Really great review. Very informative and you've answered all my questions about the monitor. Looking forward to mine arriving in the post :)
Really great! Just what I needed to know. Ordering mine soon!
Great and helpful review, best I've found so far! Thanks.
+Jonathan Winslow Thanks Jonathan, glad you found it helpful :)
Resist the urge to add music... it's nice to hear what you're saying. Great overview, BTW. Liked, and subscribed. I'm a new A7RM2 owner, and just checking out the options for video. Peace.
Best monitor review I’ve ever seen!
This is the best SmallHD 702 bright video on the Internet. I'm torn between 5" and 7" monitors. Thank you for your work. I will make a buying decision soon.
Great Video man. Keep it up! Can you add some music in the back ground or something though? Might pick one of these up myself.
+Juan Elizondo Thanks for the feedback Juan. Background music is something we have been considering though it is not the easiest to choose a track that if effective without feeling too "busy" mixed with the dialogue of a product review as well as one that is licensed for commercial UA-cam use. With that said, I'm working on finding a few good backup tracks to throw over my voice-overs that maintains a smooth balance between the two. Hopefully, I'll have that by the time our next video goes live which should be relatively soon. Thanks again for the support!
Great review man! I have a Shogun that I use with my A7Sii and I love being able to record from the monitor since I use it on a Movi M5 stabilizer. Did you find it annoying going from a Shogun to SmallHD that you couldn't record on the monitor?
Thanks for this video !
Great review, thanks! Just ordered the 701 for my A7S2. Do you know if the SmallHD comes with an HDMI to micro-HDMI cable, or do you need to buy one separately? And if so, I notice your cable is coiled - do you have an opinion on coiled versus straight (specifically when using something as small as a Sony A body)? Thanks!
great review
Is there a working vector scope yet?
Anybody know how to get hdmi out to a TV from my Small HD 700 when I am shooting 60p 4K on a P4K? Thanks!! I cannot get it to work. Do I need the latest HDMI cords in order for 60 4K? I can view what my Blackmagic is putting out on the small hd but through the out HDMI to a TV I just get a blue screen....Thank you
Anybody know where I can get the ac cable and Canon LP dummy battery for the 700 series other than SmallHD. They want 90.00 for shipping on a 39.99 product.
With this being a "bright" monitor, that is built for shooting outdoors...how does this monitor work on interior jobs? Specifically, shooting in studios and interior offices with no windows or daylight sources? Do you just adjust the brightness levels when you're shooting indoors?
Thanks to your video, I bought the 702 Bright! The Best monitor I've had!
Glad we could help, Linus. Enjoy your new monitor! :)
@@TheTechReviewercom Thank you very much for the reply. However, I have an issue and I'm wondering if you have the same problem with your Sony A7SII or a similar Sony camera. Every time when I record with Sony A7III using the 702 Bright, the image looks crisp and clear, so I can nail focus even without any focus assist features. However, when I want to playback the clip I just shot on the 702 Bright, the footage looks soft on the monitor!!! Therefore, it's hard to judge if everything is perfectly in focus. That was the reason why I bought a 7" monitor - I review every clip I shot without any focus assist features to make sure it will look great in my video project. I shoot smartphone videos and I use the sharpest primes since every detail is very important. The soft video playback issue can be noticed immediately when shooting a smartphone display with small text. The issue is only on Sony cameras including the A7III and A6500. No issues at all with the GH5. Also, Sony A7III does not have this issue with any other monitor, which leads me to believe this is the issue of communication btw the 702 Bright and the Sony cameras.
Can you plug a console to this thing?
How noisy is it? Can an external mic be used close to it?
Does this work with nx300?
what are you using with this for capture and possible playback?
+shadowravyn2011 Not sure I am fully understanding your question, but I couple it with my FS7 and a7RIl.
+TheTechReviewer.com thanks...
realized this was a monitor only... after the fact.
Is the FS7 bug fixed?
I need to know too.
Your names Colt?... My names Colt what a wacky world we live in.
hows the latency or lag with this monitor?
See number 7 in this blog post: www.smallhd.com/community/7-reasons-shooters-want-the-702-bright
a bit pricey at $1500 in my opinion.
