    I like how you mention in detail a lot of stuff that I think about, like breakdown, time, etc. I've been very picky on when I go out now because gas prices are so high, I can easily burn through a 1/4 of a tank (elantra) just doing a couple hours in the city. If orders slack off or are consistently low while mult-apping I'll just pack it in and go home. I may not be making any money but I'm also not burning my gas and my personal time.

      Feel you I have an 08 civic and i was using my ninja for like the last two years and I tell you bc of the difference in gas mileage bc it only a 400 cc was huge . I never thought gas would be an issue in a civic . Now at 42 bucks to fill my civic as to $25 dollars to fill up during a better time 2016-2020 you know 😊 it’s insane how much gas I burn muti apping.

    I have over 10k deliveries. Started October 2020 doing 35 to 40 hours a week. I fortunately became part of the large order program March 2021. I’m in Omaha Nebraska and now infrequently dash because of the change in the market and lack of high paying orders which DD classifies as $2 per mile. As you note in this video none of the orders frequently are $10 or more. It is no longer worth it to me to be a serious professional dasher, always use a catering bag. I only would dash during lunch and dinner rush and it’s just not worth it any more as a steady flow of income. DD prefers the people who are in the road less than 10 hours a week. In fact based on what I have observed with food handling I would never use any food delivery app to order food. Never.

      @@YourDriverMike it started with catering most did not require setup. The large order program was guaranteed large tips. Lunch time corporate orders and dinner time orders from restaurants, fine/upscale restaurants. My largest order was $105, a lunchtime corporate order. Tips for LPO made it work for me, orders with tips between $25 to $75. I have a large catering bag and smaller ones. My deliveries always go immediately in to a catering bag in the restaurant till delivery to the customers. All delivery services would do better if they required a picture at pickup of the order being placed in a hot/cold bag. My belief is that overall better service requirements would lead to better tips. My opinion is that DD does not care about service. Especially since they went corporate. The latest program rollout disqualifies me from LPO. I was only taking 1 in 4 orders, 23 percent. The majority of drivers are minimum wage workers for DD and not independent contractors.

    • @kev7161

      Door Dash (I feel) has somehow been steering customers away from large tipping. The tips they suggest on the app are generally small. I don't know what the criteria is for the amounts they show, but customers choosing one of the low suggested tip amounts feel good about tipping something at least so, for them, a $2 tip is good enough. This probably makes them feel better about paying the high fee DD gouges them with. I wish DD would do away with tipping and rather go to charging the customers delivery driver fees that 100% go to the drivers (a $$ per mile would be great) and maybe up those base pays again to a more generous level. I don't see that happening, but those are my thoughts.

    I have an 11% acceptance rate. The 2 offers I took at lunch was $9.50 for 3.8 miles, and $10 for 4 miles. Exactly 1 hour with the app on. 45 minute active time from restaurants taking a while to get the order ready. I couldn’t imagine accepting enough to get up to 78% and then still getting $4 orders🤣

    • @YourDriverMike
      @YourDriverMike  9 днів тому

      Right, at least they are 12-15 min $2+ a mile runs. Honestly not the worst but as we saw just not enough order volume or cashflow to earn $20+/hr.

    I am a Top Dasher in Tri-Cities, TN. My delivery zones are Bristol, Johnson City and Kingsport. I have noticed that my best earnings are in Johnson City from 9pm-12am. In Kingsport it is more miles and low tips so hourly is best there. Bristol is 2nd best from 7:30am-9:15am. (Bristol does have other good shifts but is furthest from home and not safe at night, so limited)
    I am writing all of this because you asked about offers lately. In this past week, my offers have been scraps with very few "high paying" offers. I just received an email that the 3-tier rewards pilot program will be rolling out in Kingsport in May. I am going to change up my schedule (I schedule even though I have "Dash Now" capability) to include more Kingsport shifts. I already meet the requirements for Platinum so I am curious if Kingsport will improve with the program. The offers have been so bad for the past week that my AR went from 82% to 72% and I received a warning about Top Dasher AR requirements.

    I watched this video today, and I had the same thought about the double digits orders, I started today 20 something orders away from platinum status. My first order was a $7.50 order but then I got a add on for little caesars it said $9 but I guess it had a + cause it was an order of 25 pizzas for an office. I ended up getting $53 and some change, my next order being a $43.75 11 stops (27 miles) order for Petco I ended up platinum at the end of the day. I’m going to do my first platinum order tomorrow. I dash in Oregon, I just started watching your videos, I enjoy the different perspective and insight. I hope you reach platinum soon 🤞🏾.

      Signing up for DD should be really easy, enter in your info, notified of a background check, you clear it and you're good. Sometimes the background check takes some time and/or they have waitlists. But if it's a technical issue with their app you can reach out to support on X/Twitter. If it's on the background check side (Checkr) you would want to reach out to them.

    Most definitely "high paying" likely soley based on what dashers are available at that time in that zone & the avg pay per order. Either way, 4$ as high paying we'd obv not consider as high paying, but to your point about order volumn, location & time I love when I can avg 15min per order. Even when doing an all day shift which for me 11 to dinner if I can be kept steady taking those little orders keeps you moving. My usual minimum is 4$ & ideally 2$ per mile. No shame in a 5$ McDonalds order that should take 15min or so from accepted to delivered. Obv slowups here & there. Love the store orders more as tips aren't needed as much to make the order worth it. Best order I've ever had was a party city pick up like 13mile drive but paid 30$ lol
    Weirdest order was 2 gallons of milk from Aldi to an actual restaurant lol 10$ tip too so like 16$ for 10min :)

    I’d rather not move than take something less than 5 miles and a $5 tip.
    Thing is I just dropped $2k on repairs, if you’re just looking at pay per miles that even $2 a mile consistently will not cover a maintenance fund, fuel, insurance.
    One time I did a two mile run on a $3 promo so it was like 5.75 and ended up running over a piece of metal and shredded a tire. It was at night in the rain just a few degrees above freezing.
    Told the customer I was going to be late and still hit me with a negative rating. Cheap orders are from cheap people.
    While one time I was doing a $35 shopping order of 17 items for 4.5 miles, on my way a woman jumped lanes and dinked the front of my car, called the customer and explained that we had to do an insurance exchange the customer ended up adding a $20 on top of that.
    General rule of thumb if a customer is tipping they are generally the type of people who appreciate what you are doing.
    Stay away from cheap assholes!
    No dasher rewards could make me want to deal the them.

    So I’ve been testing in the Pittsburgh area… Platinum Dasher… peak pay you’re funny! Yesterday was out for 8 hours. Pay by order. 13 orders and 11 of them were shop and pay. 1 add on grocery pick up at GE. Only 1 restaurant pick up and it was High Pay/ Priority. Last week I did pay by hour and in 8 hours I got 22 orders, all restaurants, tips were all over the board. 💔

    • @andremesq
      @andremesq 9 днів тому

      When they pick you for shop and pay, that pretty much all you get. I’ve met a guy who used to make good money on restaurant orders, then he accepted a few shop and pay and all of a sudden those are pretty much the only offers he would get.
      If you don’t absolutely need shop and pay to stay busy, get out of it all together. Report that red card as lost and never activate another one, so they won’t send you shop and pay offers.
