As a person rediscovering knitting after decades, I’m so appreciative of the many UA-cam instructional videos. Now, when I need to look up or review a stitch, I find that I’m on the lookout for videos from VeryPink Knits! Thanks so much for clear and concise language, helpful tips like this one, and excellent filming.
Oh my Goddess, I just tried this technique for binding off with one stitch left & I don’t know how I never learned this before. I have been knitting for a long time & no one has ever taught this to me!! I just love all your videos. Thank you.🧶👏👏
oh wow! what a simple but awesome trick! I am sure this is something we all see when we bind-off and never thought much about. Now we will all have tidy BO at the end! Thank you Staci!
Yes, I'm slapping my forehead right now, wondering why I didn't think of that, thanks so much for all the helpful tips you give us. Appreciate them all so much!
The reason I clicked on this was because I heard you giving advice to someone on your audio podcast, about just taking the yarn through the last loop. I used to do that and I thought NO! You'll end up with a lump! Now I get it!I have been using a technique where you sew into another stitch before going through the last loop. But this way looks much more reliable! I'll be doing it your way!!
I'm slapping my forehead, (and I could have had a V-8 with it)! I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your videos. Thank you so much for the education on knitting.
Wow ! Best trick.. I'm fan of yours.. Just have 1 suggestion as need to see subtitles while watching.. bcoz of subtitles I can't see your work completely.. so please try to position your hands in middle of the screen.. so it will be easy for others like me too..
Yes, different technique - here's my trick for that, this technique gives you a topline with no break in the look of the BO stitches: ua-cam.com/video/7h9SC9KSUfg/v-deo.html

What is your suggestion for in the round? Especially in reference to toe up socks. Great tutorial!! Absolutely an easy fix for a problem I think we’ve all had.

Great video! I have a question. After finishing increases for toe up socks, it's time to knit the foot. I've noticed I get pointy "corners" on each side where I've begun the foot. Is there a technique to avoid these "corners?"
A decrease reduces your number of stitches (usually by one stitch), and is a way to shape our knitting. A bind-off is a way of finishing and closing up the loops in knitting, usually done at the end of your project.

Also, do you know what a '2 stitch picot bind-off' would be? My pattern 'Lotus baby blanket' has a modification for a girl-ier edge but it just says to use the 2 stitch picot bind-off, but no instructions on how to *do* said bind off :/ and the author isn't responding.
Normally I do not knit the last stitch, I just slip it and than bind off.....that is also a way but this is even better! There seems to be another way. Kind off thinking ahead: you have to do some sort of trick in the row below, so that must be in the first stitch of the purl row, that will be the last stitch of the bind off row, but I don't know what that trick is. Maybe you know this??
We're using the first stitch of the previous row in this trick - but it doesn't really have much to do with that stitch, it just happens to be there. :) The result of the technique is to pull the last stitch down "into" the work, replicating what you would see if the last stitch was leading into a "next" stitch.
The 'trick' you show works really great! I will ask the knitting teacher that told me about the trick I mean and if she answers I will let you know okay? Thanks for all the quick and sometimes funny tutorials by the way :-)
If you wrap the yarn the wrong way (clockwise) on the purl stitch below, it makes the stitch smaller. Then you very carefully work it through the back loop on the bind-off row. Is that the trick you're thinking of?

Staci, this is most helpful. Thank you so much for this tip. You're right it truly is a "slap yourself in the forehead moment" 🤦♀️
This is indeed a great tip. Thanks !
Great tip! Thanks for sharing!
This is awesome. I hope I remember this. And by the way, your nails are gorgeous!! :-)
Beautiful! Can this also be done when binding off the last stitch of a rib button band of a cardigan?
Great tip, thank you!
Thank you sooooo very much!! Where was this 40 years ago haha!! :)
I just slapped my forehead!! You're the best. :-)

OK....that is awesome. ....thank you
Super helpful! Thanks again Staci! Would this trick work with binding off garter stitch?
Great tip
Your my go to expert in all things knitting! How would it work in the round?
Yes, different technique - here's my trick for that, this technique gives you a topline with no break in the look of the BO stitches: ua-cam.com/video/7h9SC9KSUfg/v-deo.html
There is another technique but this is a good one that I will try
This video was just what I needed, but now I need to know where you got your dragon scissors.🥰
Muy bien explicado me gusta un saludó desde España
This looks like a great trick. Would you do anything different if you were knitting in the round?
Yes - here's my trick for that, this technique gives you a topline with no break in the look of the BO stitches: ua-cam.com/video/7h9SC9KSUfg/v-deo.html

This is great! Thanks😊
I knit a lot of garter stitch projects, can you show how you do this technique with the garter stitch method? Thanks!
The stitch you are using in the fabric will not make a difference - you can use this technique in any knitting.
What if you are knitting in the round on circular needles?
The simple solution is often the way to go. That's Occam's Razor, Yup, head slap. Thanks!!!
how to you do it for the purl side? still the left leg or change it to right leg?
GAME CHANGER 🤯🤯🤯🤸🏽♀️🤸🏽♀️🤸🏽♀️
Perfecto,,,gracias por compartir
Brilliant!
Great video! I have a question. After finishing increases for toe up socks, it's time to knit the foot. I've noticed I get pointy "corners" on each side where I've begun the foot. Is there a technique to avoid these "corners?"
It depends on your pattern, but once the socks are washed or put on a foot, you should see the toe shape round out.
As mom would say... Weeeeeeell! The spelling doesn't do justice to the sound effects! Lol Thank you!
Oh my goodness. Who knew. Lol. Thanks!!
Loved it!
What’s the difference between bind off and decrease

Will this work on the last stitch of a toeup sock?

I've noticed that my bind off is tighter and more scrunched up then the rest of the knitting.
What's the best way to help with that?
Just use a bigger needle size for the BO...that is exactly what I do on almost every BO, because I have the same issue. :)
Thanks again.
