- Join Graeme as he goes magnet fishing for the first time! He heads to a ww2 machine gun post. In this film Graeme jumps on an old bicycle to do a bit of waterway exploring using a powerful magnet on a rope. He aims to locate some military munitions or anything that might have been dumped off the bridges many years ago. He makes base camp on a WW2 machine gun post, climbing up onto the roof and enjoying a complete cookup with a great view. It’s not something you get to do every day, so check the film out to see how he gets on.

You sir are a legend, congratulations on being 70 years young, thanks for sharing your fishing adventures . Cheers
Lmao sticking the magnet to the bike and struggling to get it back off 🤣 that's literally what I would do lol
some poor bugger will be going past in his narrow boat and .... CLANG!!!! they'll think they've picked up a limpet mine 🤣🤣🤣
This was an outstanding episode. The stories brought back so many memories of my boyhood adventures.
A bike ride, exploring, magnet losing and a cook up on top of a pillbox. What an adventure. Never grow old Graeme.. !! 👍
Unfortunately a process I cannot change...but I know what you mean..I find it best to attack everything with a sense of humour and not take myself too seriously...
@@TAFishing definitely mate. Inside every man is the little boy still wanting to ride his bike, climb a tree, get muddy and splash in puddles. Unfortunately a lot dismiss this and forget the fun. Love your vids. TA rules and proud to be part of the army. Keep up the great work 👍
Graeme, you sir are a bloody lunatic at times! Climbing on top of a pillbox for a cook-up! Classic! Thanks for keeping us entertained and we’ll say no more about the lost magnet…. Bravo sir, bravo!
Mr P....how the hell are you not on mainstream T.V????? keep up the good work and thanks for keeping us all going through these difficult times.
pleased the films help.
Diversity
Hi Graeme, you've taken me back fifty odd years, as a teenager used to fish along the Basingstoke canal and Tundry pond. Caught a 17lb pike by the laurels up by the bridge that split the pond in two. Used to have to keep an eye out for the farmer/gatekeeper who would confiscate our fishing gear and then my dad used to go and get it back. Used to stop off at either the Cheques pub or think it was the Black Horse or Black Prince in Crookham Village for a pint of two. (We looked older then we were). Tewseldown was like our back yard and we would go there most days in the summer holidays. I belonged to Fleet and Crookham Athletics club and would run around the race course. Oh happy free days. Thanks for stirring up the old grey matter.
Amazed anyone would even know I was telling the truth,so thanks for posting the comment. It was the Chequers Pub. we also used the Barley Mow pub down at Dogmersfield ,going there on our bikes and ordering halves of mild and bitter ,usually one orders while the others stayed outside. Still of school age naturally.
@@TAFishing We used to get a pint and a half of mild plus an extra pint glass... split the beer between the two pint glasses and it nearly looked like we had a pint each!!
Mmm mmm mmm 😋, Graeme’s eating good in the neighborhood! Wooo-weeee! Looks mighty good there Graeme Ol buddy!
Brilliant video as always Graeme, there is something about your videos which just make them incredibly relaxing! keep up the good work my friend!
You are a absolute legend Graham, every time I watch your videos I have a good laugh. And your fishing videos are brilliant, I've got so many tips from you!! Would love to meet you and go fishing. 🤣😂😜
The good thing about not catching much with a magnet is the canal is relatively clean. 🙂👍
I think you are a great role model for eternal youth…..why should kids have all the fun. Brilliant!
Marvellous video Graeme. Thank you.
I really really enjoyed this episode more please GREA
Great video Graeme really enjoyed it. Hope to see more like this
More Summer Wine please Graeme your never to old for fun and adventure
One of the funniest things I’ve seen in a long time.
Very good, love your adventurous spirit!
what a man!
You have a brilliant sense of humour and should certainly have a slot on tv
A very enjoyable video, take care of yourself
Love your videos Graeme ❤️
That pillbox has been there over 70 years and it's gets shelled by one of own (28.35) 😂 great vid greame didn't even mind no fish two thumbs up 👍👍
Can't see them clearly but most of the big ww2 concrete blocks were for balloon barrages. Basically anchor points for the balloons.
Great vid 👍 quick tip to make the back pack stool more comfortable just put some pipe insulation foam around the bar that rest’s on your back and wrap it up with a layer of electrical tape.
I enjoyed going on your adventure with you!
This is one of your most entertaining films yet!! So much fun. If you haven’t seen the movie “Hope and Glory”, you should. It’s about a young boy in ww2 in London. A little before your time, but I can imagine you had a similar childhood. Aside from the air raids of course.
Brilliant episode.. loved it!
