I swear the 1999 movie maybe the Best modern version of, Washington Irvin's. Iconic short story of "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow". I know it a reimagined. but, It's remains an Iconic for Movie fans. Plus it does an Oscar in it's legacy. So yeah, Tim Burton,Danny Elfman,Johnny Depp,Christina Ricci and Christopher Walken (Who I did not recognize in the movie) did a great job by making this movie.
The Disney cartoon was my introduction to the story. When the 1999 movie came out I remember seeing the poster in the movie theater lobby and thought it looked cool. After watching it on tv, I was freaking horrified. The fact the film was the first time that I saw a kid (about the same age I was) being beheaded made The Headless Horseman more terrifying than the Universal Monsters I watched
The horseman was a Hessian mercenary, sent to these shores by German princes to keep Americans under the yoke of England, but unlike his compatriots who came for money, the Horseman came for the love of carnage. When the battle was joined, there you'd find him.
Sleepy Hollow is my all time favorite Halloween movie, but also one of my favorite Tim Burton movies in general and one of my favorite gothic horror movies. I love the combination between Halloween and Gothic. Tim Burton is the reason Halloween is my favorite holiday/celebration, besides Christmas.
The first time would have to be from a VHS that had the Disney version of Ichabod Crane's story, in Spanish no less. Having read the story, I am a big fan of this particular spook.
The very 1st time I heard of the story was a vhs movie my uncle has, back when I was 6 in the early 90's. The 1980 film starring Jeff Goldblum as Ichabod. A Dullahan is said to have a whip made from a back bone spine. Just like the last ep of s1 Legacies. Spinoff to Vampire Diaries. That's a cool kind of whip for a villain. Ghostly or not.

I’m hoping you guys over there at *WatchMojo* Consider doing a Top 10 list about *Fox’s* Adaptation of *Sleepy Hollow* featuring Tom Mison as Ichabod Crane as well as the other talented actors of that show Nichole Beharie, Lyndie Greenwood, John Noble, Katia Winter, Orlando Jones as well as many other actors who where lucky to have a role on the show. I feel that show is so under appreciated that it doesn’t get enough acknowledgment nowadays now that’s it’s been off the air for 7 years now soon going on 8 years. There’s so many Top 10’s you can make from the *Sleepy Hollow* TV Series Mojo. Please do consider doing some lists for that amazing, funny, epic, and intense series going into 2025. 🥳🐴🎃👮🏾
As at least four actors from the Harry Potter-Fantastic Beasts franchises appear in this movie, why don’t you do a list of non- Wizarding World movies to feature the most Wizarding World actors?
Why not? 😉 Who said *Sleepy Hollow* only has to be only acknowledge during October. I suggest checking out the *Sleepy Hollow* TV Series produced by Fox it’s not just taking place only in October but all year round and that story has a twist it takes place in modern day *Sleepy Hollow* where Ichabod Crane is a soldier in the American Revolution and killed on the battlefield in 1781 where he next wakes up resurrected in 2013. If the names Tom Mision and Nicole Beharie you might have heard of this show. I do highly recommend it though. It doesn’t disappoint! 👍

Watch Sleepy Hollow now paramnt.us/ParamountScares-Socials
Disney's Legend of Sleepy Hollow scared me as a kid. I still get chills when I watch the Headless Horseman chasing Ichabod.
My first introduction to the headless horseman was Disney’s The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad
Same
Ditto.
Nothing like a Halloween staple 6 days before Christmas
No other laugh has scared me as much as that of the Headless Horseman from Disney’s _The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad._
Disney's the Legend of Sleepy Hollow was my first introduction to the headless horseman. Loved the TV series Sleepy Hollow too.

It's one of my favorite movies. My favorite scene was when Ichabod is freaked out in his bed, finally accepting it's all true😂😂.
@ Now that you mention it. The movie does have some real funny moments!
Sleepy Hollow is one of my favorite horror films, and the legend has always fascinated me
This movie had a lot of amazing actors

My favorite take on the Headless Horseman story, more inspiration than a complete retelling, is the Chopper episode of Kolchak: The Night Stalker.
awesome job about The Legend of the Headless Horseman from WatchMojo

I said it once and I’ll said it again. Heads will roll in Johnny Depp’s version of the legend. And boy did they.
The Horseman should be a guest character in Mortal Kombat.
Now that is a brilliant concept!! Well thought!
There's no dialogue
