd most iconic weapon in my eyes
Idk man I can’t think of a Link without a bow lmao
Soooo What about real life applications? What about using this thing underwater? Would using it underwater be safe?
that sounds cool
It would be more dangerous in water as you move slower in water. To move at that same speed in water would take more force.
It would only get worse, because the water will be slowing Link down.
This is actually a lot more like the style of the older theories; they had less real life-application and more equations. i personally like both styles. :)
The water would certainly make it less effective as the velocity of the hook would be less due to the dampening force the water provides. This would decrease range and the depth that the hookshot would penetrate into its target. However, the acceleration of the hook and therefore link would be similar, causing the injuries that mat mentions in the video. Providing the fireing mechanism doesn't rely on fire (gunpowder or some other combustible) to launch the hook, it could theoretically work underwater as it works on land.
I STILL can't believe the Falcon Punch lost to this.
Still waiting for a video on dating sims...
7:00 The reason he cant walk around in the boots yet he can carry the hookshot with ease is because he has the gorons bracelet, giving him better arm strength! :)
As i kept watching through this video, you repeatedly forgot about links arsenal being able to help him with all of these problems. Check the facts again matpat.
MatPat likes to use the circumstance where nothing is counteracting physics, like on his minecraft diamond armor vid, he never included enchantments to the armor, such as protection, unbreaking and other form of protection which would go against the armor breaking from certain blows from different weapons.
EndermanFinisher Exactly. I think it would be cool if he did a follow up to videos like these while adding in all of these variables and how they would change the outcome.
The bracelet, though strong enough to pull bombs and bushes from the ground, likely wouldn't be enough to carry the longshot with such ease, let alone using it on a regular basis. At best, he'd need the silver gauntlets, which he wouldn't even be able to use until he was an adult.
JustifiedMayhem32 Link can't use the hookshot or longshot until he is an adult, either.
I miss when game theories were a lot more science-y, and in turn, violent.
People who weigh 135 lbs are of "medium build"?
I've never felt so muscular in all my life.
pure muscle tho
are you 5 ft tall? if so then yes, 135 lbs is medium xD

True. I forgot Link is absurdly short.
to put that in perspective if you gain 6 inches on your height you go from medium to thin with that same 135. add another 6 inches and you're in a dangerous spot for your health.
lol I'm 5'10''½ and 137 pounds
hey, link surviving the Long Shot Hook to the face is a LONG SHOT! HAH
its a joke
Barry McCann Got my apporval
It got my SEAL of approval
lee loo well that was ONYX-pected
You got ma charizard of charozardusproval.
Didn't mention the impact of him slamming into the wall.
He didn't really have to. I think he had made his point that the thing was impossible at that point lol
***** Wellp, he wasn't dead yet, so.
True.. Another thing i think is that he didn't feel the need to say it because we all know what would happen next.. Nothing like a bloody splat to end a game right?
***** Yeah but that's like saying this video should be 5 seconds long with Matt patt just saying "Link dies in a bloody splat, but that's just a theory, a game theory"
Probably far more than it would take him get a concussion. At least. Going from 200m/s to 0 in one tenth of a second is going to mess you up.
my only arguement as to why link survives the hookshot is that he obtained the goron bracelet as a child which if it adds the strength of a goron to a child then that strength increased as an adult and you look at the granite blocks he pushes in the forest temple it would be reasonable to assume that he could survive the strain that the hookshot would produce.
Good theory. I was waiting for this one. But there are some problems...
One, in Ocarina of Time, Link had the Goron Bracelet, as already stated here, so It'd be needed the force to break a Goron's bone, not a human one.
And, yeah, the Hookshot is not possible in real world, but Hyrule is not a real world. It's fictional. And fiction, more often than not, use a fictional metal. So it's possible that hyruleans blacksmiths have created a alloy with the same properties of steel, but less dense.
And again, Link is not human. He is hyrulean. Let's take a look at others of that race and see if we find anything...
