  • IN THIS EPISODE: I read about Corny Cole in a book written by John Canemaker about the making of the Raggedy Ann animated feature back in the 70s. In this book is an entire chapter about Corny Cole, the production designer for the movie. Here was his artwork made to show what the movie would look like. It inspired me to want to design characters and backgrounds. And he was a great guy. Very generous with his knowledge. He would always tell us to look for inspiration outside of animation, look to fine arts and illustration and children’s books. There’s a whole world out there with images to inspire you. In future videos I will show you some art books and how to copy masterworks and learn from them. Look up Corny Cole and see other artworks he did. There are videos of his animation on UA-cam as well, I may have linked to them earlier, but take another look. Keep drawing….!
