Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra - 3 Months Later!

- It's been roughly 3 months since the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra was announced. As a photographer, what differentiates flagships from one another is really the camera system. And since this is the top of the line flagship from Samsung, it should have the best cameras right? Well it's not that simple. Especially since they removed the 10X lens from the S23 Ultra and "upgraded" to a 5X lens this year.
In this video, we will walk through the streets of NYC, visit a food hall, rooftop park, as well as Little Island to put this camera system to the test. There is also a ton of comparison shots against the Pixel 8 Pro as well as social media examples from Snapchat and Instagram. Lastly we will dive into Lightroom to pixel peep at some 10x shots and see how they stack up against the optical lens from the S23 Ultra.

I have a iphone 15 pro my Lil sister needed a phone bad and didn't have money for new iPhone so I gave her my 15 pro and went to best buy and bought me a new s24 ultra Grey titanium and I absolutely love it I was just so bored with apple so I'll be sticking to android im loving the s24 ultra ❤

My mom bought 15 Plus and it's perfect for watching movies. I guess Samsung is far better. I wait for 16 Pro with 5x zoom.

I love my s24 ultra from battery to cameras,screen,apps and all. This phone is just a beast and does everything so dam smooth. Phone doesn't miss a beat at all 😊. Great job, Samsung

Might be just me but I find the forced post processing, colour tone and colour shifts on different camera zoom levels to be absolutely terrible on the camera...
Yeah the phone overall is awesome and smooth, really no lagging whatsoever. Its just the cameras are a bit inconsistent so hopefully they can address that
I own the S21 Ultra 5G. You are right. Samsung needs to do a better job with the camera system on all of their devices. A great video brother. I'm from LA. Great pics of New York.

Just got mines couple of hours ago. Traded in my Note 20 Ultra. My wife had her S24 Ultra, pre-ordered. She traded in her S22 Ultra. Hopefully I like the S24 Ultra. Got 14 days to return it.

Hey man does your phone have the grainy screen issue? Mine is from the most recent batch and the issue is still visible even though its less noticeable compared to the first batch
Maybe a tiny bit but not that noticable. However it does seem like the display is more dull on home screen and UI screens vs s23ultra. Media playback looks fine though

While I understand your point for 10x, how often do you use it? I tend to use 5X way more frequently than 10X.
I agree 5x is more usable in day to day but usually the 3x is able to take care of it. On that note I wish the 3x was improved too haha but 10x can go to 20x or 30x without a ton of degradation but now that it's only 5x optical, going to 20x is a stretch

Unbiased review.. I was about to buy s24 ultra in a few days but now I would rather wait and see if there are improvements.. not sure if its a hardware problem or software problem that the photos are so inconsistent.. in case its a hardware problem, its wasted. Btw I have liked and subscribed.. good work
Appreciate the support! It's def a software processing issue because the hardware is quite good. It can produce really stunning photos, just not every time. So definitely can be improved with updates

If I can get my hands on one to test out for a few days I def will, but I can't purchase one right now it's just too expensive. Still a small youtuber trying to grow but one day I'm sure!

There is no s25 ultra yet
S24ultra just came out so you will have to wait quite a while for the s25 and who knows what that will look like. If u can get a good deal or sale on s24u maybe it is worth it!

You should review the Xiaomi 14 Ultra or Vivo X100 Pro.
They are extreme contenders in the camera category.
They have global variants which also suits your target audience.
Sounds like some of your keen subscribers could get together and send you phones for review, accelerate your channel growth!
the thing that absolutely i don't like about s24 is the auto correct processing in the 50mp and 200.
There is definitely some heavy processing going on. Try it in pro mode or expert raw?

How does it compare to the S23 Ultra?
Towards the end I have comparisons of the 5x zoom vs 10x zoom of the s23u. The main sensor and 3x lens are very similar just slight processing differences

After my use of the s24u after the last month of owning it I feeling like the 10x digital crop in is still far from great honestly and the overall optimization on the 5x is still pretty bad in my opinion. What I rate the camera experience is inconsistent with a lot of room for improvement

@azvisuals I agree with you especially the main tech folks for lack of a better term. I feel samsung does this more often than not - every year half baked camera experience until the next iteration and then we end up talking about the new device and repeat. I like the s24u but not a fan boy to say it's the best camera experience
Yeah I feel like the s23u one year later has a really solid camera experience. Better than when it first came out. So hoping the S24u will follow that trend