How the heck does the postman run that fast and doesn't burst into flames?! Well, I guess that hyruleans are more resistent than us. Both external and internal. So maybe Link's organs aren't so soft as we'd assume.
But I'm overthinking. You did a really good job.
Wow that what I was thinking, you beat me to the punch.
That would explain a lot of things link can do like wield a hammer twice the size of him in wind waker or the ball and chain in twilight princess
ZooZibble Nintendo.
ZooZibble That's why it's fictional. It is impossible to know the periodic table of Hyrule, but we do know it is different than ours, since they can do magic, such as FArore's Wind, Din's Fire and Nayru's Love.
The ideal would be compare it to ours. See what they can do and figure it out as I did with the Steel alloy.
TsukuneD This is game theory, there is no 'overthinking'.
MATPAT YOU CAN'T SAY THE OCARINA WAS ONLY ICONIC IN ONE ZELDA GAME ON THE INTERNET... DO YOU WANT TO GET LYNCHED BY ZELDA FANBOYS?!?!?
draven?
don't forget about the fangirls aha sexist :)
ronan gozlin draaaaaaven
sapphire Gregg a fangirl isn't a real thing...
sapphire Gregg I feel like fanboys encompasses all super fans and girls is just more gender specific. its like how in french elles refers to a group of girls and only girls while ils refers to a group of people no matter who's in it.
The Ocarina was actually in five games: A Link to the Past, Link's Awakening, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and Minish Cap.
And Hyrule Warriors! :D
palex OO erm... i dont think that is cannon...
Ragnarok the end
Its cannon in another universe, beside its still a Zelda game.
Ragnarok the end it is Nintendo also said where it is in the timeline. It's in the.. Where is Link's Awakening into?
Ragnarok the end
Of course it's not a cannon. It's a wind instrument.
This reminds me of how I always found it strange that even after getting the silver & golden gauntlets, you STILL need to hold Biggoron's Sword with 2 hands. Also maybe the Hookshot is made of a special material which only exists in the Zelda Universe. It's like how in ALBW we find Master Ore to improve the Master Sword
I've got a bone to pick with this theory. you chose the longest, heaviest, most powerful hookshot to work with. the shorter hookshots are probably much less dangerous, also, I think you should have done some gravity calculations, because if the gravity of Hyrule is more than earth, which I believe it is, he will probably have stronger bones than your average human, and be able to tolerate more G's than one, meaning that, though he would likely pass out after that wild ride, there would probably be no lasting damage. this would also explain how he can carry such a heavy hookshot, but who says it really IS that heavy? steel is an alloy that humans learned to manufacture, and because we are human, we kinda suck. that hookshot is made for the hero, and was left in the temple long ago. the Zelda universe has Gorons and minish, master craftsmen with much more skill than a human. whoever crafted that hookshot has a better, more lightweight alloy that would not exert nearly so much force on links arm. of course, I get you cant just say there's no way to tell how heavy that hookshot is, so game over. but it might be worth looking into any fictional metals in the Zelda universe to revise this theory.
The force of gravity would also change if the gravity changed, levelling it out, would it not? Now im only fourteen so im probably wrong but it makes sense to me, anyone else
+Amun Anubis The gravity needs to change for the force to change not the other way around. But if the gravity is a lot heavier than Earth's then it would make sense that Link has harder to brake bones. BuUT! The hookshot would be even heavier as well. So really it would still do the same thing even if Link was stronger and had denser bones, because the hookshot would probably have even more force than he calculated. It would have to have more force to launch the head and himself *Link* and the chain. So really he was just calculating for Earths gravity. I mean you can put in any number instead of 9.8. And it would probably still rip him apart.
madison brown This is a theory...
Techno - io Games, Minecraft and More! well, to be fair, a theory still needs to have the correct evidence to be a plausible theory.
madison brown he choose it because he wanted to see the maximum damage that could be done to Link
Moral of the story: Logic does not exist and Link is constantly giving science and logic the middle finger.
True. True.
Who is waching in 2017 and who also thinks the good ol' days when you see the opening?
