I got a 2019 f250 6.7 with 46k miles, truck is stock. Got a p0401 code, low egr flow today. Took it to the dealer and tech confirmed the code. Dealer cant get to it for a few days. I asked if it would hurt to run it until then, he said no. I plow snow and guess what, snowstorm coming tomorrow. Truck runs great. Just wanted to make sure it would be ok to run with this code for a couple days? No other codes present.
I have 2001 Saturn SL2. On cold start it is 1.0 - 1.1 kRPM, pretty much what you have after the cleaning. The car drives well, but code P0401 comes, like after 30 mi. The scanner says: clean EGR passages. I replaced EGR, then removed it about 2 times for cleaning, not much there. I also cleaned Throttle Body, replaced TPS sensor. After driving RPM goes down to 800. Sometimes P0401 code comes in combination w/ P0037, and I replaced the Down stream O2 sensor about 2 years ago (OEM). I would appreciate any opinion on this matter. Thank you for the great film.
O - Thanks for the feedback! Sounds like you've done a lot of the things we would think. We do have a video on losing power that we think might be helpful here: ua-cam.com/video/ipjYLPJgpq8/v-deo.html
@@8020Media I watched the film you recommend. It is really great film, but everything what he points in I've replaced on Saturn already (it has new Fuel Pump, Fuel Injectors, Ignition Coils, Fuel Filter, all the sensors around the Throttle Body). I suspect now Power Brake Booster, but can't check it since removed Throttle Body and many other parts, trying to get to the Intake Manifold. I think to remove it and clean well, especially EGR Valve passages there. But yes, Booster could be a problem, it was never replaced (137kmi). Pls could you tell if you can cut a new Booster Vacuum Hose fm/ just a piece of hose w/corresponding diameter and properties? I can't find a new hose for that car, they are discontinued. And that hose is old, it might be leaking, it would be so much better to replace it. Thank you very much for the attention to my problem, especially for the hint on Booster, I've never thought it can cause P0401.
I have a 2003 buick park avenue. Got a new EGR valve, new pcv valve, new MAP sensor, cleaned the throttle body. I'm not sure what else to do. i'm stumped.
Hi, and thank you so much for all your great info. Ok, so I have a 2006 lincoln town car and I got a p0401 code that said Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Insufficient Detected. At some speeds, I have to press the gas pedal more down to get it to go. And other times it's perfectly fine. Any thought? 🙏 Update 05/18/2024. So turned out my rgv valve was junk and also wasn't original. It came out of a junk yard.... 😆 But found out my positive batter terminal was loose and some of the wires weren't crimpt together right. Fix that and all is good now..
@8020Media thank you. Yea, I took it to my shop. I always go to.. and the first thing he tells me is no, it's not the egr valve. That they rarely ever go out on 4.6 2v. He said it was going to be something to do with the exhaust manifold. So, I dropped it off to get checked out. Turns out I was right it was a bad egr. But, he showed me the old one he took off. And said yea, your egr valve was junk, it was from a junk yard. And pointed out where there was wrighting on it.

Some things are not of one sentence answer. He covers the basis for everyone to be able to fix the issue or get pointed in the next direction you need to go.
Thanks. Will check dpfe next. My engine is shaking, shuddering with idle, weak acceleration, sputtering out the tail pipe. Smells sooty!

Mike - If it just popped up not too long ago, then you should be good for a little bit. But certainly don't put it off.
Gas engines have used egr since the early 1970’s They still use them as the EPA allows more NOx than non EGR engines
Mitch - Correct.

@@8020Media Thank you. I never thought that higher RPM are reflecting losing power. It is good to know. Thanks for the reference as well.

My engine has no symptoms but getting this code and I asked local machanic to clean the Egr system the code came back again recent. 😅
A - Did you try other things mentioned in the video?
Hi 2005 model Chevrolet kalos 1.4 16 v
İ have a 0401 engine codes
Egr clean and works it but still 0401 code
May be map sensor?😢
B - Could be!
@@8020Media im use torque obd scanner

I’d say he’s just throughly explaining the code which is what I was looking for
