Fascinating! Especially the conclusion re; maintaining a 'slither' of connection to those with whom a client would otherwise cut off, emotionally. My 'slither', albeit posthumously, was to learn about my dad's childhood experiences from 'differentiated' family members who knew of his history. That way I was able to make meaning out of his domestic violence without blaming my childhood self and thereby developing my own ability to differentiate and self-soothe. Anyway, thank you again and I'll take a lot of this stuff forward in my social care work. Greetings from the UK.
