Look at everyone in the background. They are practicing footwork. It is amazing to see some boxing school teaching serious footwork and not just handwork and body work. Most boxers today have very clumsy footwork and rely solely on making weight to fight much smaller boxers to win.
I've just taken up boxing. All my classes start with just footwork then we slowly incorporate punches. I agree the footwork is the most important thing. It's really challenging to sync your footwork with punches. Hence why I'm here to practice my double jab
Nobody is practicing footwork in the background. They are doing what looks like a warm up, and it doesn´t look impressive. It actually looks so bad that its maybe just a little cool down. That said I´m a very big fan of The Soviet Boxing Style and this coach.
@@MrSigele Do you know how Muhammad Ali practiced his footwork? He ran BACKWARD everyday. The ONLY guy on this planet who could transition from a defense to an offense position very quickly is Ali. Most people can only escape from an attack by using bodywork. Ali could use BOTH bodywork AND footwork. You need to maintain your balance while running backward. He did not rely on explosiveness like Mike Tyson. He relied on his balance. Ali looked extremely "off balanced" most of the time. And it is very difficult to do it like what Ali did. He could launch a counter attack very easily. If you compare Ali and Prince, you will see some differences. Prince relied heavily on bodywork and less on footwork. But Prince was MUCH lighter and shorter. It was easier for him to do that. Ali was over 6 feet tall. It made it much more difficult to just use his bodywork to swing his body back and forth. Watch Muhammad Ali's daily running routine and try to understand why.
To keep the rear hand covering the face while throwing the jab is a masterfull teaching, i came up with this a long time ago i thought i was the only one doing it because in my gym they teach to keep the gloves close to the face, i honestly prefer to have my lead hand extended ready to jab faster and my rear hand covering my chin with the palm open as the coach said.
I have a feeling that Russians and Ukrainians have some other kind of genetic talent for boxing. Their body movements are generally much smoother than others. Btw. this coach is a legend..

Russians are very classy and skilled boxers from my experience in the ring with them, definitely had some close fights with them and learned from my boughts

If everyone has a boxing coach as great as this we'd all be better boxers. What an amazing teacher for all ages.
Blessed are those who have the opportunity to train in your gym and learn of you
Love the long range attacks from soviet style boxing.
They're snipers, I swear. Those jabs come from kilometers away
