Congratulations on the engagement and the move! Been a great video series and has really inspired me to finish getting my '94 back to her former glory.
I've been binge watching this series and gotta say it's amazing what you've done with this engine! I'm probably going to be picking up a '95 with a blown head gasket, and have been watching these in preparation as pretty much every seal is leaking so I'm planning on just pulling the motor to fix it all up. I'm debating between refreshing the bottom end or just going down to replacing the head gaskets, and was wondering (if you don't mind sharing) roughly how much you're into the rebuild up to this point? I remember in an earlier video you said you were at ~$1100, but I was just curious if you have a running total now that it's almost ready to reinstall. Even just a ballpark would be appreciated! Going to be trying to rebuild mine on a budget so I'm just trying to figure out if I should even attempt to do any bottom end/machine work or just leave it at gaskets and seals. Keep up the great work! :)
Love the colour of the block. Is it an OEM colour? You will have found that part you were looking for but I can highly recommend Amayama in Japan for genuine parts shipped worldwide.
You didnt clean oil pan bolt holes...well you did but you did it right next to a fresh crank install. Big no no😂. Beautiful engine and a great job on the video
Looking forward to catching up on your videos tonight. My 1fz refresh is running great, mountains, beach, forest non stop. I ordered my new 1fz short block this week in preparation for a brand new fresh 1fz. Did you recheck you valve clearance after bolting final torque to the block? Lucky you getting out of Cali! Congratulations! Where did you find to relocate?
Awesome! I checked a few and nothing had changed, but not all of them. Man, a lot of things happen off camera - it's so time consuming to record! Idaho
@@RM_Garage your content is very high quality and super clean, I bet it's time consuming. I had a hard time stopping my 1fz and doing a basic 1 shot video to hopefully help others. Enjoy Idaho, I flirted with Idaho power a few times but it wasn't a fit. The more I thought about it more north Idaho over the Boise area might have been a better choice. Enjoy the free air, Delta vehicle systems is in the Boise area, cool shop.
Good vid! Regarding parts have you tried Yota1Performance out in Riverbank, CA? Not only do they do motors they have a large stock of OEM parts warehouse. I had them build me a new 1FZ and swap out my old. Ask for Nick. Keep up the great work! Luv your channel!
My mechanic says that the cam sprocket says 6'oclock, but it sits at 12'oclock when he tries to put it back. Can you tell me if he has the wrong cam? How can we tell if they did not mix up my cam at the shop?
Doing the same job as my slipper also broke, did you use a new oil pump or same pump,my pump clearances are in spec but not sure if i have to replace it
Excellent job. Torn on whether to spend the cash on a rebuild or just repower with an LS or a Benz OM606. Finding a 606 in the US would be a challenge. Cummins...heavier than I'd like. Did you need to rebore, new cams etc? You said like new so guessing so. Awesome, hard to bypass that 6 banger. Yeah she's a bit underpowered but it's the factory heart of our beasts. Sacrilege to not keep it all Toyota.
I'd rather not share as they did a great job regardless and I was lenient with the time due to them being a family friend. But I do agree, if it were a shop I was new to, I would have been upset.
Machine shop had some in stock. They are DNJ brand, not OEM. I’m not worried about it, machine shop says they use them all the time in their builds and say they’re a nice piston.
Went a long way to making it look good and left those ugly exhaust manifolds on there. Shame. Could have at least hand them ceramic coated or something.
Awesome job man. Definitely the new standard for 80 series maintenance videos!
Thank you! I really tried to be meticulous about it and go through everything. Appreciate it.
I haven't seen hands this slow and deliberate since watching Liberace play the piano.
Congratulations ! Very clean and beautiful work 💥⚙️🔩
Ahh, the good ol' PVC seal driver. Unsung hero of tools.
And I have a seal driver kit lol 🤣
Just blew a head gasket in my 95 fj80, this is exactly what I want to do! Great job!
Thanks! Make the best of it! Should be a fun project
Congratulations on the engagement and the move! Been a great video series and has really inspired me to finish getting my '94 back to her former glory.
Thanks!!
Awesome work mate ! New Sub from Australia
Great video, definetly my guide for my truck, please dont forget to upload the next steps for reference, excelent job
Thanks!
Far out that’s dedication I rebuild mine on a shoestring budget and it’s turboed🤣
Those stock head bolts are awesome, they are not torque to yield and good for 20psi boost. Good choice to keep them
Glad you got it done. I need to rebuild mine but I'm paying someone to do it after watching this LOL
Lol! It's a lot of work.
I get way too excited when you release a new video!!! 😃 Love the progress! it helps motivate me to work on mine
Awesome Video, so satisfying to watch! Good luck with the House and that you get everything sorted out and done in time 🤞
Great video! I’m looking forward to the build of the rest of the truck too!
Thanks! Me too!
So satisfying to see everything go back together so cleanly! 🤩 Top notch editing too! Peace out Cali ✌🏼
Excellent video. That engine looks super clean and tidy. Just awesome.
Thanks!!
Well done Mate
This is so gratifying to watch 👍I may have the plug you need on my old wiring harness. Unless you are looking for new.
Great video! Keep those 80 series videos coming.
Thanks! Will do!
Awesome video bro.
Where did u purchase the Allen head bolt from?
Wonderful job. Amazing quality

