    Talking you through the setup of a Sterling B2B or Sterling DC-DC charger, these chargers can be used on any van conversion regardless of the vehicles age, the older split charge 'VSR charger' should not be used on van conversions with a smart alternator.
    Apologies, tongue slip in this video 16mm cable is rated to 110amps not 175amps!
    In this video I am unboxing a sterling battery to battery or dc to dc charger this is the 60 amp unit but you can also get a 30 amp sterling battery to battery charger as well as a CTEK battery to battery charger, dc to dc charger and battery to battery chargers are the same, the difference seems to be between North American terminology and English.
    I have chosen to install the 60amp unit which can be found here, this unit will recharge my battery bank in under 3 hours, I have chosen this unit due to the lack of solar power in the UK during the winter months.

    Thank you. great video. Very informative. I plan to run my cables from the van battery (passenger footwell) to the leisure batteries (rear of van) inside the van but under the insulated floor ( it’s a 2022 LWB Sprinter). What do you think? Obviously I’m not planning to put a screw through the cables and will mark the route on the plywood floor for anyone else to see after I sell it on.

    Hi how do I set the b2b charger up with the settings please. I have 2 sterling leisure battery.. also if it isn't set up properly would it cause the whole of the electrics on the van to shut down. Many thanks. 1st conversion

    Very good video. How did you size the fuses?

    • @Aboutavan
      @Aboutavan  3 роки тому

      I would size slightly up, so for a 30a unit I'd use a 40 amp fuse and for a 60a 70amp fuse the cable is rated much higher than this, this is just to allow for a slight surge on start up for most fusing on lights, chargers etc I would allow 1.5x the amp rating for the fuse but they're generally much smaller loads :-)

    Tip- put handle of crimper in a vice, lots easier.

      Great tip! If you have a vice 😜 I've been using a hydraulic version this week and its much easier

    Hi,
    I found diagram on the website and it's showing that minus cable going from car battery not from the leisure one and all so both batteries leisure and car battery are connected by minus cable. Hmm...
    I'm confused now... :)
    Is it everything working fine in your van?
    I heard that if you connected to chassis the efficient of charging is going down...
    Very good movie. Thanks

      Hey Pawel, the Sterling model only has space for one earth, I did not want to run it all the way back to the starter battery so I earthed it on the chassis, I have had no issues and get a good output from the B2B charger.

    Hello, what is the cable size recommended by the manufacture for the 60 amp model? Thank you

    • @Aboutavan
      @Aboutavan  3 роки тому +1

      16mm² for a cable run under 5m I believe.

    Would a smaller pair of ratchet crimping pliers do the the same job?

    • @Aboutavan
      @Aboutavan  3 роки тому

      Possibly depending on which ones you have but I doubt it they're usually for the smaller red, yellow and blue terminal ends :)
