Thank you for including 'with a determined heart to forget you' in this collection. It's a wonderful song by one of IU's favorite singers who died tragically at a young age...and just as she was about to release this album (this was meant to be the title song) - his death became a national story questioning if he died by suicide. IU chose not to include this song in the album as she didn't want to amplify the news, and when she told UAENA about her decision, it was one of the few times she cried publicly. You'll likely notice cross-over in this song with 'Through the Night' - as it is meant to continue that story (same hair clip, same letter, her hair is longer when older, etc...).
Autumn Morning actually based on a "scenario" in a family on autumn morning. Autumn Morning is a zombie autumn song : it'll come back to chart (at least to top 200 or top 150) every autumn. Also ppl like to wake up with this song 😊
For the song, 'By the Stream' - which addresses the theme of losing someone to suicide, you can feel her raw emotions as this comes after she lost her good friend Jonghyun (from Shinee), who you may remember gifted her the song 'Gloomy Clock' for an earlier album. The original version of By the Stream has a completely different sound and really masks the heavy lyrics. IU seems to take that approach with her next song on this topic, 'Eight' - before returning with her masterpiece on this topic, 'Love Poem' (those lyrics will destroy anyone)...after she loses more friends to suicide. Obviously, this topic is tragic. Many people reference IU's speech at an awards ceremony as one of the first and only times a public figure dared to speak openly about it - and how concerned she was for other artists. She is always a beacon of light and inspiration.
"With a determined heart to foget you" I have heard a lot about this song and today I come to know why it so much loved song. This will be going to rule on my mind for a long time. It even made me forgot by the stream. Btw I was really waiting for IUniverse fanconcert live clip of secret garden😂 but it's ok.
IU’s “By the Stream” is a remake of the song originally performed by Kim Jung-hee in 1967 and later popularized by Jung Mi-jo in 1972. The song is based on the poem “Gaeyeoul”(1922) by the poet Kim Sowol. IU has reinterpreted this classic piece, blending the original sentiment with her unique musical style. The song beautifully expresses the sorrow and longing of parting. In Kim Sowol’s poem, “Gaeyeoul” symbolizes not just a physical place but also the emotions of separation and yearning. IU’s “By the Stream” captures the essence of the original poem while adding her distinctive musical touch, making it beloved by many. Additionally, The term “개여울” (gae-yeo-ul) refers to a specific part of a stream or brook. It describes a shallow area where the water flows rapidly due to the narrow width of the stream. This term is not commonly used in everyday language but can be found in literary contexts, such as poetry or songs. 개울 (gae-ul): A small stream flowing through a valley or field. 여울 (yeo-ul): A place in a river or sea where the bottom is shallow or the width is narrow, causing the water to flow swiftly. 여울목 (yeo-ul-mok): A place where the water in a rapid stream is obstructed, forming a ridge. Therefore, “Gaeyeoul” describes a shallow section of a stream where the water flows more rapidly due to the narrowness or shallowness of the streambed. This term is often used to depict a place where the water is not deep but moves quickly, creating a distinct sound and visual effect. In the original live clip video, IU mentioned that she was not satisfied with the vocals recorded for the album and hoped to sing it again after she had grown more as an artist. By the way, this is my favorite song from the album Jung Jae-il, who arranged the remake of IU’s song ‘By the Stream,’ is a composer, arranger, producer, and pianist. He also played the piano in the live clip. I really like his works.
Korean has various types of words, including native Korean words, Sino-Korean words, loanwords, hybrid words, and neologisms. These diverse elements combine to create a rich vocabulary in the Korean language. While it would be ideal to understand and translate these types accurately, unfortunately, most translations tend to become very simplified. This is a regrettable aspect.
Oh, Dear Moon, I love that song. IU also covered that song. It's a song of Jehwi, but IU wrote the lyrics and was used as an OST on her Drama 'My Mister'. edit: Not Jukjae, it was Jehwi😅
“If you want to react to ‘Dear Moon,’ I suppose you should create another section for the songs covered or featured by IU. As you know, she’s running her own show, and it releases many songs covered by IU.”
iu said that THAT performance of by the stream was HER BEST. she said she doesn't always feel satisfied with a performance but that one WAS PERFECT. INDEED IU INDEED ❤
When you go to an IU concert, there are lyrics on the screen (in Europe and USA they were romanized lyrics) for the songs with a fanchant 🤩 It helped very much! (But knowing the lyrics by heart, you can concentrate more on IU 😉)
@@SylverReacts I guarantee that when you are at the concert IU's extraordinary aura will hit you and for a few hours you will have the superpower to read or sing in Korean even the songs you don't know well! (I'm not the only one who experienced it) 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

Yess, pls notice that connection with through the night
Actually, the lyrics is quite connected as well
The man you always see doing the piano is Yoo Hee Yeol. He's the man of Sketchbook. Hence, why the show is named Yoo Hee Yeol's (YHY) Sketchbook.
LOL that makes a whole lot of sense, thank you

She seems to have a lot of these kinds of seasonal songs that make their way back up the charts at different parts of the year, that's really cool
