After waiting to get a new generation GPU from either AMD or Nvidia for the past 18 months, I finally caved in and bought the Asus ROG Strix 6600 XT a couple of weeks ago for $550 USD. I felt really bad about it at first, but given how long I've waited and everyone projecting the pricing issue to continue until late 2023, I just went for it. It wasn't the best decision, but for 1080p ultra gaming it is awesome. The 6600 XT performs like an RTX 2070 Super from last gen, which isn't really that bad if you look it at that way. I don't see myself upgrading my 1080p monitor anytime soon, so I think this card will definitely last me years to come. I am happy with the performance and contrary to popular belief, it actually does well with ray tracing enabled at 1080p ultra settings. The lower tier models (dual fan as example) are more in the 440 - 460 Euro range. Yes the lower priced models are now slowly soled out. But hours into the release the is still plenty of stock.
In UK a base card ( Pulse ) is £379 including tax and a Nitro+ is £399 and supply is good , even a few discounts. For the level of performance this seems OK but not a bargain. With container shipment costs going up 5+ fold and increased materials costs this seems almost justifiable.

I was thinking about this earlier when I saw the price of the 6600XT. Inflation is impacting the price sure but I do not think it is 25%. Everything cost more. All the parts that make up a gpu from the memory to the capacitors to even the plastic that goes into the shroud is 20-30% more expensive. In today's market reality this is a pretty good deal card compared to what 5700XTs are actually going for now...north of $700.00 on ebay...for partner models...the reference ones are slightly below $500.00....and of course the rest of the RDNA2 lineup..

It was pretty easy to get on Day 1 at RRP in Australia, and probably best value available in a while given given they were less than a 1660 Super/Ti sells for in reality. No doubt the price will be going up now, but at least they did not sell out in 2 seconds.
Because of market, the consumer paid it without considering. Hence AMD delivered what they wanted. Things will be getting more and more expensive and there's no return if consumer still keep quiet about it. People need to speak up instead of keep quiet when last times AMD released 5600x for $300 as lowest SKU and nobody talked about it being expensive. I assume in future every mid range card gonna cost arm and legs. Good luck DIY market, it already sucks. You guys saw it coming , don't complain about the pricing.
Well the miners are still consumers and since they are buying the most, our voices just don't matter right now or don't matter as much. I mean, we can yell and scream all we want right now, and it just isn't going to change the landscape due to shortages and the crypto boom. These companies aren't having any issues selling the cards, until they start to have those issues, the only voice they are going to listen to is whichever voice speaks $$$
at about 5:00 you go into the pricing and inflation situation. i would have loved to hear a story about Gamer Gavin, Scalper Sammy and Miner Morris to explain it all. always cool hearing you talk the economics side as well in your review.
Honestly, it will probably be years before anyone releases a card priced that aggressively again. Or they will pretend to release one with no stock and all the board partner mods +$200. It's sad, but I think console gaming looks better every week.
Sell it for 300 Euro if it is a 8GB Version. I did so with my 570 (280 Euro) and bought a 6600XT. That should give you +100% performance. You forget that you can get 3x more for a used polaris than in normal times.

Here in the UK i am seeing actual stock with online shops, ranging from £380-500, wow...i think this is a game changer. Why should the RTX 3060 be twice the price ? Why is the RX 6700 triple the price ?? Now who can ask £800 for their old RTX 2080 ? So this has put all scalper prices of all GPU`s into contension. One more thing, what happened to the RX 6600 ? Only XT version released yet ? on well, if the shops keep thier stock longer than 5 seconds, i think thats brilliant.
Clearly not wanted badly at the 6600xt price. Overclockers still have two models with 10+ stock (their highest rating). All other recent GPU releases have gone in an instant.

