Excellent video showing how to R&R the front wheel bearings on a PT cruiser. If have found these bearings usually fail around the 80-100k miles (some sooner). One note to the excellent video ... Don't use off brand bearings when performing this job or you will just find yourself repeating the exercise in only a few k miles. Further, if one bearing is bad, its a good bet the other one will fail very soon, so better to replace them both at one time.

Really like the clean smooth work. Very informative. Troubleshooting sounds exactly like my problem. Yours made noise on right turn. Noticed you didn't try a left turn. You changed the drivers side bearing. My PT makes the noise on a left turn mainly, sounds better on right turn, so wondering if that points me to the passenger side bearing. I also heard another video mention the passenger side was the drive side and bearing wore out sooner. Not sure yet if that is right.

fantastic video for explanation. My CV axles and ball joints never come apart so easily though... Northern living!

Great video, very informative. However, my question is, why do you apply lock-tight to a nut that has a mechanical lock...the axle nut?

Thank you I had the exact same thing happen to me then the knuckle broke too! Uhhhggg! Sounded like a plane taking off! Noise was there going straight turned to the right no noise! I was growling i thought it was a hole in the exhaust!!! Ended up replacing the whole hub assembly and the knuckle!

I just pressed out my 2001 pt cruiser wheel bearing. with hub out i found 2 bearing retainer flanges on the one (driver) side.
Do you think that happened at the factory in Mexico? Should I toss one?

Make sure the ground wire is connected from the frame to the strut
as sparks are created by static which ruins the bearing..Same check the Hood Ground.

My new hub assembly came with a snap ring. I don't think the original has one. I haven't seen it addressed on any videos.

What bearing drivers did you use to remove and install the wheel bearing is there a kit? Would like to buy one for our shop.

Wheelin - We used a Ken Tool Hub Shark part# 7326. It has many pieces not all are pictured in the video, but that should do the trick!