Fantastic work! That is looking good as new, or maybe even better!
that motor is gorgeous. Could you do mine? I did the head gasket in place in the truck. PITA. I want my motor rebuilt like this one. So nice.
FANTASTIC!!!
I'm getting my 1fzfe head machined and new gasket. 105 Landcruiser but. 🤘
Love the series. Great job. Doing the exact same thing. What paint did you use on the engine?
Nice job.
Very clean.
To bad on the head mix up.
Just subscribed to your channel.
Take care, Ed.
Thanks Ed!
Love the colour of the block.

Actually it's just basic smoke gray rustoleum paint.

Big no no😂. Beautiful engine and a great job on the video
Did you ever find the plug you was needing? I have the same one broke on mine!
Nope, never did! At this point I’m about to start buying wrecked or blown up cruisers and collecting parts
Great video!
Thanks!

I have checked their website but haven’t talked to them. I’ll give it a shot, thanks!

I used the same pump and my oil pressure is great. I inspected it and determined it was fine

Go with the LS for sure. The 1FZ is cool...if you're a purist. In my opinion, there is a reason why an LS is in everything. Dominant.
Toyota will last longer
Reach out to Faye Hadley / Pixels and Pixie Dust for info on where to locate the plug. She’s phenomenal
I will do that - thanks!
I used arp head studs. They’re great and also re useable in the future
Nice. Did you have to cut the front 2?
@@RM_Garage no cutting what so ever. Went in really smooth!
Bro, where is the best place to find parts for this engine? Thanks
Toyota and Wits’ End.
@@RM_Garage thanks a lot
What state you headed to? I’m looking to move to California I’m gonna move my 92 4Runner and my 2016 Tacoma both are 4x4.
Idaho!
@@RM_Garage that’s awesome bro I got family in Idaho near Idaho falls.
Its so good nice work
Thanks Lee!
Good 👍 brother
Do you know a place where I can get my lx450 engine rebuilt in the Bay Area ca?
At the 19:05 mark, isn’t the sealant supposed to go inboard of the holes? So it won’t leak out the bolt holes?
19:05 is the end of the video but I put sealant on both sides of the bolt hole it’s just not filmed in order to not bore people
IIRC the manual actually showed it outboard like that but I went all around it.
Engine 1FZ
How did u learn to do this?
Damn which machine shop did you go to?!! 3+ months is ridiculous
I'd rather not share as they did a great job regardless and I was lenient with the time due to them being a family friend. But I do agree, if it were a shop I was new to, I would have been upset.
@@RM_Garage that makes more sense now. It’s a different story if they’re friends of yours. Good job on the Toyota 6. Thing is a beast
Yesssiirrrr..
How much for the rebuild and labor
where did you source pistons?
Machine shop had some in stock. They are DNJ brand, not OEM. I’m not worried about it, machine shop says they use them all the time in their builds and say they’re a nice piston.
@@RM_Garage awesome! Thanks
How can I contact you? I‘m an engine supplier from China.
why do you want to leave Commiefornia? lol
I think your comment answered the question 😂
I’m already gone!
Went a long way to making it look good and left those ugly exhaust manifolds on there. Shame. Could have at least hand them ceramic coated or something.
