🙋🏼 ABOUT ME: Hi guys! My name is Alyona. I was born in Russia. I'm a musician. And I love art, makeup, fashion, style and beautiful environments. I love playing with makeup and fashion, but at the same time, I’m quite a minimalistic person. I don't like the idea of being fixated on the body too much. I have an alternative and unconventional viewpoint on beauty, the body types and face shapes. I love helping other women find their "it" and finally discover their beauty and boost their confidence.
I have several series on my channel that you might be interested in such as: Body Types, Contouring, Makeup History and Makeup Transformations. Also some random beauty hacks about skin care, hair, nails and beauty in general.

Well, that depends on und what you mean by modern society.
2 examples are the 80s and the early til mid 2000s.
The fashion was very flashy in both, and in the 2000s it was also very "open", as Aly would say 😉
And women started wearing very very shorts in the 60s, much shorter than Julia Roberts shorts were, in pretty woman.

I used to cake masses of makeup on my face everyday. I couldn't go on a night out without fake eyelashes. At one point as a teenager I would wear two padded bras. I spent years with low self esteem, and social anxiety hiding behind a mask.
Then in my 30s, I stopped wearing padded bars (I am very flat), stopped wearing makeup- even mascara, and stopped dying my hair which has a fair amount of grey in it.
I had to literally get to know myself again!
I then went through a phase of looking like a bit of a feral hippy- long straggly hair and baggy clothes. I just wanted to feel as natural as possible whilst I found myself again.
Recently, age 35, I learned about what clothes suit my shape and I cut my hair. I exercise and eat well and look quite healthy. I am beginning to have confidence in my authenticity. I am loving that my ancestors have shaped how I look and that my interesting looking face with my high forehead is individual and beautiful. There is nothing wrong with my body even if I am angular and slim.

People getting triggered over nothing. Did you guys not even listen to the video? Jesus. She was teaching a course about style, and you guys saw the title and instantly pulled out the picket signs. She did not say women can not look sexy. Infact, she produced examples of some of these trends, done the RIGHT way She said if we wear ALL OF THESE trends at once, the skimpy clothes with the differen textures, the over done makeup, the heels that don't go with the outfit, the 'unkept' hair and makeup, ALL OF THESE TOGETHER make you look CHEAP. Like a prostitute. A porn star. A homeless woman. And for all of your 'leave porn stars alone!' soap boxing, you guys do know that porn stars don't look the same when they're not performing, right? They scale back the makeup, sometimes by 100%. They don't dress skimpy either. They look like regular women. Which, they are. I actually find it offensive that all of you women who are objecting to this video are ASSUMING that Pornstars WANT to look like the type of women that they are depicting in their films. These are characters. They are acting. How dare you guys assume that looking cheap is something that they enjoy.

However, I don’t judge that kind of behavior cause it’s become so widespread that it is almost expected, not to mention it’s hard to know where to draw the line. I don’t agree with the whole choker and hoop earring thing and some of her other points cause that isn’t a sexual style choice to me.

Aly explains that there are many elements that must be taken into account according to the time and the occasion. When a girl is dressed in full attire, she should evaluate whether it is exaggerated according to the occasion or not.
She is not judging negatively anyone. She explains that by combining the elements, in some way, they will make you look cheap or out of context. Aly explains it perfectly. The environment, the context and the occasion are fundamental when we choose our outfit, accessories and other things such as makeup, etc. It also makes a very interesting reference and it is knowing how to choose the hair color and how to combine it to give a message.
Unfortunately, people tag you when they see you. Regardless of whether they know you or not, they tag you according to your appearance. Their first visual impression, even if you do not want it, will tag you at first glance.
Aly I agree with you and your comments seem very useful to point out important aspects when combining the elements in our personal presentation.

