Finally, here is episode 2 of Shannara Explained: History, Conclusion. I apologize for the delay, but as you will see in the video I chose the hardest way possible to make this video. I won't be doing that again.
In this video we are going to cover the first book in the series, the Sword of Shannara, which leads into the book the series is based on.
We follow Allanon, the brothers Shea & Flick as well as a host of supporting characters as they fight to defeat the Warlock Lord once and for all and save the Four Lands.

Thank you for making this video. It looks like you put a lot of work into it. I first read these books, starting in 1988. I read them a few times, but it has been a long while. Would I be disappointed with the series do you think? As in how faithful to the books is it? Thanks again.

Tim Williams first off, thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. I vividly remember finding Sword of Shannara in my elementary school library and reading it in like 5 hours. It quite literally changed my life.
As for the series, it depends. I watched an interview with Terry Brooks where he talked about the differences between telling a story in novel form, and telling one in film form.
He views them as two different expressions of his story, which I think was a smart way to look at it. There are moments that are fantastic, and some of the actors really embodied the characters for me in a great way.
If you can view them as two different things, I think you’ll enjoy it. If you will have trouble with pretty large changes to he characters and narrative, I would steer clear.

Just gotta say, I love to hear that Street Fighter 2010 music. Loved that game back in the day.
Nice job on this series, although I am more interested in the metanareatibe than a summary of the books

Hey, just found your channel. I fell in love with the Shannara tv show right away and have recently bought the first book so these videos are great as a bridge between the two considering the differences you've said about in the last video.
Thanks for the fantastic videos so far, can't wait for more :D

My God this was so much work, that I will never, ever do again. At least to this level. I might do a bit of 8 bit animation stuff here and there though. Probably, maybe.

Still, this was very high quality and I appreciate that level of commitment towards Shannara. Makes me wonder how Shannara would've fared as an 8-bit game series back in the day

Patrick Burkholder I appreciate the kind words. Shannara has a special place in my heart. And as for the game angle, yeah totally. Of course pixel games are all the rage now, so maybe we’ll see a beautiful shannara game. Who knows.

I have been reading Shannara since 1991 when my flatmate lent me the first book. I have read all of them, including the Word and Void series. Some I have read multiple times. I especially enjoyed the one with the Fisher King's created daughter, Crys? something?, that went North. That was the first time I really got that this was a dystopian vision of our future.
I found the series by accident one rainy afternoon, a couple of months ago. I devoured it and was so pleased it was good. Looking forward to the second series and glad I have found your channel.

+Pink Hornet I have read many of the books multiple times as well, I find that with books like his you find something new each time.
Are you thinking of The King of the Silver River and his daughter Quickening? If so, right on. That was an amazing story. I think that series (the heritage series) is my favorite of his books.
Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you enjoy the second series!

Great job, would love more, I am a listener as in a Audio books, and I ran across Terry Brooks in a truck stop and I started with Armageddon's children and finished that series and watched the TV show then I got audible and I started in order with the sword of shannara and I am now currently on tanequil.

Nice! Welcome to the family. I'm working on a video about the Elves, since they are unique in the Shannara Universe, and then will be moving onto looking at each episode of season 1, and how they differ from the book. Thanks for stopping by, and subscribe if you haven't already, so you'll know when the next video is up!

How do the race of elves even exist if this is a post-apocalyptic story of our real world?

    • @CJDExplains
      @CJDExplains  Рік тому

Great question. I have a video on the history of the elves you can watch, but in a nutshell, they are all that remains from the age of fairy, which predated our civilization by many thousands of years.
The elves evolved away from being dependent on magic to exist, and hid themselves away in remote areas.
