- The Hinemaiaia is a tributary of Lake Taupo. It is a small River but each year Trout Over Ten pound come from its waters. The trout I hooked in the Video probably was just over 4 pounds but in very good condition. The Hinemaiaia is a wonderful piece of water to fish and now is the time to do it. Cheers Shane.

oh brilliant mate. Is there anything you would like to see done or explained?
wow .. The Good catch...
Hey man, yeah just the hook was in the wrong place. :) thanks for watching.
nice fish!!
Thanks mate, enjoyed that.
Oh cool, I liked bringing it to you.
This is one of my favourite bits of water on the Hine Shane! Coined this pool the honey pot for always holding fish haha. Your indicators are still going hard, will be up in Taupo later this month so might see you round! Tight lines bro
LOL hey young man good to hear from you. Hmm honey pot is a good name... The name it used to have was the Steps pool. It used to have a big flax bush that had fallen in and the resulting eddy it created channelled out a super deep hole. Then one really big flood removed the Flax and within 6 weeks it had silted over, I cried lots!! Now there is a solid Kanuka tree in there and again it has created a holding spot. Deff fish up the bank but then add weight at the top and you should hook up. Tight lines bro.
excellent release
Hello my friend, long time without a chat. Hope your fishing has started to come into season and you and your family are staying safe. He was a very well behaved trout that is for sure. :)
Thanks bud! The season started off slow here but has heated up. If you get tired of winter, come to New Mexico and I will take you fishing.
nice fisch
Hey man, Thanks for watching.
Nice
Hey man. Thanks for subbing me. You have come in at a good time. This would have been a better catch if it had been in the mouth, it certainly would have been easier to land!!
+rivergod21 Lovely scenery in your vids. Not sure it compares but stop by to check out my home waters.
Hey man.Yes we are blessed in NZ for scenery and trout. I looked at your page, very cool. Is that you making the split cane rods?
+rivergod21 yep, thanks for viewing & NZ looks beautiful. Tight lines to ya
You are a rivergod haha
Hey Tavis, always good to see you watching my Vids. hey tell me Bro have you been involved with Didymo Dave and the clean up on the Nui?
rivergod21 nah I haven't actually been up the nui for ages what's been happening up there?
They have cleaned up the banks Bro, looks much better. Where are you fishing now?
+rivergod21 oh havnt been doing much fishing lately too lazy haha
Ye I'm struggling to know where to find what depth the fish are in different conditions
Over winter, always on the bottom, fish deep unless water is clear and low. Over summer, fish lighter as Tout sit at all depths, looking and waiting for food to either land on the surface or float down through the current. Hope that helps.
+rivergod21 thanks, I hope I can get ages more bites now👍🏻keep up the good work man🎣🎣
Good luck mate.
what rod do you use
For the Taupo rivers when they have a bit of extra water flowing through them I use my 8#. It is a locally made rod by Kilwell NZ called a SAS. The old 8#'s were more like Broom Sticks but the newer ones are much nicer to use and have the ability to slow the run of a bigger fish down.
