Cute little engine. Spent 2 years working with the Alco 251 engines in the US Navy. 6 V16 C models for propulsion and 3 V8 B models for gensets per ship. 9 inch bore and 10.5 inch stroke. That was back in the 1980s and those ships are no longer in service with the US Navy. The big crawler transporter that moved the Space Shuttle to the launch pad has 2 of the V16 251C engines.
Those engines sound cute. I work on 6,000,000 cubic inch hemi's that pull snowmobiles the size of Florida across Antarctica 60 human lives were sacrificed for each piston to make it to production and another 12 for assembly the jets used in the carborator were the size of 50 gallon oil drums. Had to have two pound testicles to even look Upon it 💪🫡
Good engines. Had two 3616's in the #2 hold of the USNS Observation Island driving big Jacuzzi pumps as APU's.

Diesel but they can run on both if configured that way or just natural gas.
