It's normal; it's called the nasal cycle where everyone breathes predominantly out of one side of the nose and it alternates through the day.

I have a nasal polyps in on one side of the cavity. Over time, this has led to 70% loss of smell, and post nasal drip. It has affected my ability to breathe and sleep efficiently and to interrupt my ability to sing effectively due to continuous mucous drips in the back of the throat. In my 60's I developed sleep apnea and when tested discovered I was breathing 20% less oxygen than required. The doctor commented that patients with nasal blockage problems and erratic blood pressure should enquire about an oxygen intake test because a deprivation of oxygen can be a symptom of fluctuating systolic/dystolic. A "pressured" oxygen supply using a CPAP machine when sleeping has significantly restored my mental acuity and physical condition, including improved blood pressure . I was surprised how effective it was. However, the post nasal drip persists. I've been informed that even if I have surgery to remove the polyps, there is a good chance it will return. The polyps are usually identified by a telescopic probe of the sinus cavity and perhaps followed up by a CATscan or MRI. Hoping my experience will help people with the same condition.

There are a few ideas to try
buy a saline rinse - this is a great way to keep your nose healthy
cook with chili peppers - these contain capsaicin that can reduce nose polyps naturally.
Use Tea Tree Oil - dilute first then swab the polyps with it - this can reduce polpys and reduce symptoms.
Eat more food high in anioxidants - broccoli, citrus fruits etc - these can reduce nose polyps naturally.

I had really bad nasal polyps nearly coming out of my nose with constant gagging nasal drip (20 handkerchiefs a night) for six years. IT IS DIET. I GOT RID OF MY POLYPS. I did this by eating pure uncooked fruit and smoothies 4-6 pints a day for six months. As soon as I regress to just one sandwich, one bit of milk in coffee, one handful of nuts, anything that you can't easily find in nature and the inflammation comes back. Just two weeks of reverting back to a normal western food and the polyps start growing again. This is as predictable as musical chairs. (I keep experimenting with what normal things I can eat but so far anything but raw salads brings them back). I have a slight blockage at the top of my nose which goes if I stay true to the natural diet for three weeks in a row. It's not so much the fruit but what you don't eat ie all the prepared foods go out. Fat especially cooked oils even olive oil and nuts seriously aggravate the condition. As do grains, dairy and cheese. The nasal drip went first and I guess it took 6 months for the polyps to go the first time with quite a bit of collateral weight loss. When I revert to normal foods, it takes 3 weeks of pure fruit to get them to go down again - that's a long time and few people can keep to this The absolute joy of being able to smell again is indescribable - there is a different smell every few paces you take. This might work with just eating raw salads (minus avocados). When I went off the steroids the polyps got much worse for six months. Operating will just give scar tissue so the skin so the mucus can't build up to create a polyp - the mucus will build up elsewhere - ie surgery/steroids are not dealing with the actual problem. For me it was DIET - what I was putting in my body - just quite an extreme restrictive diet. I am hoping that I will be able to revert partially back one day but for now I am just happy to breathe through my nose and smell again. Incredibly happy. It is possible.

i agree completely. i have no idea if i have nasal polyps but i feel like i do. i haven’t gone to a doctor about it because they will just try to recommend drugs and surgery. i went mostly raw whole-food plant-based 8 months ago and it has helped tremendously. i live super close to a sugar cane processing plant so there are a lot of allergens, dust, ash, etc. here. i moved here about 2 years ago and never had these problems until 2 years ago. it’s either polyps or allergies. or both. i don’t know.. probably just allergies. who knows. but i know changing my lifestyle has helped!

Now my heart started to pain , I think due to lack of oxygen in blood. 24 year old and having heart problems.sad. Now I am starting to use homoeopathic medicine for my polyps. Hope it works. Been 2 days , I have started seeing some results.

I get weird ammonia type smells all the time , and it messes with my taste aswell. If I blow my nose it just makes it worse , can’t wait to solve this issue

I have stripped my diet down to only fruits, nuts, veggies, seafood and organic chicken absolutely nothing else. I noticed a significant difference in my congestion then maybe after a six months of that the congestion resumed but not as aggressive as it was before. I then got an air purifier for. my apartment and I noticed again the congestion is at bay and I am able to sleep without the use of steroid sprays. I must add that I do have cats at home so maybe that is a contributing factor of the reoccurrence.
I noticed no difference in the size of my polyps they are marginally bigger than I can recall but I cant say when that happened (I thought that those were just normal nose balls - lmao). My point is they have not disappeared with my lifestyle changes. I suppose surgery it is...😏

I've suffered with polyps for years, along with allergies and asthma, your nose is constantly dripping, it's the worst at night. I found what helped me 100 % is to take a shower as hot as I can take, then do a salt blast rinse, the bottle kind, so you can give yourself a good blast. I found the salt has helped with the allergies and asthma hugely as well. What others say is that the salt is a natural antiseptic, it reduces swelling, suppose to help detox. I also made a simple salt pipe and breath the salt particles through my mouth, out the nose.
I tried the meds, none of that worked, then the surgery, which took care of the problem, but it came back after 2 years.
Try it out guys, you can one at the pharmacy with salt packs for like $13 ....
Apparently people who live by the ocean, or work in salt mines never have sinus problems, I'm a believer now !!!!!

I have them going on three months. I live in Thailand where the people call them nose hemorrhoids.
Pretty funny huh? I've got holistic meds being delivered tomorrow. Hope it works.

i think i have this but there is no way anyone is sticking anything up my nose while im awake to know about it again!, i went to see an ENT doctor once and he did it and i think he was trying to view my brain, it actually hurt, had to stop him.

I'm panicking because I'm looking up what I have and it keeps coming out that it might be cancer I started getting like something stuck in my throat and behind my nose I can't spit it out or swallow it I got it after I was sick last year and I still have it went to the doctor she said I might have allergies because the inside of my nose was red now I need to go to an ent next week idk how to make it go away😭😭

Don’t worry, the feeling in the back of your throat is just post nasal drip and it’s completely normal when suffering from a sinus infection, cold/virus or nasal polyps. It won’t be cancer. Extremely highly unlikely anyway. But if it doesn’t go away after a few weeks then see your doctor. Until then relax 🙂
