Every year Niche.com releases a Best Suburbs to Live in every state. In this video I'll bring that list to the small screen with Best Suburbs to Live in Northern Virginia. This list by Niche.com is for the whole state of Virginia but we will focus only on the suburbs in Northern Virginia that are in the top 10. I'll share with you my opinion on all of the suburbs on this list. All of the suburbs on this list will have a different feel and vibe but all are great places to live.

Plenty of people over 35 live in Arlington! They may not want to live above the nightlife scene in Arlington but there are other neighborhoods still proximate to our 11 Metro stations. I would say that traffic in Arlington isn’t any worse than surrounding counties, but it’s really the traffic TO and FROM Arlington that is bad!

Niche lists are always odd, but I feel like Fairfax County didn’t get enough love here. Franklin Farm isn’t even top 10 in the county IMO. Waynewood/Fort Hunt is super underrated. If you like the idea of family friendly suburbs but prefer an older, tree-lined neighborhood to the clean newness of Loudoun County, then Fort Hunt is the place to be.

How could that list not include Great Falls, McLean, Falls Church and Vienna? I know Vienna was named a top 10 town in all of the US recently. I personally like Lake Barcroft in Falls Church.

I hear you. This was Niche.coms list and one of their biggest factors they use to make this list is cost of living. So I can see why Great Falls and Mclean didn't make the list as they are ranked #1 and #2 as the most expensive towns in Virginia.

Is there anything close to dc with good schools between 400-500k that's not a condo or apartment?How close to DC would that much get us? Townhomes we are fine with but house preferably just trying to figure out where that would land us and where would be best to look

Your best bet is Burke, Springfield and Alexandria. It's definitely going to be a townhouse unless you find a single family home that's a complete fixer upper.

Depends what kind of community you want to live in, which he can't talk demographics details about (but I can).
Single families...not great choices at under 500k: Couple single families in bad Sterling under 500k, Manassas/Woodbridge (not great areas) but you're also looking at Maryland across potomac/East DC areas for 500k. Maryland isn't great.
But my neighbor in Stoneridge just sold a medium size (1600sqft?) townhouse for 450k in a very amazing community. David did a video on Westridge.
All the top neighborhoods in Loudoun county around Dulles I noticed are very south asian/Indian heavy population. Most likely due to the data centers/culture.
I want to see David do a video soon on Gainesville/Bristow/Purcellville/Middleburg/Haymarket.

I don’t get it, live in nova and every house looks the same and terrible. Looks like someone hit the copy and paste button on every home and a million each, wild. Whatever your into ig cool place to grow up but feels almost metaverse dystopian creepy in my opinion. No soul. Good video tho.
