Until there's a better solution??? You mean like turning your police lights on?! Maybe getting in front of them with their lights on and blocking them from continuing forward?
@@travisritzman6772 Who said anything about having law enforcement drive the wrong way? (They of course do that all the time anyway, but that's beside the point.) All I'm saying is that in every situation where you can ram somebody who is going the wrong way you can also choose to simply block them and let them put the brakes on. At the very least you can let them hit you, but actively ramming into them is ridiculous. Right? If I'm missing something here please enlighten me.
so the state recorded about 30 deaths from wrong way drivers, but only one killed by the police attempting to stop them. Sounds like the police are doing the right thing in trying to prevent further injuries and death...
That doesn't really give you enough information to make that determination. You're missing context. 30 deaths from how many wrong way drivers? If it's 30 deaths from 1000 wrong way drivers, then 1 death in 12 rammings is a way higher rate of fatalities.

Law enforcement is taking one for the team to save lives, and this news report is critical of that ? * SMH *
The idiot in the truck with front-end damage (which means he's running from another accident that he caused) and pulling the U-haul trailer is the problem, not the cop. Dude needs a decade in jail to get himself centered.
Driving the wrong way is an act which puts other lives in grave danger. It is a deadly force situation through and through, and you will never find an officer who says ramming wrong way vehicles is not justified.
This is the worst story you have ever run. Without the troopers making the hit, others would die. There is NO question whether or not police should be able to stop a wrong way driver with their own vehicle.
Uh huh. And the guy who was clearly pulling over and was completely off the road, and the cop still rammed him anyways? There's no question that someone else would have died if the cop hadn't veered off the road to hit that guy?
What ‘Policy”? It is a technique that is used as a last resort to stop the person from harming others. You know, ‘To Protect and To Serve.’ Additionally, a reasonable driver who’s made a mistake and is slowing down would be slowing to a STOP, not to maneuver to get around the invisible cop car with high beams, flashing lights and sirens blaring. Those driving under the influence, having a ‘medical episode’ or ‘emotional episode’ etc. aren’t a ‘reasonable’ driver.
Seriously. A reasonable, aware person is going to slam on the brakes and stop before getting anywhere close to a cop car pointing at them with flashing lights. None of the people here even came close to that.
Thanks to the Highway Patrol for trying and most of all risking their own lives to keep the Public Safety first. I'm sick of these ambulance chasing attorneys trying to make a fast buck by going after the Law enforcement people.
So deadly force for a misdemeanor is the solution..............a real patriot would want the constitution upheld. Remember our constitution forbids cruel and unusual punishment. So unless you want all misdemeanors met with deadly force this is unusual

Ridiculous reporting.... how sbout lets investigate what causes people to be so easily confused, and why they keep driving, even though there is a emergency vehicle blocking their path. Maybe you could report and interview people on how to implement better controls on how someone so eadily confused can obtain, or retain a drivers license. From my experience of extricating lifeless bodies out of wrecked vehocles due to wrong way drivers, I applaud their tactics, and putting themselves in harms way to protect the innocent public.
🕵🏻♂️ My question is if there cherries & berries were on the optimal setting for a Vehicle coming towards them, being able to tell that they were a cop ? I think the old just, flashing red & blue might be better in that type of Circumstance. I hear in states that have those bump things in the middle of the road that light up white in the dark, actually light up red, if you are going in the wrong direction. 🤔 I think if we have such a problem with this in this state; maybe we should on the back of our "One Way" signs: Have on them, an very eye catching message of... ☠️🔥⚠️🚫STOP! YOUR GOING THE WRONG WAY!🚫⚠️🔥☠️ Maybe it won't help, but don't knock it, tell you try it.
I think Utah needs to invest in its infrastructure more. I was driving and accidentally went on the wrong side of the road and the car behind me did too. It was pitch black with no signs or lights to guide us. It was a pretty scary ordeal. I don’t drink so I wasn’t driving under the influence either. It’s wild that if a cop car would have seen me he could have killed me. Luckily nobody got hurt.
Why don’t they travel the same direction match speeds, and then use their back bumper to slow the car to a stop. If these aren’t happening as a result of a high speed chase surely these officers could get into a position to do this, or at the absolute worse case scenario stop in the path of the offending car just to lessen the collision. The way they are doing it seems needlessly reckless to officers and citizens.
I would’ve been interested in knowing how much paid leave each officer received after the head on crash. Most of us work 12 months for 40 hours of PTO. Hit a wrong way driver get 80000 hours of PTO ?
There's your problem. Giving a liberal university professor or activist a platform to have an opinion disguised as fact is equal to giving a goat the same platform. This country has suffered under this way of thinking to the point that it is now irrelevant and obsolete. Protect the few or one while endangering the many no longer stands.
I think something needs to be done by the government that people who drink alcohol can't have a driver's license or a vehicle evere because they drink alcohol 🤔 and after the age of 40 years old should have a medical clearance from a doctor every year to have a driver's license and a vehicle 🤔
"Until there’s a better solution, at least the police are doing something..." Actually, there's already an easier and better solution. The tech already exists so it's an easy fix to make sure people don't get very far driving the wrong way up an off ramp. We know where they have to drive to get on the freeway/highway, that's where you fix it.
lets go over the reasons why this tactic is wrong: 1. you have people with medical emergencies and confused elderly drivers on the road 2. you have cops ramming them, applying excessive force and costing the taxpayers money on replacement vehicles, repairs and medical injuries. 3. all of this excessive force is a lawsuit bound to happen if the rest of the commenters understood everything about the video and why they are concerned they would come to similar conclusions and be like "is this a proper use of my taxpayers dollars?" especially since cops are not being trained properly in todays world and are not held to a much higher standard as of late.
Until there’s a better solution, at least the police are doing something to stop a wrong way driver.