I think the biggest problem with the look and the story behind the "porn" look is that it objectifies women even more as sexual objects, and not as individuals. There's nothing wrong with adding one or even a few of the elements talked about here, but, if your look exacerbates your womanly sensuality soooo much, it does kind of lead to that image of a sexual object more than a human being.
I'm not saying it is the woman's fault, because it is certainly not, it's society's fault, as women are usually pushed in that direction of being sensual and pleasing to the masculine eye. That's what the patriarchy is about, it's not about what a woman is, but how a man perceives a woman. Women should be sexy, but not too much or too little. If they are, you can criticize and disrespect them, because they don't respect themselves. That's how society thinks.
The big problem, however, is that girls feel pressured to look a certain way, to please the eyes of men from a young age, and one of their sources are celebrities and porn stars ,as many boys will fantasize about them. A girl that has that look will, of course, attract attention, and will be popular to boys, but she won't be respected, because there's also the stigma surrounding porn stars, there's the stigma of looking too sexy.

Wow! I'm shocked to see what a negative backlash this got. This comment is probably going to get buried, but I think people are too quick to jump to the guns without understanding what she really means. Nobody said it's wrong or bad to look or to be a porn star. All she is saying that combining too many of those elements makes for an exaggerated and overly sexualized look. If that's what you're going for, good for you. Otherwise, it's better knowing how to dosage those elements, so you can still be sexy, without it being "too much" - hence, this guide was made. Probably Aly should've treated the subject like walking on eggshells, but it's sad how overly offended people get on the internet.

the comment section makes me kinda sad ): there's so many people getting triggered without even bothering to understand the message Aly is trying to convey. she never judge anyone for wearing this item or liking that style--she even showed the example of the elements she mentioned being worn in a classy and elegant way. i think it's great that she encourage young women not to get influenced and pressured by what society or media think is beautiful, because everyone has their own charming points that they need to embrace.

Yes! 100%. She's basically saying: How to Dress Classy, and in her video, she highlights elements of how people can look cheap. Pornstars wear that type of clothing, because they're trying to attract attention and stay in business!

The saddest part of this look is that it projects a belief that a womans highest life priority should be to cater themselves the flavors of the other gender. To work long and hard hours to render themselves palatable to the attention of men. By doing so, we implicitly ascert that the validity and importance of their desires is above ours. But why?? We are both equals. Every human being has so much more to live and offer than a purpose of catering to the taste of someone else. Our lives have other profound objectives and forms of value. Let's live and act for ourselves now, our life minutes pass us by! Lets form experiences and memories that indulge in US, not restlessly aimed to indulge someone else.

Enjoyed this video. Especially the message at the end. It’s so true that seeking that type of attention never makes you happy, satisfied or contented long term. It’s so hollow in the end. Because what you are seeking can only be gotten from within. No one else can give that self worth to you, you have to find it within. I’ve been down that path before of seeking attention in the wrong ways and it’s a lonely endeavour. Until I truly found contentment within myself. It truly has become a virus these days and it’s very sad.

Candy Kane I’m not just talking about ‘influencers’... I’m talking about, for example, those people we all know in our friends list who post hundreds if not thousands of selfies looking for self worth... or those who are extremely insecure and are looking for people to constantly boost their self esteem. Or those women who, as Aly states, don’t feel alive unless they are getting constant attention from men (or women). Who feel depressed without that constant attention, it’s like a drug to them. Sadly, that is not the way to find contentment or happiness long term. I’m talking about the extreme cases of this.

People may roll their eyes at this, but giving my life to Christ, being born again and becoming a Christian has given me a great peace I can't explain. I don't have any desire to try to attract someone's attention and am content with who I am and who God made me to be. It's very freeing and I wish I was like this as a teen and young adult. I feel like I wasted a lot of my life wanting to be like someone else, comparing myself to other girls, wishing I was pretty like others instead of just being happy with who I am.
I like how Aly teaches you how to be happy with your own strengths and weaknesses and what to do to compliment them instead of trying to change them like the beauty industry does.

Hey, my dude, I personally don't really like the Kardashian/modern look, especially on myself, I'm more in favour of purely 'cute' clothing, but I also disagree with the core message of this video.
Though I found the whole video was mainly backpedaling after every statement. But her main message at the end of the video was basically "You're all beautiful, except those hoes who dress the the Kardashians who get all the male attention." (obviously I'm being more blunt than she is, but that's the main point).
Personally I think everyone should have the right to wear whatever the hell they want, with no/little judgement (within the laws of that country of course). I get judged for what I wear, it's never pleasant. I've been called a whore or prostitute by some girls in some on my most modest outfits (Oversized jumper, jeans, and hair tied up), and I never want to do that to another girl. I don't have to like an outfit to think the girl wearing shouldn't be called a porn star.

