Little did she know, a casting agent was in the audience that night and suggested she try acting. Pam laughed it off initially, but after hearing that opportunities for black actresses were on the rise, she decided to take the plunge and move to Los Angeles.

Directors and producers have to pay a much higher membership/entry fee to even be considered a part of the industry, much less seen or heard by the higher ups in that business. and they definitely weren’t about to give their precious little bit of time and award their tacky looking Oscar trophy to another woman of colour anytime soon, back then (1997). They didn’t even want us in the building💯

With her shape I doubt she was over 135. Even by 70s white women's standard she was still smaller than many of them, say the likes of Marilyn Monroe. If there were comments about her being chunky it probably had more to do with being a racial jab than her actual weight.