Which settings would you like to know? Most of these were shot in auto mode with manual adjustments of the exposure slider
I think they removed the 10x is because shots between the 3x and 10x are quite bad and those are the ones where most photos are snapped. I am not a pro but just giving out my thoughts. I have a s22u and the 10x is indeed great but the s24u 10x is not really far behind it due to the doubled mpx I guess. Anything snapped between the 3x and 9x then S24U is the king because of the 5x lens.
I agree that's solid reasoning. But the execution should have been to improve the 3x not remove the 10x imo
I am using this phone for 3 months, came from the s21 ultra... and i am disappointed, the photos taken with it are almost always to bright...
I agree it seems like since the s23 Samsung have skewed towards brighter photos. I find myself manually adjusting the exposure slider down for nearly every shot especially at night
as an owner of both 23u & 24u ,, with majority of photos taken between the range of 1x to 10x ,, i confirm the s24u is better specially at night ,, the s23u suffers much at mid range zoom say 6 or 7 or 8x while the 24u is truely much much better ,, not to say the over sharpness on the 23u photos that might appeal to some people but I always found myself desharpn the 23u photos specially with tree branches and so on.,, one last detail is the shutter speed , its faster on the 24u ,, always double the speed, most of 23u is about 1/25 seconds at night while the 24u is 1/100 or 1/60 at the slowest that makes the photos with less motion blur.
Good point, the quality between 3x and 10x is lacking on the s23U. But after 10x do you find the S24u to be better still?

The introduction is not accurate. It is not only about the cameras, but also the software. For instance, Hyper OS is lagging far behind One UI.
Software plays a huge role as well I agree, but with android you can customize so much of it that it doesn't become as much of an issue. Cameras you can't really change for example, whatever they put on the phone is what you are stuck with!
Up-to-date screen & features are Best then my Samsung Galaxy ZFold3 it was a Great smart phone invention but the inside screen is a Malfunction failure I had to give it up because of it too much money to use for insurance to replace this device every time it goes bad so i did the trade in for this Samsung S24 ultra its seems to be better so far no problems but will see how this device does.

Yes if yoir a movie director or pro photographer. But ave Joe like me. If this can be linked on web @ Mt. Everest or bottom ocean depths of Guam Pacific ocean. Because 4 me if it's possible 2 🐝 life saving linking of web. Because life is more important than stupid useless photo bangs and movie shoot or sound quality.

Usually use s24u too, i’m never use 12mp take a photo.. just basically setup 50mp and sometimes 200mp cause look betters then 12mp..
maybe next you try make a review for 50mp and 200mp then get a result of the photo.. colors, hrd, brightness and everything better than 12mp..
Good point. I actually did shoot some but I forgot to put into the video it was getting too long already. But I think 50mx is the sweet spot!
The 200mp and 50mp pictures are ruined by the post processing what do you say ?
I am burned out on my S24u.
The camera post-processes everything whether it be in low/medium/bright enviroments.
50-100mp lense crushes the detail. 12mp isn't details and looks flat.
Super HDR enhance turned off in Gallary - Check
Intellegent Optimization turned off in Camera settings - Check
Auto HDR in Camera settings on and off(no Change) - Check
Slightly moving objects are a blur
Skin tone is crushed to an ugly yellow tint
200mp close up and in focus post-processes to this strange x grid-like filter
a sunny day is ungodly overexsposed. Yellow color is just white. actually any bright color turns white. Can't a phone auto set exposure for the best photo? This isn't a new feature. I shouldn't have to adjust exposure for every shot when there's an auto mode...
This phone is so inconsistent that it's a joke. It's a bad user experience. Why must someone have to think so much in order to set up a mere photo? And even when you think you got it, it is unpredictably bad quality.
I have used Iphone for 2 years and switched back to an android because of all the promises(unfullfilled) by Samsung. 99% of the quality camera issues I have on my S24u werent even questionable on an Iphone. I hate how we had to compromise good camera lenses for terrible software on the S24u. I will never buy a samsung again.
Posting about the camera issue gets scrubbed off of reddit. Their subreddit praises the phone. Paid Samsung mods. At least google search and UA-cam show the true issues along with nich forums.
Yeah the inconsistenty is really annoying. It's more than capable of delivery great images but only at certain times
Whats wrong with samsung, its like playing with consumers.. man this s24 ultra sucks! Photos looks like a mid range phone, zoom is a joke. And colors are all washout like c'mon man... im switching to 15 pro amx after 2month of use of this garbage samsung brand. Samsung always better on one category and that is appliances😊

I think they just need some time to work out the kinks. Most of these processing issues can def be fixed via software updates

I wannted to swith from S23U, but no.
I did it, and the decision proved to be an excellent one overall.
I would say hold off for now unless there's a really good trade in deal or some sale. Not really worth the upgrade in my opinion.
