I just thought of a use for exactly this feature in OBS and was thinking I might have to program one myself. This is great! It is exactly what I was envisioning. Thank you for taking the time to code and release it.
It isn't working for what I am trying, but I am guessing it is the model. Can I place a training model in C:\Program Files\obs-studio\data\obs-plugins\obs-ocr\tessdata and expect it too work?? Thanks!

The plugin works quite well! sometimes it drops a character, or outputs an incorrect figure. I am using it to capture a scoreboard within a video game, and it would be nice if it was a little more consistent. Im not sure why but it seems to struggle with 1:59-1:00 the most, producing lots of whacky results even though all the other time ranges seem to work almost perfect.

I have a similar problem with Boris who wrote before, I stream basketball using OBS and currently using Overstream Studio and Game Master for aesthetics and score-keeping. I work with a Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 with an i5-12450H @ 2.00 GHz CPU, GeForce RTX 3050 GPU and 16 GB RAM, which is brand-new, I used briefly Scoreboard OCR on its demo period and worked fine, on this plugin so far I've managed to correctly identify the scores and the fouls but the time does not appear right, I only get like a "23" when showing 14:15 on the clock, now I don't know if on the stadium scoreboard sometimes on the ":" appears a third dot inbetween when the time stops and messes things up. Also for a future suggestion and if possible, if you want to recognize a number as the current period, the output should return something like "1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th", etc. But your plugin has some fantastic potential and I'm excited for the upcoming updates, definitely looking forward using this!

This ocr is a game changer!
Really like what you did here. I'm trying to use it to recognize a text box on a magic the gathering card. I cannot get it to work. The text keeps adjusting or not change when we the card is replaced.
Is there a way to define the zone the filter looks at on the source?
yes there are several ways but the simplest one is to add a crop/pad filter before (above) the OCR filter
@@royshilkthanks, I figured out to clone the source and hide behind the main camera. The issues is that it might the formating of the cards. The text just keeps changing with even if I change the intervals etc. Do you have a fix? Maybe make a short video. There a quite a few trading card players which will love you for getting this to work.
I could really use something similar to this for work. but I'd need to copy the data to an already existing excel sheet and compare it. I really don't know if that's even possible lol.
i do have the option to save to file and even aggregate multiple lines - you can import that to excel in a second

Yes of course any OBS source that has an image. Text source, image source, browser, screen capture, camera - anything.
I have a problem, i can't seem to find the option "User-defined shader" in the effect filters, neither for a picture or a text. Can you help me ?

I tried it following your instructions accurately but can not (yet) get it working.
Do I need to change something in the properties of the Text-source? Manual/Read from file, which file?
I just want to catch text from a pc-app but that text is displayed small and therefor very lo-res,
so would be nice to have it in a hi-res font of choice using your plugin.

Thanks for trying out the plugin! it can definitely help with that. I think the best way for you is to get a Screen Capture source, then apply Crop/Pad filter and trim it down to just the text you want to read, then add OCR Filter. In the OCR filter you can specify an output Text Source - so just create one in your scene and point the OCR filter to it.

I'm very interested in this software and I will try it out when I get the chance. I have a question. I livestream sports and occasionally the scoreboards lose power or signal and go blank. In that event, will the software retain the information or will all information go blank until the scoreboard comes back online? Cheers
If you select to ignore empty values then the last value will be retained. I recommend to try our scoresight.live for scoreboards

Thank you for your great work! No fonts are shown to me under “Output Text Source”. There is only the entry "Safe to file". What am I doing wrong?
Add a text source to your scene. Then it will appear in the drop down

in a way yes. you can use the OCR to read Japanese and then e.g. Polyglot or URL/API Source for translation

I've installed the plugin dozens of times. Doesn't show up in OBS.

I figured out why- it was automatically installing to Steam Common directory? Not any fault of the plugin as far as I can tell.
HI I installed it and managed to test it with video source in OBS. One timer for 5 minutes in format mm:ss. It works but not smoothly - not recognize all caracters - let's say timer says 2:23, and OCR output says 23 - withous minutes. Tried different settings for OCR filter - the same. I have HP Zbook with Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E3-1505M v5 @ 2.80GHz 2.81 GHz, with 24 GB of RAM. I stream handball games and currently working with Telescore scoreboard. It would be very nice just to be able to OCR time from hall's scoreboard.
