I dug a a drainage ditch around the back of our yard when we purchased our Port Charlotte house in August of 2021 so water could runoff out into the street instead of flooding the backyard and backing up into the house. It work perfectly but still the surge got so high it overwhelmed the drainage and it almost flooded the house -- just inches to go and then it stopped. And I ran outside into the max intensity of the storm to try and keep our airborne storage shed from hitting the neighbors house. Luckily, it hit what was left of the fence and blew to smithereens. Then I had to belly crawl back to the house because the leaves and branches in the wind were beating the heck out me.

We always lowered the water in the pool before a big storm. Makes a difference.

I knew the storm was going to be bad from here in MS. How did the residents of FL not know? I was messaging a lady on Pine Island and she said she was staying along with everyone she knew. 😳 I was like, NO!! Haven't heard from her since 💀

just mentioning ....IF ever again one day we have a monster like this one, dont think we will till were really really old. 15-20 years from now lol. But..... I know someone that threw all the pool stuff IN the pool the day before the strom. Chairs, tables, etc etc etc. Anything outside like that, so it wont blow away or go anywhere. - then a few days later just take anything like a pole ,hooky thing & just drag the stuff out. I thought he was crazy at first, turns out he did the right thing.

Hurricanes, storms, tornadoes etc I think it is one of the most dangerous especially the tornado although it lasts a short time is a mounstro that would end with tod

Ian Englewood is a fairly specific name for a hurricane.

After seeing so many videos of Ian hoping through their houses no windows boarded up, I think I will never board up my house again. Specially living in dead center of the state.

A lot of them may not look like there is anything over them but they may have clear hurricane shutters. I do on my house and they kept my windows from breaking.

      You don't need to.
If you live that far inland the winds won't be strong enough to break them.

Ian pretty much trashed Englewood so I wonder how much of this guys house remained, "after the fact".

You are one lucky dude! A screen patio/pool cover offers zero protection to flying objects at 100+ MPH. Standing outside even worse. You are so lucky not to have a limb or 2x4 sticking through you. It might be safer to play on a freeway 🙂

If you look at the direction the trees were blowing you would see that the house was his primary block from the wind. It really isn’t as dangerous as you are thinking.

@@tlandry9689 Uhhh? Did you see him open the screen door and walk outside? Please remember small vortices (Tornadoes) can spin up and sling material also. Trees especially tall trees don’t always fall the direction the wind is blowing they snap and fall or the base root system gives way and they fall in the most top heavy direction and the screen patio cover is no protection at all. Have a great day.

The sun of God new world is being prepare but Lucifer and his soldiers won't be residing in it, all the hate, greed and racism will be gone, When the sun of God say all lives matters, he means all lives matter. his children will be free from their oppressors.
