Throw some fajita seaseasoning on them slabs but first coat with olive oil so it'll stick then bake them for 40 minutes total. 20 minutes each side then flip. Fish tacos are the best 🤌🤌👌🐟🌮 little thin sliced cabbage & i use my own Chipotle baja sauce (made with that 2 step 🔥) as my dressing with squeezed lemon 🍋 and the end garnish with fresh chopped parsley
My wife just made some shrimp and cheese grits with some tomato and onion and put in some two step fire.it was money Dude! Thanks for a great visit in your kitchen and I got 4 daughters.teach them to cook and fish.you can't go wrong.God bless and good luck fishing brother.
If you’re ever in the Jonathan Creek area on Kentucky Lake stop by Fast Eddies in Fairdealing Ky. and get some of the seasoning he makes it is awesome!!
On a cold winter day....hard to beat Boston "crappie" chowder. Basically instead of using clams....use crappie. Only difference is put the crappie in last. Very hearty with the cream and potatoes. I love beer battered crappie as well. Over the years we have cooked a bunch using the old cormeal method but we got burned out on it. Also....this sounds gross but I have made some fine crappie Jerry using a pellet grill. Wife also make crappie salad which is identical to tuna fish salad but much milder. The combinations are endless.
Love the blackened crappie but I also use Cajun seasoning on alot of my crappie and walleye ..... I cook them the same way as you in a skillet with butter....3-4 min per side...... shew whee..... have mercy my mouth is watering now thinking about it.....and fish tacos are best with tarter sauce, Cole slaw, lettuce, cheese and a dash of hot sauce! I love crappie and walleye fried but I also love to eat them blackened and Cajun style! And yes like u said even better the next day!
Ah yeah! Bring on the cooking videos, I'm always looking for new ways to cook up my fish! I do my blackened pretty much the exact same way except I use Chef Paul Blackened Redfish Magic Seasoning.
Fried and bogged down in hunts ketchup , Blackened I use the exact same thing Zatarains blackening seasoning ,,, Tell you Y'all another Good Use for the Zatarains blackening seasoning ,, one pound of Big Lima beans in Crock-Pot , Ham, I usually get a Ham steak or Ham Cubes for that if I don't have some ,and season with about 2 teaspoons of the Zatarains blackening seasoning, teaspoon garlic powder, one chopped jalapeno pepper , serve on Rice , Fried Crappie goes great with those beans and Rice, My buddies over at Addis Louisiana , Donaldsonville La, Laplace La. Etc,, Showed me that long time ago when I went over to hunt and fish for a few days at their camp , I learned a lot from them no doubt , I never would have thought about Using blackening seasoning in beans but good Greif talk about good Stuff ,, I cook ALOT,, especially wild game and Fish , Fileted Crappie has a different taste than the whole frys , sometime I'll keep a few smaller ones that I can whole fry just for the Flavor , Bream or Shell cracker are the same , the Fileted ones taste different than the whole frys ,, The Blackened one's are Good , but those deep fried filets bogged down in the Hunt's Ketchup and a little Texas Pete's hot sauce to me is as good as it gets ,,
Man that looks great. Making me hungry. I like using blackening seasoning when skillet cooking them also. When frying, I use Toney's before battering them with zatarans.
Trying this for supper tonight with a mess of crappie I caught last week. I always fried mine or take a couple lemons, slice them up and layer the bottom of a pan. Place the fillets on top of the lemons then put some butter and yellow or orange peppers cut in strips on top. Cover with foil and throw it in the oven on 350 for 20 minutes. My fiance doesn't like fish normally but tears that up. It's a healthier option too. Tight lines man! Thanks for the recipe
After watching many catch and cook videos ive come to realize my family is definately in the minority. We always fried them the same way, any good lake fish for that matter. Beer batter. Salt and pepper seasoned flour and beer added until it has a nice thin consistency after mixing. We would squeeze a little lemon juice over them as well after plating. Delicious looking recipe im gonna have to give yours and many others a try.
I love to coat my fillets with sour cream and then a coating of Italian bread crumbs. Deep fried are delicious you can also use mustard instead of sour cream.
Nice video! I usually soak mine in mustard & garlic powder in water of course. Then season lightly with Tony's or cajun seasoning. Batter in New Orleans seasoned or Zatarains. Again I like sauted in butter, garlic, little salt and pepper, always with a cajun hot seasoning. Don't forget the tartar sauce with horseradish sauce and extra dill. I make a sriracha and mayo dipping sauce. Like sharing cooking tips.
I liked fried crappie but to switch it up I make a Crappie Etoufee. Just do a search for Catfish Etoufee and substitute crappie for catfish. It's a game changer.
That looks amazing and delicious one great way of cooking crappies next time you fry some crappies try using saltine crackers dip in egg first then crunched up crackers..
Brandon, I hope see this question and reply. What is you fish care process with crappie from the catch to cook? Asking because mine are always mushy and yours look really good and flaky.
Thanks for sharing looks delicious time for me to stop watching and get to fishing I’m sure it takes a lot of work to publish these videos but you do a great job
best Crappie dish is season filets soak them in hot wing sauce and line a baking dish with tin foil and put a layer of homemade ranch dressing down and lay the wing sauck filets on ranch and bake.
Looks tasty, however they aren’t blackened. Blackened fish is supposed to be blackened, and these are still white/light brown. I’m gonna try this myself on my blackstone so they actually blacken!
Your baby is precious. I love the way you and your family handles yourselves. Great role models for so many folks. Win that classic!

Sometimes for a change, I'll marinate in Texas Pete at least 2 hours, then bread and deep fry like normal. It's very good and worth a try.
Can't Beat Texas Pete's hot sauce #1

Brandon, I hope see this question and reply. What is you fish care process with crappie from the catch to cook? Asking because mine are always mushy and yours look really good and flaky.
Soak your filets in ice cold water before you cook them. It will help firm them up. Thanks for watching
Thanks for sharing looks delicious time for me to stop watching and get to fishing I’m sure it takes a lot of work to publish these videos but you do a great job

Hope all is well. Haven’t seen any new videos in a couple weeks.

Looks awful good, gonna have to try it.
Heck, if you like to cook, c'mon over to my house!!! With my wife's cooking, the life you save may be mine!!! LOL
I usually butcher mine when I try to fillet (no pun intended). Sometime show how you fillet them.
I use sharp filet knife- not electric. Takes more time but get better results
Like me some Tony’s.😊

Looks like that’s gonna be saying something👍
Some guy at a lake told me fry some potatoes and then add the crappie in same pan and fry it with it. It will flake up. I heard it's good
Break it up and make crappie salad instead of tuna its great but fried and blackened are my favorite
This may sound weird but coat them in mustard, roll in flour. It's good, candy
Smoke em with hickory with homemade tartar sauce. There’s nothing better
Need to try your recipe. Fried crappie taste too bland for me. 😉
