I read the description a couple times before coming here.
Don’t buy. I’m not trying to be a downer but the thing isn’t reliable. I loved at first but it’s very hard to light after the first 15 or so strikes. I’ve filled it 4 times and been able to light the flame a total of 6 times. It takes 20-30 strikes to do so and I’ve put the intense testing to make sure it’s not me but the lighter. Turning up the gas, bleeding everything out then refilling, even taking it apart and putting it back together it’s no good sadly. So save the money or find a better one hope this helps.
Just wanna say you're WAY better than the everyday minimalist I've been seeing lately. I can tell you actually USE and ENJOY all these things. He just shoves ridiculously over the top expensive stuff in your face and calls it minimalism lmao

To be fair, after having the same complaint, I checked his channel and it says he doesn't claim to be minimalist, it's a carry over from supposedly minimalist styled photographs on an older account

It's a butane lighter. They can sit for years without losing fuel.
It's cheap, so I wasn't sure it would work properly
@@maxlvledc Gotcha. Now that you mention it, i wonder if refillable lighters are more prone to leakage than disposables. Seems like the valve could be a weak point.

My least favorite thing about Zippos is filling them with fuel, using it a few times, and then having it be entirely empty in two days. This seems like an awesome way to keep the form factor and cool factor without running out of fuel all-but instantaneously.

They don't really last very long if you use it with any regularity, but for $12 they are worth every penny.

I've seen also sorts of Zippo inserts and never seen this. Totally awesome. I'll have to look into getting one now. My first lighter was this OLD like 40s prolly, brass Zippo that had the original cotton, original extra flint, and everything. I learned a shit ton of tricks with it, various lighting ways, all that sort of stuff. I've loved them since.

Oof, very nice! i've carried a zippo for 35 years. The only downfall when it comes to an original zippo is that the fuel evaporates if left for a few days.
That's why i also carry a gas clipper lighter as well just incase.

There's a chinese manufacturer called Zorro that replicates Zippos on Aliexpress, one of the inserts comes with a metal plate on the bottom in place of the wool insulation for preventing gas leakage. Said plate has a small latch with an o-ring and you can soak the cotton through that. The wick is also covered by a tiny cap which prevents an additional bit of gas leakage.
I first learned about these from the youtube channel Zippo Fanatic 77, they talk about them in a video called fuel efficient inserts.
I have two and top them off every two, two and a half weeks roughly but the best one I've had in my inner jacket pocket lasted 3 weeks sharp before running out. Huge improvement over the traditional design if you want to use fluid.
@@Perckq That's really interesting. I'm amazed Zippo hasn't done the same thing. I love Zippos just because of the oldskool nostalgic factor but i'm amazed they never fixed the fuel evaporation problem.
Has anyone tried playing around with how much material is used for holding the fluid or using any different materials? Maybe replacing the bottom hard pad with more of the fluff cotton and add a gasket? Just random ideas
@@justinc.242 The more packed in the material is the less fluid it holds so it kinda defeats the purpose. I think they just need rubber seals similar to what Pakku above was talking about ^
These are perfect for cigars. I had bought a few of them and theyve been nothing but amazing i was kindof hesitant cause theyre “gimmcky” but theyve been holding up well and its not a gimmick if it serves a useful Purpose

That's a great insert. I have both normal Zippos and a few with butane torch inserts, but I don't like those piezoelectric igniters most torches have. I've been thinking about picking up a Zippo Blu because I thought they were the only Zippo torch that used a flint and wheel.
I repair torches and while there are a few main fail points that are pretty common on your average lower price butane torch, as long as there aren't any of the ridiculously common factory defects, I find the first thing to fail from regular use is usually part of the piezoelectric igniter leading to the button feeling very firm and not clicking when you try to press it.
Years ago I had this gun lighter that had a jet flame when u pull the trigger and a regular flame when u pull back the hammer...forgot all about it until I saw this, went looking for it and found almost $400 I had stashed too! So thanks man 🤑

I have an S.T DuPont lighter (obviously much more expensive) which also has duel mode, it’s designed for cigars and works like a charm.

Damn, I've owned several vector Zippo inserts for jet flames and then bought several of the different official Zippo inserts like the dual jet flame and the rechargeable electric plasma arcs that make an X shaped....but this looks more appealing than all of those. Best of both world's.... always wanted a butane Zippo insert that had a jet flame and a regular flame. Preciate the video🔥

that's a cigar lighter because the torch lightly toasts the tip and perimeter while the big flame is to actually light it I know it doesn't make sense but if u smoke cigars it actually makes sense if ur trying to puff but not burn it.
Much more efficient than the traditional Zippos.

Rad. Have to get one. That's the think I hate about my zippos I have carried for decades. Even it not being used the fuel evaporates. Plus I carry a torch and a regular. This solves so many problems. And Zippo makes it? Looking it up now.

that's cool would anyone looking to buy this make sure you keep your original insert if the lighter is still under warranty. you don't want to have to send it in for repair would an insert in it it isn't Zippo branded as they may deny your claim.

That's pretty neat I guess, but my bic lighter does everything that I need it to, I couldn't really see any point never spending money on something like that.. although somebody did give me a lighter that's the size of and shaped like a 50 bmg caliber bullet.