That was great graham, that must be the cleanest canal on the planet,,you remind me of my youth iam a mere boy at 67 years......great
Is that your real name or an only fools and horses reference? 😂
Keep on rocking 10/10
It's good to take the mick😁🦈
I will have to say that's some damn fine camera work while riding a bike that's not something everybody can just do!!! 🍻🍻 And I fully expect that if you had faltered and fell into the canal you wouldn't hesitate to post that!! And I can just imagine enemy fighters being told to toss their guns into the water as they come across the bridge, as they throw up their hands and surrender???!!!
You're cracked ma man
Cracked yes,but not broken..there is a subtle difference.
This is my first time watching one of your videos and I have to say I love you 😅 you remind of Bruce Forsyth, only 18+ 🤣 absolutely hilarious character, genuine, whole hearted man in love with his surroundings 😊 nice to see!
Magnet fishing is an awesome hobby, just don't feel disheartened when you don't find anything! I'm starting a business supporting my local community and I have applied to adopt a length of the Grand Union to offer magnet fishing workshops etc ⭐
Them pill-boxes were incredible! What area are you in as there are none that I am aware of in the Milton Keynes area 🤔 investigation needed! 💪
👍🏻😂👍🏻 well done on getting your 🧲 back. 👍🏻👍🏻
You are absolutely right sir, the youth of today are so electronically minded what with their phones and PlayStations and social media they don't go out into the wilds, haven't tried to climbed a tree 🌴 enjoying your videos immensely. Hope you enjoyed your birthday weekend 🎂🎉 Best wishes for your future.
70 year old juvenile delinquent. I used to play in the pill boxes when I was a youngster in the 50ies and 60ies. Never cooked on the top of one though. We found them near railway lines mostly.
Very nice adventure. I hope to be doing the same thing in my 70s.
fantastic vidoe you crack me up
Awesome video, too bad no luck with the magnet. The pill box was quite a treat thanks for letting us see it with you!
Certainly nothing like that in Texas.
Great film Graeme, I hope I have your enthusiasm and energy when I'm your age.
Hi Graeme, interesting one, I tried this magnet fishing and like you to no avail, still it was fun, I looked up about the pillboxes and wondered why they infact, call theem pillboxes and came up with this? Pillboxes are concrete dug-in guard posts, normally equipped with loopholes through which to fire weapons. The originally jocular name arose from their perceived similarity to the cylindrical and hexagonal boxes in which medical pills were once sold. They are in effect a trench firing step hardened to protect against small-arms fire and grenades and raised to improve the field of fire. Pillboxes are often camouflaged in order to conceal their location and to maximize the element of surprise. They may be part of a trench system, form an interlocking line of defence with other pillboxes by providing covering fire to each other (defence in depth), or they may be placed to guard strategic structures such as bridges and jetties. I guessed it had something to do with the old poxes for pills as we do not really use that word anymore, rather medication so interesting. Congrats on getting the magnet back by the way. Note to self infuture, "do not attempt to connect your magnet to your bicycle as they often take a hell of a yank to get them off again, amazed you got your off lol. well done.
Loved this one! Just missing a pinch of salt and pepper on that grub.
you sir are a legend i loved every sec of it thankyou for the belly laughs!
Delightfully mad but that's why we watch and enjoy your antics.
First throw finds the plug and drains the canal lol
Could do with some air in those tyres mr Pullen! Cracking video as always!
Amazing video as always , you tube gold you climbing on the pill box 😃
Think Graham the centre core in pill box .maybe also if hit by bomb stops roof falling in .have to check on that .still you do have a go at everything .never a dull moment 👍👍👍
i was waiting for you to get out a table candle in a holder rose in a bottle and a doily lol nice one love ur vid have fun
lol🤣
Cleanest canal ever.
Great video Graham would of been happy with all those throws as casts myself 😁great skills 👍🎣
Don't worry,I still put plenty of flies up in the trees and bushes !!
hello Graeme Ilive close to Tweesledown its now all fenced off and used for eventing no more race course but lots of jumps and obsticals and closed to public like all of the common near by although the public can still get into parts via gates, i remember getting loads of bullets and casings.and still have a few. great memories from the 50s and 6os
Reminded me of the time Stoneham lakes were drained when we were kids. Went up there with a metal detector to find lost leads. What did we find 303 bullets, we pulled off the heads and dried out the powder. Don't think children these days have half as much fun as we did!
Love your vids
You make great videos Graham , enjoyed this a lot . Maybe take a light weight telescopic rod outfit with you next time 👍
Sorry Graeme, watched your previous videos and forgot to say happy birthday, so, Happy Birthday son .😎
Top vid as always graeme !
That’s the first time I’ve ever heard you swear you naughty man😳😂😂
When you stuck it to your bike it reminded me when I stuck one I just bought on a metal beam and would not come of
Great fun👍
Enjoyable video but you need a much larger magnet to catch the good stuff
Nice walk by canal.....don't think you will b doing than any time soon....try the shifting sands of....?