I love all your videos anyway, but this one really made me happy! Many young girls are struggling to find their identity - that is actually what puberty is about and it is okay, but nowadays it is way too easy to think that "sexy" is the right path to happiness... However it is not at all. I also had to find out - that being a woman means being beautiful, being powerful, selfconfident. Living in harmony with myself, my body. It does not mean living for myself! But living for what is truly important - for truth, love and peace. This is what we were "made" for. Trying to be interesting for other people is just waisting your time, it can never make you happy. I am so glad you are speaking about it, because our society needs that... Anyway I think that nowadays women are feeling unbeareble pressure to be perfect in everything (perfect body and face, but also perfect education, perfect job, perfect kids, perfect relationships) - but it does not work like this...

I love this video and hiw frank you were, I adore how you pointed out all the weak points of our today's society/trends going around and I really did feel like the "girl" that you were talking in the end of the video that feels obligated to follow something that doesn't feel in sink with herself, unorganic, it is funny that I find myself in a crazy similar situation to the one you described if not the very same one, it truly felt like a wake up call, that I felt very strongly towards, but didn't know how to reach, I felt cornered to be that for a while and you really helped me free that doubt of going back to what I know and love. I think you are one of the last channels on this surface that produces any moral driven content, I admire your integrity and your courage to point out the issues, to break the problem down, as well as I love the fact that you bluntly speak your mind unlike most influencers that hold back in fear of negative feedback. You are one of a kind.

  • @perfumaphilia3246

Those angered by this video can't accept the unfortunate reality that books are judged by their covers in society, consciously and subconsciously. Everyone takes various visual cues and makes assessments about other peoples' personalities, lifestyles, jobs, socioeconomic statuses, morals, religious beliefs, gender identity, sexual orientation, etc. I don't think Aly is trying to tell people what to do or decide how they should look. She's sharing her own observations and opinions on how to look a certain way if you so desire.
I get that there's a lot of societal pressure put on women to be a certain way. There is a moral stigma against porn stars and overt sexuality that needs to end. I don't necessarily think Aly is addressing the topic from that angle at all, that's a much more in depth video. I think she's addressing it purely from an esthetic/fashion point of view. You don't have to have any moral objections to porn and pornstars to find the "pornstar look" esthetically unpleasing, unstylish, and tacky. My opinion is dressing that way should be a fully conscious decision, not the default "sexy" look for women.
And as for her sentiments at the end of the video, it's no secret that a lot of people who have worked in porn were drawn to it for the wrong reasons and stayed in the field for the wrong reasons. There are problems within the porn industry that need to be addressed, and consequences of porn consumption (some bad, some good). There are also issues that have nothing to do with porn that might lead people into that world, such as financial desperation and low self-worth. These aren't the only reasons why people are drawn to porn, but it's not uncommon.

Girl, you’re so innocent. I’ve honestly been doing a lot of research on the internet about this topic because of how disgusted I am with porn culture and it turns out that all men watch porn. Or at least all men who watch porn want me to believe that all other men watch it regularly too. It makes me sick to my stomach that society (including a lot of women) wants to normalize it so desperately as if it’s completely normal. When I display my disapproval of it, men on the internet go nuts and are sooo defensive about it and tell me that I’m a “prude” or “sexually repressed” which I’m absolutely not. They also say that I will never be able to find a life partner who doesn’t watch porn and that watching it multiple times a week is totally normal for any healthy person with a sex drive (which is again utter bullshit). I don’t know what to believe honestly. All I know is that the way porn displays sex is so disgusting, vulgar and filthy. It cheapens the relationship between a man and woman and is so degrading. There’s no way I want the father of my children to be a porn viewer because such a man would look at everything from the lens of perversion !

Look like you are available for purchase isn't sexy, it's self commercialization and the dreges of capitalism. Excellent video and message. The ending is so true; it's too bad that we don't realize this when we are young - and usually not until we're much older and it makes sense. Thanks Aly!