In Romania, 6600XT, Red Devil is around 600$, which may sound expensive but a 3060 is around 800$. An 6700XT from Red Devil is around 1000$ and an 3070TI ( which is cheaper than 3070 non TI ) is around 1400$. All these prices are best deals not max prices or averages. I have an 1080 GTX which is being sold here on the second hand market at at least 400$. I am "that" close to sell my 1080 GTX for 400$ or maybe even 450$ and buy an 6600XT. Everywhere they say is bad value, but here even if is not a very powerfull card to me seems like a good deal. What do you guys think?
Jan 2022 - Microcenter in US: Red Devil is $599. Probably going to buy it at that price, god damn it. Edit: Must upgrade as I have an 8 year old PowerColor HD 6950. Things have changed since the last PC I built. There are literally no 3060s or 3060 Tis in stock btw, and some 6600xt version sell for $650. The Fighter is $539 and in stock some places. The 6800XT is $1200 right now.
I have not seen any for cheaper than 600 on ebay yet. At 2.50 per day it will make about $300 before the difficulty bomb hits in December. I guess you could buy it now and mine with it nonstop to make up for the unfair price. Or just wait and not have a space heater instead of a desktop for 4 months.
MSI 6600XT Gaming and rised the Powerlimit in bios from +4% to +20% like the other cards have already stock. Ingame clock 2760Mhz (Furmark even 2780 Mhz) and Memory Clock 2280 Mhz @ 1120mV. Rockstable :) and a almost +10% performance boost.
Managed to get a basic 3060 at $750 (STILL too high!) before PC Case Gear and everyone else basically jacked up the prices. Stuff the silicon shortage and stuff COVID; if I can't get a GPU at about $300-350AUD -- to hell with it all.
Thanks, I didn't even know this card existed, because I stopped looking at the new GPU market. It looks like it performs like a 3060, but $300 cheaper.

Current price for this piece of shit is too high. $250 (USD) is the normal price for it. I'm happy that my old gtx 980 still works well. I would never buy a card with 128 bit bus even for $200. Shame on AMD.

This card would only be $355 if you factored in inflation (2 years). A 5700xt was $400 2 years ago. This card is saving you $45 when you factor in inflation. What’s the problem here Brian?
For me it's the combination of 128bit bus and PCI-E X8 maximum. This card is literally cut down to be super cheap for production and achieve huge profit.

This couldn't be further from the truth. lots of factors go into the new pricing currently and i strongly doubt they're making a profit. Hell nvidia is probably losing a ton making the 3060 due to gddr6 prices. The reality is until the economy improves these prices will be here to stay.
@@SaveTheSunF1R3x yeah, it must be tough for Nvidia and AMD both posting record levels of profitability over the past two years. Selling old architecture for well above MSRP seems like a pretty great deal. Just have to be smart about this, my xfx 6800xt mines when I'm not gaming, it costed me $1699aud but it's making $5-6 a day. Red devil cards has this perfect opening on the backplate for the core to have a square heatsink slapped on.

Both represent terrible value though. Long term, these decisions will shape the future. It is a self-fulfilling prophecy. Overpaying for GPUs just leads to more inflation but it's what's going to happen I guess. But in 2021, 1080p doesn't cut it for me at that price.

In UK a base card ( Pulse ) is £379 including tax and a Nitro+ is £399 and supply is good , even a few discounts.
For the level of performance this seems OK but not a bargain. With container shipment costs going up 5+ fold and increased materials costs this seems almost justifiable.
Same price and performance the 5700xt was 2 years ago. It's not a great deal.
@@Safetytrousers Overclocked vs Overclocked it's a bit faster than the RX 5700 and way less power consumption. And you can get 3x the price for your old card than normal. A year later and I got one for $185. Time to upgrade my 3200G to feel the 6600XT's power.
Looks like gamers wanting GPU's are just another victim of The Great Reset . "You will own nothing and be happy , if you survive "
you can get this card from retailers for around 400 euros in Germany now. (that's with 19 percent tax included)
Not anymore, pal.

No doubt the price will be going up now, but at least they did not sell out in 2 seconds.
wonder what thickness of thermal pad can be used on that backplate?...
Would love to see the undervolt in a video. Got the Rx 6600xt myself and would love to see it super power efficient

Need help with my ASRock motherboard... It turns on with cmos battery ( cpu fans spinning ) but won't boot. I then tried without CMOS and it does not come on at all( no fans spinning )
Would you use this or a 6700 xt as an upgrade from a gtx 1080 (non ti)?
Ugh that red devil model looks so good, even if the performance is not the best it might be worth it for the aesthetic

just pick up PowerColor Red Devil for 220usd!! Excited to upgrade the EVGA 1060G after all of the crazy!

Where are you able to buy 6600xt in Malaysia?
