Thankfully we've got Apple doing their stuff and seems incredible, btw I'm a PC guy but I'm getting more and more convinced to switch to apple silicon for video editing and digital creative stuff
Bullshit!!!! Do you even know how old the Xeon chip is? It's a 14nm chip compared to the modern 7 and 5nm chips, plus with Intel there are still way more programs and features that m1 doesn't support/offer.

@@AchakBrooks i was debating between m1 iMac 24 or iMac Pro, found a 10 core model with 64gb and 2tb storage. It’s more powerful for my photo editing needs and comes with a bigger screen. If specked m1 iMac to match the iMac Pro the price would have been equal, minus the ports.

We don't know the specs on the iMac Pro and what GPU it's running. The one advantage with the iMac Pro is that you can run Bootcamp, hook up an eGPU and connect Nvidia's RTX 3090ti with 24Gb of VRAM and have access to CUDA and Optix rendering.

any of the newer macbooks with an M1 chip are suffice. what i suggest tho is purchasing a dell xps 13, 14 or 15 instead. I’m using a 2020 macbook m1 and i’ve already had 2 hardware problems (screen got fried because of m1’s low compatibility with @ usb-c adapter; a start cycle that could only be fixed by a complete wipe & reset at the apple store). and i’ve only had it for about 8months. although it’s only 2 malfunctions i personally also don’t like the fact that there’s only 2 usb-c ports and a headphone jack that forces you to buy an adapter. I was also deciding between the XPS 14 and macbook originally but ended up getting a macbook because I wanted hardware that matched my phone. Overall don’t absolutely settle on a macbook unless you have reason to. My buddy who handles set design for the band black pink and other big projects uses the XPS and also recommends it over macbook.
The name in your video on the imac is misleading - "double Xeon". All Imac pro configurations only have a single Xeon processor in them, as do all the Mac Pro 2019, although there are plenty of Windows machines actually with DUAL Xeons with the same lga 3647 socket used by the W series processors that are in the Imac Pro and the Macpro 2019.
Are you doing CPU rendering, or GPU Blender rendering? This isn't a great comparison: you're comparing a CPU+GPU (M1/max) to a CPU (Xeon) to do rendering. If you added a current (e)GPU to the Xeon, you'd be comparing two similar types of things, and .the rendering time would be different. Of course, if I were only considering buying an Apple computer, I wouldn't be buying a Mac Pro + brand new eGPU right now...

Good to see this real World render test. It would be great to see like for like apple M1 chip sets vs PC at the same price point. For example a mac mini @ $699 vs a desktop pc @ $699 and like wise the Studio with max @ $2000 vs a desktop pc @ $2000, finally studio ultra @ $4000 vs a PC @ $4000
This won't happen, The Ultra line will probably be left as the best configuration for studio, and base configuration for when the Mac Pro comes out and maybe an even beefier M1 extreme or something for the best configuration. The Mac book Pro will probably get Pro M2 and Max M2 next upgrades.

That is because M1 has got quite good integrated GPU and Xeon hasn't got any. Xeon is way better in most tasks that uses CPU not GPU.