Really great advice about making sure the makeup matches the “story”. Would love a whole video on matching makeup looks to different outfits/events(daytime vs evening, everyday/work, day date, etc)

I really appreciate what you did here. The message was perfect and I wish more people (men and women) could see it and take the message with them. I don't think this is something we as a whole think about when we follow certain looks that are trending or what's getting the attention/popularity of the opposite sex. I don't think we notice the impression it leaves or the lasting effects it can have on how others are viewed or made to feel at the end of the day esp in the younger generations. If this is the look you prefer or the attention you are comfortable having then I say by all means go for it. However, on the same note, if your doing it to feel more attractive or to fit in but its not comfortable and not your style then just do what works for you. The right people will notice you and appreciate you for being you. Bottom line just do you and be happy with who you are. Don't let society or others dictate what is beautiful and attractive because we are all different and beautiful in our own true unique selves. ❤

I think you are very brave. It needed to be said. Thank you. What color and brand of lipstick do you have on in this video, if you can remember.

100% agree with you about everything. 1 only element is not the problem is when some women over do or try. For some reason every women want to look the same and over sexualised, it looks tacky in my opinion.
    Great content🤗❤️

I agree with this video 100%. I don't understand the backlash, do people actually think Kim Kardashian and Insta baddies are classy ? Do you think you're classy when you copy them? It's very obviously cheap BUT if that's what you like it's okay, you will attract similar people to you. There's a reason why Kim Kardashian isn't dating David Gandy, Jon Hamm or Idris Elba or why Kylie Jenner isn't friends with Elle Fanning, Lily Collins , Zendaya or Emma Watson. And it's their CHOICE.

I have a romantic/theatric romantic bodytype, very curvilinear and I have difficulty in dressing "respectfully" because my body jumps from the clothes and easily becomes vulgar. Could you make a video about this?

    • @beebikinis
      @beebikinis 6 років тому +82

Carolina Paiva If you dress in an outfit that every other woman can pull off without looking sexual and still think you look "too much", don't apologize for having an amazing, beautiful figure. I have the same "problem", but honestly at this point, I can't help my figure, in fact I've chosen to love it, if someone thinks my relatively modest outfit is sexual then that is their problem.

beebikinis thank you sweetie, now i feel better. But i can't help that my hips show up easily. I don't like this hahaha

I don't see how natural curves can be a problem tbh, but how about oversized clothes or loose jumpers/shirts that cover your hips? Anything less tight on your waist should be just fine.

    • @Gengibrecookie
      @Gengibrecookie 6 років тому +15

Loose or oversized clothes made me very round, very strange and without dimension. And wide pants leave my hips and thighs huge. This is basically the point. Tight clothes mark too much and wide clothes make me huge. For what i understood aly saying, romantic types should use "cute, feminine" clothes. May i am wrong.

Yeah, I totally see what you're saying since we probably have similar figures. Personally I don't have a problem with tight or sexy clothes, but I tend to dress mostly in a "cute, girly" way. Floral skater or wrap dresses, for example, are my go to's (always paired with flat shoes). Something like the ones below:

it's like you described this thing that's everywhere, but that I couldn't put into words! it's the porn vibe and it's viral, some people also curate the way they speak and the facial expression they make but it's again that vibe and it's a dangerous trap, thank you for this!

thank you aly, you're really one of the best makeup artists on youtube, you really know the actual 'rules' of makeup and don't just rely on trends like most of the others do :) you teach us how to feel beautiful in ALL our bodies and i appreciate that so much :) you are so so talented and i agree with this video so much, everything you said at the end - porn is very disturbing trend now a days

I think the message was that young girls shouldn't feel like they need to wear provocatively to get boy's attention. And it has become a trend that, more attention = you are valuable. But using other ppl's images without context is immoral. Legally you can, but imagine being one of the girls in the pic.

This video is so good, thanks for making this I am in the beauty industry and love natural beauty looks and enhancing our natural features to bring out the best in you instead of being a clone of all these celebrities. Thanks for voicing some of my major concerns about the way people think you need to present yourself to be beautiful.