Don’t fall over, there’s an egg in there 🤣🤣🤣
Absolutely bloody brilliant. I hope when I become a pensioner I will have the energy to climb up on top of a machine gun post to cook ham, egg and chips. So many people could take some inspiration from that. Followed by the phrase “oopsy what a twat!” Stay young!😂👏
Another great video Mr. P 😁👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👌 then pill boxes would make awesome cafes or something 👍🏻 whish you found something WW2 related, as that would of been awesome. At least you got mike's mangit back👍🏻All the best, Tel 😊🙏🏻😊
Which river was you on Graeme?
Basingstoke Canal.
@@TAFishing Thanks Graeme 👍🏻
Great stuff worried if you was going to fall in while riding the bike can you do a review on the first backpack with the seat looks a good one very interesting stuff about the ww2 gun pot love it keep it come we will remember them
Nutty as ever good video, would like to know where the luxury canals you fish on are, as my local and everywhere I've ever gone general look that colour 🤣
Wow, how did you retrieve that magnet? That is a super power kind of thing.
reminds me of the when i went night fishing on Pulau Jahat...a small island north east of SGP where half the island is riddled with WW2 brit bunkers. so creepy at night, the mossies were suicidal type, but the fishing was great though. cheers GP.
Hi Graeme,
Good one, I love our history. Have you thought about writing about your life.
I'd buy it. Christmas 2022.
Losing the magnet could happen to anybody; recovering it was quite resourceful!
Lord of the rings lol
Love it just like my young days freedom go were you like do what you like in reason. And we wonder why kids of today are board
Really enjoyed this video G. Would love to see you do more of this. Hope many casts did it take to get the magnet back?
Only half a dozen due to the huge treble hook I was used. Could have snagged a Gator with that one !
@@TAFishing pictured you being their for hours. Yes or a whale LOL Hope you don't mind me calling you G we have a family friend called Graham and he's known by G LOL.
I bought a fishing magnet last year during lockdown. I live in Rotherhithe South East London and the docks have some very interesting artefacts lol. Also have you tried fishing the London docks you will be surprised how many species of fish thrive in the Thames/docks..
The only shell to land on the roof an egg shell 😂
Well at least you caught the magnet but I'd have thought you'd have found even a shopping trolley or a pushbike or part there of
Those machine gun posts are so cool where is it
Basingstoke Canal in Hampshire.
Love your videos! Where are these pill boxes please? I love to travel and would love to visit these!😁
All along the Basingstoke canal. Try the Aldershot area of the canal as it was an Army Town.
Fox=Earth... Badger=Sett.
Always fish under\ near a bridge people throw thing from car windows as they drive over them
20.05 thornback ray!!!!!
I rewound it 5 times just to hear graeme swear 🤭
TA Fishing what kind of van pulls your boat
None..just use a 2 ltr diesel estate.
Dont think it would pick up bullet casings as they are made of brass and its not magnetic
2.59 exactly right hand side that's a funny looking plant
lol, bit late in the year for that mate.... :)
@@troywee4774 this must have been filmed earlier in the year
@@thomas1144 lol, could be. :)
Be interesting find out if anythings in the Merderet River
That lipstick was actually a blunt paper I think
Iv done alot of magnet fishing also have a UA-cam channel specifically for that, I started with the same magnet a wukong amazon/ebay job and didn't have any results soon to learn that there crap, if you want to get some interesting finds Graham from spots like this in your video try magnet store on the internet or online magnets you will find some of the most powerful magnets all different pull strengths for a reasonable price, great video as always your a living legend 👍
Carp catching video plzzz
As you tried getting up on that Pill box roof. It reminded me of coming home from school and my Son''s Mum was locked out. I climbed up on the fire exit steps realising that I could reach the back door from there. And the piece of wood I was holding came away in my hand........why is it everything goes in slow motion as you fall from a great height? Fortunately I landed on my feet and was unhurt. I got the door open too. Thanks for the video Graeme but be careful please. What the hell are we going to do on a Friday night if you go and hurt yourself?
currently fighting off a case of the Lurgi combined with Man Flu...still been fishing off rocks but its been a bit draining..I need to regroup and recharge the old batteries a bit. Be glad when its gone and I can go full throttle again.
@@TAFishing You still have the energy of two normal men when you're at half energy. Get well soon Graeme.
i will have to throw some bottle tops into the local canal ,so there is something for a magnet fisher to find
Try Tundry pond ;-)
Look at DrasticG he is the King of 🧲 🎣 Graeme always wear gloves due to wiel’s disease
Bit late now,my hands have been going into water for over 60 years..Rivers,lakes,creeks,estuaries etc.
👍👍👍🇵🇭
stick a magnet on a rod and line innit? cast around.
Looks like you had a fun day out there, I used to enjoy going over the local airfield near us looking for ammo in the pillboxes
Could be barrage balloon blocks in the second world war
Thought of a better title for the vid, "Graeme Pullen" 😉
I wish you would get the bike ina proper gear( can hear the chain grinding)
