Could you do a video on setting up something like this in geometry nodes? I have ideas of patterned projects like this and I love the parametric workflow here!
By the way, is there any chance you could make this into a plugin, like you did with the Bolt Generator? Or is it going to stay as a .blend file instead? I'm completely in the dark as to how plugins work in the first place, so idk if it's even possible, but I still figured I'd ask.
EDIT: I just realized that the cutaway only works on the BOTTOM tile of the stack and the stack feature seems to just duplicate the bottom tile up. So... this only allows you to stack the SAME tile rather than creating an entire build. Unless I'm missing something, you CAN'T even reproduce something as simple as the stack sets offered on Thangs. I found out how to make multiple cutaways to create more complicated tiles. Since the cutaway cuts out the octagons and squares separately, to create stacks of multiple types, should cutaways be used to eliminate the squares of the sections of the stack to result in the other tiles types? To create multiple cutaways, perform the following: 1. Select the cutaway object. 2. Press tab to enter edit mode. 3. Press a to select everything. 4. Press e to extrude everything which will actually result in a duplication in this special case. 5. Move and resize the duplicate as needed. 6. Repeat at step 1 for more cutaways.
The cutaway removes octagons and squares independently. So, make the stack with the core tile type and duplicate the cutaway as needed to remove the squares to result in stacked side and corner tiles as needed. Just make sure nothing has a gap underneath it so it prints properly. I left a comment explaining how to duplicate the cutaway.
Do this in edit mode. 1. Select the cutaway. 2. Press tab to get into edit mode. 3. Press a to select everything. 4. Press e to extrude (it'll just duplicate in this case) everything. 5. Move the duplicate to where you want. 6. Repeat as needed.
I'm not very familiar with Blender, can anyone tell me what i'm doing wrong? When I enable the cutout it creates a blank space as expected, but there's no wireframe around the box and I can't select it to change the size. Thanks!
had similar issues, after goofing with it some if you click the edge it will 'select' the easier way is to go in the top right, select 'cutaway' and that selects it, then you can use the scale tool to resize. note that you need to then reselect genorator then select modifiers on the bottom right in some cases to get back to the tool to prep to print.
Why is this video linked in the listing as an explanation for multi material stack printing and in the video it says that an explanation can be found in the description, which is NOT the case??
i seem to remember there being something mentioned somewhere about resizing the cutaway cube, but coming back to this, i'm not seeing it mentioned at all.
Blender's s shortcut allows you to resize the cutaway after you've selected it. Also, in edit mode, select everything and press e to duplicate the cutaway and move it somewhere else to make more complicated tiles.
Hmmm ya I had that a few times. Be sure you are using blender 4.2 and maybe give it one or two loads. If that dose not work get back to me so we can find a solution. There is an addon version coming soon to make everything alot more stable and powerful. With a few new extras too 🤫😉
@@Keep-Making I'm sure it's no surprise but it was user error. Didn't hear you mention Blender 4.2 the first time I watched. Downloaded the correct version and everything works as expected. Thanks!
I am part of the comunity and have access to the generator (I’m not active since I extremely busy) but I do not use blender at all since I don’t know how to modify things on it fusion is sooo much easier and user-friendly please this is extremely important for me and probably for a lot of other people as well 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Johnathan, just "stumbled" upon your Multiboard. Fantastic idea!!!

Works perfectly, thanks!

The file crashes in the latest Blender version can you please help me. lg

Can the generator setup a stack with core, side, and corner blocks all in the same stack?
This is what I'm trying to figure out
@@QuietBeats I never managed to figure it out, even though they have premade stacks that are like this. In the end I just did them separately

when I duplicate the cutaway cube the 2nd cube doesn't cut away? please help

I am begin you! please make a generator for fusion 360 🥺🙏🙏🙏 and please for all other parts make a fusion step file 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

its easy enough in fusion to model and make pattern then delete unwanted faces in
Dude, just use blender for this one.
@@mehrdad2685 then would you please do it for me? 🥺🙏
@@huenson2497 trust me I’m not able too 😕
