It's definitely a step in the right direction, but I wouldn't call it a solution to everyone looking for a lower entry point. The 10 movie storage is kind of a joke. 30 or 40 would be more reasonable. They are clearly looking to bait people into the ecosystem to have them add a server to this player so it can actually store movies.
I call that a win for all the folks wanting to get into a player for less than 12k. 4k is a way better entry point.
Jiles, I checked out the Canadian price on the NEW Srato V versus the Strato C, and it's only $ 100.00 more. Don't know if it is worth it because of the limited storage.
The strato V is very much desirable over the C. The C has no storage and doesn’t support Dolby Vision.
Jiles, Please share the name and model of the Blu Ray USB device that you use ? I would also like to get updated versions of the movies I already own on disc ?
I would check on the Kscape site to get the list of currently supported devices. Mine isnt made any longer.

I have that almost all figured out now! I am excited to announce that it will be a TCL! I will talk about it a bit tomorrow night on the live stream. I am super excited. The show will start a little later tomorrow than normal though... have some late work to do beforehand!
My space allows me to have a 77 inch LG G3 Oled with Kilpsch speaker system, Reavon Blu Ray player etc. is the Strato V mostly for larger TV’ of 83 or larger and Projectors or also good for someone that has the smaller 77 inch oled?
The V was made for those with high end direct view displays with Dolby Vision. Perfect for your use case.

My entry cost in Canada was 14k before this model. Now it’s 6K. That’s huge. I paid 5K for my Anthem MRX-1140 so this now is enticing for me.

Since the hardware supports DV on the Strato V could it also support HDR10+ with a future software update?

They should have added 3D support. In my opinion, that would have been more beneficial than DV. Especially for those of us with 3D compatible TV's and projectors. They need to make this happen

The price isn’t based off the content. It’s based off the software development. At least in my opinion. And also what they can get folks to pay.
They are talking about stream, bit I am downloading my 60gb or more movies. And the quality is the same. Ikbwant to battle kaleidoscope about the image and sound quality, because I am not streaming. And they are talkbabout streaming vs blue ray 4k
No one is talking about streaming. Streaming is far inferior to either disc or Kaleidescape.

If you have a display that supports Dolby Vision, yes.

@@vincec4167 absolutely! It never expires! You enter the code when you set up the device. That is the only time when you are able to enter a code.

They have replatformed there front end to same tech Zidoo and Dune uses in order to support Dolby Vision.
ARM chip and embedded video playback. Amazon Prime is selling 4 terrabyte SSD for less than $249.
The playback is just a piece of the picture that makes the system so useful. Elimination of discs is a key feature for me.
If you have to try to explain away the reason to buy to buy by comparing prices with other gear then that's a problem. If I like a product, I will just buy it within reason and sense.
I think most people try to argue the opposite, showing the price difference as a reason not to buy. I do think that at this new price point the product is open to a much much larger consumer market segment. Really anyone that is a home theater enthusiast is in reach of this now.

Anyone can tell me why the Strato V will be a better buy than the R_volution PlayerOne 8K Signature Edition, their NAS/Ripper (upto 3200 4K blu rays storage capacity)? That is cheaper and you have all movies on your HDs in your own control at all time. Instant start up, or flipping through trailers, and not just a poor 10 movies on disk (I already owe 300+ 4K blu rays)..... Anyone? I was planning to buy the R_volution PlayerOne 8K Signature Edition and NAS, but now just want to compare and hear arguments. Is Kaleidescape available in Europe? Cost of movies the same as in the US?
Yes to Rvolution, no to their NAS. Way way overpriced. Just get a regular NAS, most premium being Synology or something. Something like a Synology will also reflect more usable storage space per TB purchased with redundancy and the ability to used mixed drive sizes and upgrade drices 1 at a time with SHR. I have no idea who the Rvolution NAS is for.
The NAS is illegal in the USA.
@@JilesMcCoy No, they came out with a pure NAS, not a ripper. It doesn't have a disk drive at all. They showed it off at MWAVE in Kansas City. It's really expensive for a NAS box. Can imagine it being better than a Synology or other major brand at being a NAS. And have no idea how they would justify the price tag.
Still no HDR10+? Why? For $4000 that is still missing? Why call it the best player without HRD10+? Is it possible to get HDR10+ later with a software update? 🤔
I do t know about an update down the line, but the question of why was answered in the interview video.

That is a different product, but I’ve done that in the past too. I am just done with discs though. I don’t have space for all the ones I’d want. I only collect super special ones now.
@@JilesMcCoy I dont get a lot of movies on disc, just a small collection of real favourites, that I would definitely rewatch, have about 50 movies, which is enough for me. So Zidoo is more my product

@@JilesMcCoyI mean, it's still 10-20x any competing product... price aside, it seems awfully like they omitted the video wall to push people into the server only. Why can't the video wall show a title you own in the store but haven't downloaded? Why can't it play while downloading like other devices if it can play a title and download a different title at the same time. Seems half-baked at a fully baked price.
Hey.... not going to talk about future product. All owned movies viewable and download while playing... I'd have bought. Without those, why bother? It's just a gateway to get people to spend more later as this device alone comes with too many uneccesary cavaets.
Glad I found out the video wall wouldn't show owned but not stored titles on the more expensive units as well. I'd have been PISSED. I have 88TB of 4k movies as it is. I'd be mad if I had them on Kscape, but you wouldn't know while just browsing movies. That's terrible. What an oversight...
The feature I would like is an extra screen , or a toggle, to show videos owned but not downloaded in the units gui. I want this across all the products, not just this one. That would be cool. For me watching and downloading at the same time isn’t needed. And I don’t really need more than 10 movies local at any given time. I like to have 5 or 6 demo movies downloaded and the next 2 or 3 movies I plan to watch. The rest just clutters up my screen honestly. That’s why a toggle for owned vs downloaded would be so useful. The whole Demo Playlist feature requires the whole movie stored, right?

@JilesMcCoy That's where maximizing the storage space and "play while downloading" seems like a critical feature for this particular device, adding to the value proposition and something their software already supports... It's a big miss. I'd be interested to hear them explain the technical reason for omitting it. I feel like it's a sales reason which is what irks me. The "We just don't want it to be too good at this price point" tactic makes me just want to stay away from the company.
It's like buying a base model Corvette and if they literally go out of their way to put a rev limiter on it so you couldn't access the power of what is there. It's like Audi making you pay a subscription for your seat warmers to turn on even though it's all in the car already.
@@Macroproxy That reasoning doesn't make sense to me. I have never needed to download while I was watching a movie. You can't watch a movie while its downloading anyway. If you want to maximize storage space you can. You can buy a TON if you want. I personally don't derive much value beyond 6ish TB. And I think I could get along just fine with the storage in the V. I'll probably give that try when I get mine and see how that goes.
This company's model has always been shaky. The fact that the original tech was a free product shows you the company has its roots in the right place. They shoukf have trnsfrerr3d an affordabl3 product for thr rest of us . Th3 proces are outragours wgen my 1k pc wiith the latest nvibia card gives menincredibe reesults from from MC BE.
Its super solid. Best in the industry.
