Absolutely #1, We just went through another hurricane here in Florida. Milton did more damage in my area than Helene. We live in the country and when we lose power, we lose water. Tawra, thank you so much for all the wisdom you share. As a subscriber who just went throuh Hurricane Milton, I have never been this prepared in my life & its all thanks to your family sharing excellent ideas & stressing the importance of keeping a stockpile/water. Milton ended up affecting a lot of people in my area in a big way. So much so, a lot of stores are not open & theres a gasoline shortage like ive never experienced before. Gov. Ron Destanis brought in gas from out of state & gave it out FREE. The lines were LONG. Because Ive been taking your money saving tips seriously for a few years now, thank be to GOD we even had extra money to save gas for our generator/vehicles before the storm. I can't thank you enough. May the Lord keep blessing & taking care of you & your family. P.s I wish I would have seen the rubber drain stopper, I filled my tub before evacuating & when I returned home the water was all gone!! LOL!!!Ordering the rubber ones immediately! I did fill a big storage bin so I did have some extra water. Lesson learned.

Hi Tawra, your prep advice is amazing. I have been watching your program since January of this year and I greatly appreciate the wonderful and insightful advice you share. I am Ukrainian and grew up in the Soviet Union, which was a terrible and difficult time; there was no food and no amenities. It may be strange to hear, but I grew up in such conditions. My lovely parents worked so hard and had multiple jobs to provide food and pay the bills. We had to economize on everything. Again, all of your tips are truly applicable to real life. I apologize if I come across as rude, but a large portion of the population is not aware of how to survive, which is very sad. It’s important to switch on the “safety button” in our minds to think more critically. Thank you for your hard work, and please continue to educate us with your survival tips.

I grew up in a small home in Florida. When a hurricane was forecast, we did up all the laundry and washed all the dishes and filled EVERYTHING with water. We used to giggle about how we could barely walk thru the house because of all of the containers of water sitting everywhere. When I thought I was going to wear a corset, I bought a bunch of plain white tees to wear under it. You could easily wear under shirts to protect your shirts and bras from your body. And don't be trying to wash your hair! Brush it, braid it and put it up. On storing water, I always keep my kitty litter buckets (intending to plant peppers in them) and I could fill those up.

We keep our above ground pool filled and sanitized and covered all year, for toilet flushing or even bathing if it were needed in an emergency. For filling your tub, buy a WaterBob reusable vessel that holds enough water to top up a tub, but cleaner…you place it in your tub, fill and store for a long time. Cleaner and less sketchy than water directly in the yucky tub.

Key tip that got me started *If you're feeling overwhelmed, breath, think about if you lose power for 2 weeks what would you and your family require... the first 48 hours are the hardest, so if you only have a two day plan, it gives you time to collect your thoughts, feelings and move forward with a plan without worrying about feeding and sheltering your family... water, food, shelter and any special needs on hand will get you started without worrying on the small stuff. I started with $5 a week until I started to figure things out... it adds up so fast, you'll suprise yourself... I've really learned a lot thanks to channels like this... I am grateful and appreciative always...😊

In Calgary, a city of 1.3 million, this year we twice had major water restrictions for weeks at a time. A feeder main burst and until repairs were finished we were given a pass to appear in public with greasy hair and stinky clothes. I grew up without running water, so it was pretty easy to adjust, while maintaining hygiene. We bundled our flushes, threw grey water on the gardens and did laundry infrequently with only full loads. Didn’t wash my bed sheets for a month. Didn’t wash my floors. Collected rain water in barrels and bins. Some people got water from the river for their gardens…the city set up stations for that. We had bottled water on hand leftover from camping, but now I have a good supply on hand at all times.

I live in SE Ohio where we are experiencing a D4 drought emergency. My heart BROKE when you poured the older water down the drain to fill the containers with fresher water. The older water could have been poured into the tub for toilet flushing. Also pouring older stale water from one container to another, back and forth, helps reoxygenate it so it tastes better. Powered drink mixes help with the taste too.

My hubby gets really filthy doing gardening, car repairs and woodworking hobby. His are a challenge to get clean! I don't own underwear....I don't wear any...saves a ton of money and water LOL.....
Seriously though.......Why wouldn't you buy food from the Amish??? I think even though they don't have all the "amenities" we have in the house they still wash their hands and have better hygene practices than some others.
