A tool can be used for good or for bad, and the entertainment industry is largely used to influence others. Regardless of what tool holder wants to achieve, the mind of the recipient individual is a unique circumstance, and it is up to the individual whether they accept or reject, and so beneath the incoming entertainment there’s some requirement of a moral compass and feelings for what’s right and what’s wrong - ahead of or before discovering the way to God, so that after understanding that the entertainment industry is being used in attempts to wreck you before you find out about God, you can still make your way across along through where you need to go in order to be in the best place. I know some of the music I listen to has dirty references, traumatic events, drugs, etc. But I used to relate to a lot of that and it shows how big of a mess I was in. If i were you i would explore different genres. if you want music that is composed in honour of God you will end up mostly in the classical music era. and especially baroque music and renaissance music. You could also explore Orthodox sacred music and things like gregorian chant. If i may give you a suggestion ..... try listening to the "rosary sonatas" composed by Heinrich Ignaz von biber. they are a series of incredible violin sonatas that will greatly move you. and try to compare that with the music you are currently listening to and decide which one is more Godly and which one isnt. Firstly, just because a song mentions God it doesn’t necessarily becomes a gospel song. For me personally i only listen to christian songs no secular music at all. Its by grace of God. Also i use discernment to know if a song helps me to worship Jesus and do i sense the Holy Spirit move in that particular song. Other than this a quick background check of the singers who of those Christian songs. Like are they really followers of Jesus or what because the bible clearly says you’ll know them by their fruits.

But when i became a born again believer almost 3 years back, the Holy Spirit convicted me of such habits of mine as the word of God says two types of waters cant flow out of the same spring (ref: James3:10-12). So by grace of God I quitted listening to all secular music 2 years back only listen to praise and worship songs. Our Lord is faithful and he helps us overcome our temptations.

Even my brother who became a born again believer with me used to listen to Eminem and he still sometimes listen to his songs. But i know that its only about time when the Holy Spirit will convict him and he’ll everything aside to follow Jesus wholeheartedly. Because remember it says in the bible to pick up your cross daily and follow Him. As far as you’re concerned with the mapeh courses then you know if a teacher requires folk or such music which is not Christian then thats okay i mean when we are in Christ we are also free from all binds of legalism and religious spirits. Like if its required or if by chance you get to listen to a song without really been distracted in your walk with Christ, because of it then thats just okay. There is no lies,no truth,no love no hatred and above all no secrets in music. A tool can be used for good or for bad, and the entertainment industry is largely used to influence others. Regardless of what tool holder wants to achieve, the mind of the recipient individual is a unique circumstance, and it is up to the individual whether they accept or reject, and so beneath the incoming entertainment there’s some requirement of a moral compass and feelings for what’s right and what’s wrong - ahead of or before discovering the way to God, so that after understanding that the entertainment industry is being used in attempts to wreck you before you find out about God, you can still make your way across along through where you need to go in order to be in the best place. Is alright if I just listen to the music without supporting the music artists? I know some of the music I listen to has dirty references, traumatic events, drugs, etc. But I used to relate to a lot of that and it shows how big of a mess I was in. I emotionally connect with Jesus because of this and I just think to myself "I would still be in this hell hole, if I didn't let Jesus take me" and I just drop a tear. I mean is this alright or is it still considered evil cause I'll cut off this music if it is.

If i were you i would explore different genres. if you want music that is composed in honour of God you will end up mostly in the classical music era. and especially baroque music and renaissance music. You could also explore Orthodox sacred music and things like gregorian chant.
If i may give you a suggestion ..... try listening to the "rosary sonatas" composed by Heinrich Ignaz von biber. they are a series of incredible violin sonatas that will greatly move you. and try to compare that with the music you are currently listening to and decide which one is more Godly and which one isnt. Firstly, just because a song mentions God it doesn’t necessarily becomes a gospel song.
For me personally i only listen to christian songs no secular music at all. Its by grace of God. Also i use discernment to know if a song helps me to worship Jesus and do i sense the Holy Spirit move in that particular song. Other than this a quick background check of the singers who of those Christian songs. Like are they really followers of Jesus or what because the bible clearly says you’ll know them by their fruits.

I was a huge kpop fan too. And i lived watching Kdramas I literally used to binge watched shows. But when i became a born again believer almost 3 years back, the Holy Spirit convicted me of such habits of mine as the word of God says two types of waters cant flow out of the same spring (ref: James3:10-12). So by grace of God I quitted listening to all secular music 2 years back only listen to praise and worship songs. Our Lord is faithful and he helps us overcome our temptations.
@sarahjoseph8225 in my country, philippines, most Filipinos are more to secular music than christian music. Then our MAPWH teacher, if we have dance project, we are more to Folk and Religious music then we used in Folk or Religious dances

But it is by grace of God that i was able to quit it, it was certainly not because of my own efforts. The thing is God says to us that we should be holy as He is holy. So, if the Holy Spirit convicts us of smth then we should ask of the Holy Spirit’s guidance and strength to work it out.
But i have seen a lot of Christians jamming to secular music. Even my brother who became a born again believer with me used to listen to Eminem and he still sometimes listen to his songs. But i know that its only about time when the Holy Spirit will convict him and he’ll everything aside to follow Jesus wholeheartedly. Because remember it says in the bible to pick up your cross daily and follow Him.
As far as you’re concerned with the mapeh courses then you know if a teacher requires folk or such music which is not Christian then thats okay i mean when we are in Christ we are also free from all binds of legalism and religious spirits. Like if its required or if by chance you get to listen to a song without really been distracted in your walk with Christ, because of it then thats just okay. Remember we as Christians are called to walked by the Spirit and not flesh, to gratify the desires of the Spirit and not of the flesh.

Many other people I know that have heard him say that he's saying everything is evil, which in relation to them is right. I say listening music can't be sin. Why i think so? Through music you pass onto people what you want because music is just a medium. There is no lies,no truth,no love no hatred and above all no secrets in music. Music is like a a void that needs to be filled and it is musicians words,melodies and emotions that fill that void and those words,melodies and emotions is what musician passes on to those who listen to music. What you wish to pass on to people who listen your music is up to you alone and only words,melodies and emotions you invested in your music will be passed on to listeners nothing more and nothing else. Everything you pass on to people who listen your music is out in the open and you can't hide anything.
