Billionaire. Playboy. Philanthropist. CRIMINAL?! Wait, what? Okay maybe it’s obvious that Tony Stark hasn’t had the “best” business practices. But what you may not know is that war profiteering is not the worst of his crimes. In fact, he should probably be facing LIFE in prison! But to see his full sentence, you’ll have to watch this episode.

This is exactly what I was thinking when the video started. Superheroes are pretty much breaking laws by being superheroes. However, in the MCU, some of them are covered in at least some of their acts by being government sanctioned. Captain America, Falcon, and Hawkeye all started that way, though they wound up going rogue in Civil War. War Machine has always operated under government authorization. The Sokovia Accords temporarily brought all those that agreed to it under legal operation, which applied to both Iron Man and Spider-Man.

Realistically the most likely reason Tony isn't charged with any crimes is because of Nick Fury. SHIELD has a lot of sway in the MCU and seems to operate on their own terms in many cases. Fury's contact with Tony at the end of the first movie was probably not only enough to get him as an agent of SHIELD but also make sure any crimes he committed were considered justifiable under the conditions they were in.

I actually think the iconic line "I am Iron-man" is his real life legal loophole for keeping his suits privatized. he is identifying himself as the iron-man and making no seperation legally between himself and his suits, an individual can not be legally considered a weapon because that would involve legally labeling them as property, and so by claiming that he is iron-man and therefor the suits are an extension of himself he is creating a legal loophole to prevent the government from seizing anything.

The court itself kept quiet and didn't have an answer. When Peter messed up in the ship wreck. See the way how Tony taught him be more responsible. While the other Avengers gave their life to save people. Tony not only made the Avengers win the war but also sacrificed his life for it. If Tony wanted he could have sit happily and enjoyed his wealth for lifetime. The amount of wealth he has could also support 2 generations after Tony without doing anything. RDJ improvising "I am Iron Man" was one of the best moves in the MCU. Just imagining the series where its him doubling back constantly and trying to portray Tony Stark and Iron Man separately like a secret identity would have likely ended up a weird bungled mess. This was followed up after S.H.I.E.L.D collapsed by the "Sokovia Accords" and Stark being one of the initial signatories of that legislation.

He breaks the law, the interesting thing was how he rationalized it. For a long time that's why he couldn't be the guy as Steve mentioned in the original Avengers. It's why Strange wouldn't tell him or acknowledge what had to be done until the moment was there, so Tony could process. He's a guy that had an existential crisis and PTSD at the same time, had the arguably the most complete character arc so far, and still was at the top of his game...out of necessity I'd imagine.
