Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts! I know skipping butter might sound surprising, but trust me, this recipe doesn’t miss it. The natural creaminess of the sweet potatoes and the balance of the other ingredients make it rich and flavorful without the need for butter. Sometimes, simplicity wins! (But you can always add butter if you’d like) Let me know if you give it a try-I’d love to hear your feedback!
I've never made a sweet potato pie but always make the sweet potato casserole for Thanksgiving. A family hit! I've ALWAYS baked my sweet potatoes but I always grease my potatoes with solid shortening like my grandmsma and mama did and I line my pan with foul for easy cleanup. I want to try a sweet potato pie. My grandmama ate a slice of sweet potato every day with her main meal. Lived to be 92.
Oh wow! Thanks for sharing this with me. I’m going to try greasy my sweet potatoes with shortening the next time and see how they turn out. I love potato casserole, but I have yet to make that. Maybe I should try that. I think that’s amazing. Your grandma has sweet potato pie every day. Awesome 92 I’ll take that. Thanks for watching Sis! And let me know if you make that pie🙌🏾
I WISH WE COULD POST PIX….. when you said “My God, My God”…..I never would’ve thought of omitting eggs and let me be the first to tell you that you were right. However I did add a half stick of salted butter 🧈. But My Goodness was this creamy and rich ❤❤❤❤❤
Oh! Wow! I am so happy to hear that you enjoyed your pie! I’m telling you there’s something to baking those potatoes. Thanks for sharing Sis! Happy Holidays! 🙌🏾🙌🏾
I love sweet potato everythang! I always roast my sweet potatoes, even when I make my candied yams prior to peeling them. Adding that cream cheese, that must give it that extra little somethin something. TFS!
WOW my specialty but...! I have been seeing this method often, however, a creature of habit (I boil my potatoes with sugar and cinnamon), Yours looks easier! Thank you , Sis! I will try soon! Looks deli!!!
Girl you love your lemon juice don't you.🤔🙆🏽♀️ I'm going to have to try to cream cheese everything else you're doing yes. But I grater fresh nutmeg in mine.😋
Great question I’m glad you asked, since eggs are used in baking primarily as a binding agent. I did not need to add eggs because my potatoes and the cream cheese were thick enough to hold and bind the pie together as a result I didn’t need the eggs. I typically don’t add them to my sweet potato pies Thanks so much for watching.
