I'm over here asking myself the same thing. I have a bunch of people watching my videos but not many people subscribing. I actually checked today and only 5% of my watch time comes from subscribers. With that being said.. thanks for watching and if you have any buddies with atvs then spread the word about me. Also check out one of my newest videos with my son in it doing a brake job....it seems to be a hit.
Preciate the video brother, I got a 420 rancher that overheated, it took out the rings and the seals. I replaced the rings but it's still smoking, it was running until it jumped time at idle yesterday.
I completely understand everything you did. Excellent video. I want to do this on my 2015 Kawasaki Mule. However, I don't understand how to get to that part to get it out of the top of the engine.
You’ll need to take apart the top. Remove the gas tank, any covers etc. then you’ll need to remove the valve cover. There are a few head bolts that come out. This head will come out after you take off the valve cover.
Thank you great info great video I work on chainsaws and 2 strokes are easy for me I port them do all types of mods but I get nervous on bike engines due to the trans what would you recommend as a good way to learn...I use to race karts I got over 20 hp out of 5hp briggs 30 yrs ago when it was not comon but these bikes are different do to the trans what do you think is best way to learn? Plz don't say just dig in bc I understand that missing one washer or shim can cause failure and if you never been in one then you don't know.....will honda manuals help eliminate stupid mistakes? Also does every brand take special tools honda gets a man doing his own work due to certain tools pullers ect....how did u get set up
The transmissions are complicated as you said. I found out the easiest way for me to keep them all together is to pull them all out in one piece and put them in a box with a large rag so the nothing moves around and then install them back in one piece. The manuals do help if you have a washer come off somewhere or another to figure out where it goes back in. But they're still not too bad. Check out some of my other videos I have some in-depth engine rebuilds that show the removal and installation of the transmissions. Really the only thing you need to take one of these motors completely apart is a flywheel puller as far as a specialty tools go. A three jaw puller is also needed to pull the clutch. What type of ATV do you have? I'm sure I'll probably have a video out there with a full teardown.
@@FourwheelerDoctor I HV a 2010 rancher that's what I messaged about .....I sunk it then cleaned it out with motor oil about five fishes then went back to atv oil I let warm up good then drained it ....bike runs good clutch slipped at first but began to grab now doesn't slip at all in any gear but smokes bad so I ran a compression test warm and cold it's at 195 which confuses me honda says 73psi due to compression release but I HV 195 and it smokes bad but if you take it on a ten min hard ride it's almost no smoke at all until it idles awhile I think water eat valve seals what's your opinion? My original text was to find out how to change the shift rod on my 2010 rancher es the chest has been replaced the shaft is worn I'd like to do a foot shift but mine comes out the front with a 8mm head on it any suggestions
@@FourwheelerDoctor no oil at all coming out of crank case breather I unhooked it at the engine in case line was stopped up no oil it runs good just smokes bad until I run it hard hot 20 mins then smoke is very little but if it idles for a hour it smokes same as if first started I let it idles trying to see if it heated up would it help but running it hard is all that has stopped smoke ....oil looks good appears I flushed it well I keep thinking valve seals but I'd put rings in if I HV to pull top end rings and valve job with seals
How do I know if I need to do this , have a Honda fourtrax 300 2wd went out on me, has fresh piston and cylinder but just turns over till it jumps time
I have a 350 rancher. it was treated poorly for a long time. It finally just completely stopped running. I rebuilt the carb. and got it running, but its smoking while its running and what will happen is Ill drive it hard. get up to max speed, and when I slow back down to stop/idle it dies...
You make it look easy. Thanks for the video. I have a Kawasaki Prairie 400 that has 2 broke intake valves. I'm going to replace the timing chain and chain tensioner. I going to look at a used head tomorrow that is still on the atv I'm going to pull the head the guy said it has sat for awhile. If I get the head vs putting new valves in my current head would you recommend I put new valve seals on it or just install it like it is? The used head is $75
Best atv help on UA-cam!
dude why don’t you have more subscribers, you go into such great detail i love it. keep up the good work brother!

So this will stop the smoking I thought the valve guides have to be replaced

Man sounds like you got a mess! Check out some other videos on the 420s I should be able to help you rebuild it.

Sounds like you need to start out by replacing your cam chain if it is jumping time. Have you checked the compression on it?

If you already have it apart I would go ahead and put valve seals in it.
@@FourwheelerDoctor thanks. I'm learning a lot from your videos.
